INTRODUCTION

When the pandemic started, everything changed from work to the education system
to the daily lifestyles of people. Due to the minimum health standards, interactions were
limited, gatherings were almost non-existent and face-to-face classes became online
classes. Face-to-face classes turned into online classes. And the mode of students
complying with requirements also changed. The online class is a mode of education where
students and teachers interact via zoom or Google meet. Teachers or instructors send
modules and activities through Google classroom. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a course
in which the best way for students to learn or to grasp knowledge is to have face-to-face
discussions was no exception to online classes.

The new mode of learning dramatically affects student nurses' mental state;
however, their coping techniques have also changed. Coping can be described as how
people deal with stress through thoughts and actions. Recent studies have identified two
general coping strategies: one is a problem-focus coping strategy where the intention is to
tackle the issue or make a move to change the state of affairs. And the other is the emotion-
focus coping strategy, which intends to decrease the enthusiastic pain related to unpleasant
circumstances. In line with this, the researchers would like to know more about how the
Nursing students from Central Mindanao University CMU cope up with the loaded
requirements in the new mode of learning.
Statement of the Problem

This study intended to find out how nursing students in Central Mindanao University
(CMU) cope up with their loaded requirements.

Specifically, this study sought to answer the following questions:

1. What are the reasons why the nursing students procrastinate?


2. What are the coping strategies that the nursing students use to cope up with the
loaded requirements?
3. What is the effect of coping strategies to the nursing students?

Objective of the Study

This study aims to gather information about the coping mechanism of the nursing
students in Central Mindanao University (CMU) in their loaded requirements. Specifically,
this aims to:

1. To determine what are the reasons of nursing student’s procrastination


2. To know coping strategies the selected nursing students use to cope up with their
loaded requirements
3. To identify the effects those coping strategies have on the selected students.
Significance of the Study

The study will help researchers to know how nursing students in Central Mindanao
University (CMU) cope up with their loaded requirements which will be significant to the
students that will help them develop their ways on how to cope up with their loaded
requirements and how will they overcome procrastination.. This research would like to know
what are the student’s views on coping strategies are and how can cope strategies help in
their studies and welfare.

Second, this study is important to teachers so that they will have an idea of what
strategies they will use to cater to the needs of students in learning and on the specific
lessons that students have difficulty. By possessing a firm knowledge and understanding, it
will improve their career.

Lastly, to the future researcher/s which would help them use this research as a
source of reference or information who intends to do further study in the future.
Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The study will be conducted at Central Mindanao University, Located at University


Town, Musuan, Maramag Bukidnon. This study is only limited to how the nursing students
cope up with the loaded requirements. Specifically, this study is focused on the coping
strategies, causes of procrastination, and effects of the coping strategies.

It is delimited on the experiences of the students on how students use the coping
strategies, what led them to use these strategies, and analyzing how these strategies affect
their studies and welfare in online schooling and their homes.
Definition of Terms

Coping is the constantly changing cognitive and behavioral efforts for managing
specific external or internal demands that are persons. To furthermore understand the
contents of this research paper, here are some keywords to help you out:

Coping strategies. Psychological patterns that individuals use to manage thoughts,


feelings, and actions encountered during various stages of ill health and treatments.

Online Class . Environment created through use of a learning management system that
allows students and teacher to connect either synchronously (real-time, with teacher and
students meeting at the same time or asynchronously with interaction between teacher and
students occurring intermittently with a time.

Requirements . A thing that is needed or wanted.

Loaded. Having a large amount of something stored.
