11 QUALITIES OF A GREAT NEIGHBOR

When you are in search of a house, you're not only buying a home but also going to be a part of the
neighborhood. We all live around our neighbors, but we don't connect with all of them. Whether you stay
in an apartment or a house, there are many ways to be a good neighbor.

Every small gesture counts to make a sweet bond between you and your neighbor. The neighbors value
your property. A good neighbor's quality will build an everlasting connection.
Here are 11 qualities of a great neighbor -

1. Respect boundaries
Respecting neighborhood boundaries and their space plays a pivotal role in the qualities of a good
neighbor. Even doing all deeds count on your relationship. Respect their boundaries and privacies. Any
wrong move can offense the neighbors, one can even get fed up and change the property.

2. Keep your surroundings clean

If you live in an apartment building, with common amenities like a gym, lounge area, and other areas, it's
essential to clean the used area. It's everyone's responsibility to keep the surrounding songs clean and
hygienic. If you use a fitness room along with your neighbors, you can clean the room after use. These
selfless services from your side will have a great impression on your neighbor.

3. Don't go overboard on decors

Decoration for festivals or parties or small gatherings can be a lot of fun. But, be aware that your
decorations might slightly be overdone, which may annoy your neighbors. Like the lighting from your
dwelling might flash on their windows, which might be too much. It's better to switch off the lights in
lower proximity hours, which won't keep your neighbors up at night.

4. Keep your parties at a minimum

This happens if you live in an apartment building. Entertainment at the parties is a lot of fun, but it would
be better if you practice keeping the parties to a minimum.  Inform your neighbors, and the residents
below your floor about your party a week ahead. Ensure the music won't be loud, and invite them to your
party.

5. Make moments memorable

If you have moved into your new house. Buy a gift like a plant, or scented candles, or a champagne bottle
as a sweet gesture. Make these small moments with your neighbors memorable.
6. Exchange contact information
While having small conversations with your neighbor, make sure to get their contact information. If you
have any query or an issue you know who to call. If your neighbor's water pipes are leaking you can let
them know by contacting them, if they are not available.

7. Don't be an interfering neighbor

We are all that one neighbor around us, who always spreads false news and gossip. If you get a chance to
meet them, don't inquire about other neighbors, and do not participate in any gossip.

8. Help them before they ask for

You can take small favors from your neighbor. If your neighbors are older, try to help them while
walking across the lawn or lend a helping hand if you watch them struggling with carrying bags.

9. Keep your home presentable

Renovate your house with new wall colors, clean your lawns, sidewalk, and parking area. Keep the trash
cans out of sight for pleasant air to come in. If you live in an apartment, try to arrange and keep all your
footwear inside the house. Work on your exterior house to look presentable.

10. Take care of your plants and lawns

If you have a hobby of gardening or maintaining lawns, make sure to clean the space, especially in a rainy
climate. Try to cut down any overgrown shrubs.

11. Connect on social media

If you live in an apartment building, then you are in What's app group. Create a separate group for your
tribe and share your cooking recipes or share any local knowledge, or shopping recommendations. This
will help in a great way to know each other and bring a community together.
