The behavior of the police officer in times of

crisis(pandemic)
The Police is a state institution whose activity is regulated by the domenstic
law and international law.

The main police tasks are to ensure the safety, health and possessions of
citizens, and to prevent crime and civil disorder.

In my opinion, the police officer a state employee who watches over the
compliance of the law. But firstly he is a human being so I think that his main
responsibility is to help other people by taking care of their safety. Usually people
become nervous in the presence of the policemen even if they are ungulty and
that’s weird because the police officers are not their enemies.

I saw this behavior more pronounced last year when we faced the pandemic
and the police officers had to ensure that we don’t spread the virus. We, the people,
didn’t understand this and we were always trying to avoid them because we were
afraid that we might be fined.

I think that it’s not easy for a police officer to see that people look at him with
odium, but they have to show an exemplary behavior to citizens. I don’t know
exactly wich is the best way to behave in times of crisis as a police officer, but I
will show my opinion about this.

As a simple person I would think that being kind to people is the best behavior
because I consider that we should cooperate with honest people in order to capture
the ones who are trying to not respect the law. That would be possible in a perfect
world because in the real world peope are reluctant when they talk to police
officers. I think this is due to the fact that we all do mistakes and we are scared of
being punished for them. So, if a police officer is trying to be friendly with the
citizens, they will try to fool him and he will lose all his authority.

As a student of the Police Academy, after seeing how things work from
another perspective, I can say that the police officers’ behavior should make people
realise that it’s not ok to make mistakes. In times of crisis, the police officers
should be more imposing and not to forgive anyone. They should be polite with all
the people but never let anyone to fool them.

Lastly, I realised that the police officers can’t be friends with citizens even if
they want to. People will never like the Police, but that’s not bad, because most of
them agree that the policemen are a “necessary evil”, and they respect the Police
Institution. To make sure that you are heard, you have to be imposing, but
respectful and polite and that’s the behavior a police officer should have not during
a crisis, but always.
