Who We Are
Crimson Sage is a small, Woman owned, family business Located in the remote Klamath
River Valley of Northern California tucked between 3 major wilderness areas. Though
surrounded by mountain peaks, our land is located at very low elevation along the river with
an excellent Mediterranean climate perfect for growing a huge diversity of herbs! Crimson
Sage is operated by me, Tina Glaessner and we are very proud to be one of a small handful
of woman-owned nurseries in this country! For over 25 years I have been growing plants of
all kinds but my true passion has always been medicinal herbs. We have a lot to take care of
here at Crimson Sage, nurturing thousands of baby plants, planting the garden, taking care
of animals and I have great appreciation for the work, support and great youthful vigor of
my apprentice help for this season. Thank you to Jerlina, my current intern, plus my former
apprentices who continue to be awesome technical support and occasional helpers, Pam
Ward and Tanya Chapple, and my children Lucius who laid out this catalog from college
and Zea who is spending her high school spring semester studying in Costa Rica! I could not
make this happen without all of their support! We have a mini homestead with a lot packed
into it including two milk goats, two dogs, three cats, chickens for eggs, and ducks for snail
and slug patrol along with a mixed fruit orchard and a large veggie garden. Crimson Sage
Nursery is proud to be one of just a few certified organic nurseries in this country and we are
committed to providing you with a huge diversity of Herbs delivered to your door and ready
to plant in your gardens. We value and appreciate our customers and thank you for your
continued support of our family business.

Many adventurous gardeners continually push their Zone limitations for what can be grown
successfully in their area. Please take into consideration that each individual garden and yard can
have micro-climates. Micro-climates are created by various conditions within a given piece of land
that can markedly affect the low and high temperatures. These temperature-affecting conditions
might include an area with heavy tree cover, a south facing wall of your home, or an area in front
of a rock wall which collects heat during the day. Heavy snowcover can also help plants over winter
which would normally never survive in that climate.
Experimentation is essential and we would love to hear of your experiences with plants succeeding
outside their designated zone! Please feel free to contact us for more information on plant hardiness
