Questions:

1. What data will be shown after the lesson that ties the specially designed instruction

to the growth of individual students? [ CITATION Con18 \l 1033 ] The teacher should have

some sort of exit ticket or brief assessment that is given after each lesson. Data that is tied

to each students IEP will be collected after each lesson or assessment to help track

student progress in meeting their goals. This is an ongoing process throughout the school

year.

2. What student behaviors do you expect to see during your teaching and how do you

plan on managing those behaviors so learning can continue? [ CITATION Pam \l 1033 ]

We begin each lesson by briefly going over behavior expectations and the goals they are

working toward. Students have a coping process they are expected to follow when they

feel overwhelmed or having a hard time. A couple students get off task frequently and

need re-directing. Another student has a break corner that they are allowed 3 minutes and

can work on a coping strategy.

3. How do you incorporate instructional concepts in the general classroom into your

teaching and daily lessons? [ CITATION Con18 \l 1033 ] Meeting with the general

education teachers during the scheduled PLC time helps with planning and keeping

students in the same schedule they are in, in the general classroom. [ CITATION Lin11 \l

1033 ] Taking the concepts and breaking them down to meet the individual needs for the

students in order for them to work toward and meet their IEP goals.

4. Where would you like me to be in the classroom, so I am not a disruption to the

students and their learning?[ CITATION Pam \l 1033 ] Depending on the behavior and

focus of the students, some students do not mind having another adult interact with them
in a lesson; new things or change may not affect them. Other students do not adapt well

to change, and when the principal is coming in to observe, it is best if they are there

before students transition and sit quietly in the back or somewhere they may not be

noticed so students can focus their attention on the lesson and not get upset or distracted.

It is important to know what is best for the students before coming to do an observation.

5. What will your lesson be focused on? In 5th grade, the general education teacher is

working on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. We will be working

with manipulatives and number lines to create equivalent fractions and adding fractions

with like denominators.
