CONSTRUCTION OF PAPER TOWER
Project Summary
The name of the project given to MS project Management student is called Paper tower. The aim is to
develop a paper tower using 40 pages A4 size sheets within one hour. For the project, the groups were
asked to make the highest peak with the given amount of papers. For project planning 15 minutes were
given and for execution there were 45 minutes. In the project constrains were that the base could not be
attached to the ground and it should be stable enough to withstand the wind of a fan.
The Project Manager and team, all will play key roles in managing the scope of this project. As such, the
project manager, and team members must be aware of their responsibilities in order to ensure that work
performed on the project is within the established scope throughout the entire duration of the project. The
associated table communicates to the course group member’s names, their jobs in the task and their
obligations.

SCOPE STATEMENT
The scope of the project is to make a paper tower of 40(initially approved+5(contingent resource)) pages
within limited time and by utilizing few resources. We are provided with tape and glue stick for the
stability of our project. The basic idea is to construct a paper tower that is stable enough with the
following limitations:
1. Cannot stick to the floor
2. Can withstand the wind of the fans
3. Should be tallest in class

Milestones:
The project was aimed at achieving five milestones which are as follows:
1. Completion of Structural Design.
2. Completion of Foundation.
3. Completion of Super Structure
4. Completion of Assembling
5. Stability Check after Completion

Organizational Structure
The type of our organization is a projectized organization in which the project manager is at the
strategic/top level. In this structure the group of workers is arranged according to the job function and the
project manager has high authority over all project operations. It will have Directive Project management
office (PMO) as it aims to support the organization and will be solely responsible to deliver the project in
the stipulated time & resources. It has a high degree of control in which subordinates are arranged
through mechanistic structures having clearly defined span of control along with formal reporting
protocols.
