CL 106 class has continuous enrollment; this section is taught in a computer lab. Student work is self-
paced with assistance available at all times.
Course Description
Overview of PowerPoint. Includes creating, formatting, modifying, and preparing presentations using
different slide layouts. Other PowerPoint concepts include duplicating and moving text, pictures,
images, and charts within and between presentations and using a variety of slide show effects.

Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Create, format, modify, and prepare presentations using different PowerPoint slide layouts.
Understand the uses of different presentation view modes.
Duplicate and move text, pictures, images, and charts within and between PowerPoint files.
Add preset text and image animation effects to slides.
Add transition effects between slides.

Attendance
Daily attendance is optional. You may work at home or elsewhere, or you may come into the
Olympus lab as often as you need for assistance during normal lab hours.

Grades
You will be graded on a Pass (S) Fail (U) basis. An average of 75 percent or above is required for a
passing grade; 74 percent and below is a failing grade.

Student Responsibility
All two-credit Computer Literacy courses are self-paced and competency-based. This means YOU
are responsible for learning the software, completing the necessary assignments, and passing the
quizzes/tests. It is also your responsibility to pace yourself appropriately so that you complete the
coursework and take all quizzes/tests by the end of the quarter.
There is no day-to-day monitoring of your progress. You are encouraged to come to the lab and talk
with the instructor or email the instructor about any questions or concerns. The instructor and
teaching aides are available for guidance and help, but it is ultimately up to you to learn the material
in a timely manner.
Please either turn your cell phone off or set it to vibrate before entering the lab.
Personal Computer
Your instructor is not responsible for and cannot support personal computers and other personal
electronic devices. The student is expected to know how to troubleshoot personal computer problems
and have a working computer with stable internet service and access to EvCC email and Canvas
(used by EvCC to support online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses). It is also recommended every
student regularly back up computer files to either an external hard drive or USB drive.
Classroom Behavior
You are expected to conduct yourself in accordance with EvCC’s Core Values of respect, integrity,
honesty, and responsibility. In short, you are expected to conduct yourself professionally, treat fellow
classmates and your instructor with respect, and foster a positive learning environment. Students who
demonstrate a disregard for working, learning, appropriate use of language, and respect for other’s
points of view may be asked to leave the class.
Academic Honesty
In a college setting, plagiarism is referred to as academic dishonesty. Academic dishonesty will not
be tolerated and can result in a failing grade, either for the assignment or for the entire course.
Individual assignments must be solely your work.
