What is Learning Management System?

 A learning management system (LMS) is a software application or web-based technology that is used to
plan, implement, and assess a specific learning process. It is used in eLearning practices.
 A learning management system allows an instructor to create and deliver content, monitor student
participation, and assess student performance. A learning management system may also help learners to
use interactive features such as threaded discussions, video conferencing, and discussion forums.
 May also access course resources such as a syllabus, gradebook, discussion boards, due dates, and so on.
 A learning management system allows you to centralize all of your learning materials and make them
available to all learners with a single click. You can even divide learners into groups based on their
functions or job roles.

What is the relevance of LMS in Education?

 Learning Management Systems in education allows instructors to keep track of a learner’s progress in
terms of course completion, identification of knowledge gaps, participation and engagement level, and
time required to complete the course.
 The LMS helps schools in maintaining the integrity of their educational programs by allowing educators
to develop courses, deliver instruction, facilitate communication, foster student collaboration, assess
student success, and provide other learning resources for support.

Where is LMS mostly used by?

 Almost all Corporate and organizations.
 All Educational institutions (Schools &Universities).
 Many government companies.
 Private tuition and institutions.

Advantages of LMS
1. Organizes Learning in A Single Location
 Organizations will find it easier to store training content in a single location. Aside
from that, it is much easier for learners to gain remote access to all courses without
physically being present at the training location.
2. Provides Unlimited Access
 Learners have unlimited access to the training material once the LMS is deployed
and content is published. They have the freedom to play, pause, and repeat the
same content as long as they are unsure about it. An LMS makes it simple for both
slow and fast learners to catch up with their learning.
3. Tracking Learner’s Progress
 An LMS allows the instructor to track the progress of the learner on the platform.
The instructor can administer corrective measures based on the learner's merit.
Every LMS platform will include a tracking and analytics tool that will allow
instructors to identify areas of deficiency in the learner. As a result, the learners
remain committed to their learning on the platform.
4. Reduces Training Costs
 Training costs can be reduced by conducting it online. The participants can simply
log in to the web portal and access the courses at their own convenience.
5. Allows Micro-Learning at Scale
 Learners are given specific information to improve knowledge assimilation and
retention. By keeping the training modules small, you avoid overwhelming the
learner with training material while allowing effective learning to take place
without constraints.
6. Remain Compliant with Regulations
 Organizations can quickly make changes to existing regulatory training content
and notify employees/learners of the changes. With an LMS, a process that would
normally take days is completed in minutes.
7. Easy to Customize & Update
 With an LMS, you can easily add new content and update old content in a short
period of time. This allows training content to remain current and relevant.
8. Consistent & Scalable Content Delivery
 It is easier to distribute training material because all of the training material and
assessments are stored in a single location. All participants on the learning
platform would have access to the platform’s updates and new learning content.
9. Multimedia Learning
 A learning management system (LMS) enables organizations and educational
institutions to provide training content in the form of video, image, audio, and text.
All of this can provide the learner with a rich learning experience.
