A5: LMS Dream Team

Who would you put on the team? Why?

 Content Teacher/instructor- Content teachers and instructors are important

to have on my LMS team because they will be able to work together to

determine which components are essential to have within a LMS for all

contents. Additionally, having various teachers who have different

backgrounds, points of view and varying needs based on the content that they

teach is important. This will truly allow all developers, team members,

administrators, and stakeholder select the best LMS that will benefit the

school system as a whole.

 Administrators- Administrators are also important to have on the LMS dream

team because they are able to provide insight into key factors that are

important for users.

Who are the Stakeholders? What are their characteristics and how will their

perspectives influence the discussions and decisions of the team?

 Parents- Parents are important stakeholders within my LMS dream team. They

are an essential part of the team because they will have an active role with

students who are completing course work at home. Parents will also be able to

provide insight into various elements and qualities within the LMS that are

helpful and that they feel will be beneficial for parents and students.
 Board Members-District board members are important stakeholders because

they will not only provide funding for the LMS licenses for teachers and

students in the district, but they also are responsible for implementing it

within the schools in the district.

What process will the team use to review and select the LMS?

 QM Rubric- The Quality Matters rubric will be used to review the LMS that will

be used in the district. This rubric will be used to assess the structure,

elements, and overall development of the LMS and courses that will be used to

educate students.

 Formative assessment- Formative assessments will be incorporated

throughout the LMS to not only assess students’ knowledge and learning

throughout the modules, but assessments will also be used to receive

immediate feedback from students and parents based on the course.

What are the most important LMS features needed to support your organization?

 Security features for all teachers, staff members and students. It is very

important for all users using the LMS system to be protected and have privacy

features. Additionally, it is important for the district to be able to actively

enforce privacy/ security features for users, so students cannot alter them or

lift them on their own.

 Communication features that are easy to access and navigate. This will be very

beneficial for parents and students who are completing work and task at home

because it will allow them to communicate with the teacher based on course
work and assessments. This could be offered as an email platform or digitally

for video conferencing.

 Built-in assessment features for students to complete that will provide

teachers with data to track students’ knowledge and learning.

 Discussion boards will provide students the opportunity to interact with other

students and instructors in their course. Students will also be able to use this

feature to collaborate and share ideas with others.

 Options for standards and assigning standards to separate assignments within

the LMS.

After the final selection, how will you lead the installation and implementation of a

new LMS?

After the final selection of the LMS, it is important to have all teachers and staff

effectively trained on how to use the LMS and how to implement it within the schools

and classroom. It is proven that the effectiveness of any new program, practice or

strategy within the school system is to provide proper training and knowledge for

users. By ensuring that users know how to successfully use and operate LMSs and

applications that will be used, the overall effectiveness will have a better result.
