CHAPTER 5 – ON BECOMING A GLOBAL TEACHER

Learning Outcomes:
Similar to curriculum, teachers have also differences, they differ from its
uniqueness and scope. However, teachers are said to be flexible because they
are the educators of the world by profession.
Global and glocal teachers are somehow both connected in one another. Yet,
when we say Global teacher this means that global teacher, these are educators
that incorporates various global issues under their curriculum. Under global
issues are the following:
1. Multiculturalism
2. Economic
3. Environmental issues
4. Social issues
Through these issues that is being tackled a learners will have their deepest
understanding about global issues and can communicate effectively.
While, glocal teachers means that. These are the teachers that can think and act
both local and global perspective worldwide. Under glocal issues are the
following:

Appreciate the similarities of the characteristics of the ASEAN
teachers and teaching profession as these respond to global
standards.
Every country has different styles and ways on how to run their educational
system. Each countries, specifically to the teachers portray unique skills with
response to the curriculum that was implemented.
Even if you are just a simple human being, you are deserving to be respected.
Everyone of us love to be respected and want to be respected. Teachers are
respected well since they are believed to be the second mother of the second
home- the school. Teachers are respected well since teachers responsibility is to
respect and treat the student as a child and a family. It’s a give and take
responsibility. Thus, if you want to be respected, then respect everyone
unconditionally.
Every parents has their own dreams and ambitions to their children. The
situation will depend on the parents itself. There are parents that they want their
child to be a teacher someday however others not. Ideally, every parents wanted
their child to be a teacher not by profession but by actions.
Yes, great treatment started with a great respect. Students must respect their
teachers because they stand as the their second teacher. They are the educator
and they know whats the best for the learner.
Some of the people might think of, teachers are paid in high wage however not.
It is innate to a human that we need money in order for it to survey. However,
for teachers, if you love your professions, do it unconditionally.
Teachers should be paid according to the right percentage of salary. Even if the
students are not doing their best, teachers must be paid normally because they
have done their best just to convey the lesson well.
The New Types of Learners. The new breed of learners does not have age
boundaries. Learners maybe are in an informal, formal or informal setting. The
new type of learners includes:
●A confident person who thinks independently and critically and who
communicates effectively;
●Self-directed and who questions, reflects and take responsibility for his/her own
learning;
●A concerned citizen, informed about the world and local affairs, has a strong
sense of civic responsibilities and participates actively in improving the lives of
others;
●A member of the new generation: pop culture, different ways of thinking,
responding.
Identify the 21st century life and career skills for learners and
teachers.
Learning to be. One of the most difficult things to do among the pillars
is Learning to be. It implies developing the potentials of each individual.
Continuing education must improve self-knowledge and self-esteem. What
would you like to be? Answer to this question will require self-analysis,
reflection, social skills, creativity and personal discovery. At this point in
time, have You decided that you should really BECOME a TEACHER ? Do
you have now the skills that enable you to become one?
All the pillars are interrelated with each other as basic principles. One
pillar will not function if it stands alone. There is a need to connect in
order to address the 21st century demands for teaching and learning.
CHAPTER 6 – Ensuring Teacher Quality Through Competency
Framework and
Standards

Distinguish between teacher quality and quality teacher
With these themes in mind, the 21st century skills framework are clustered into
three.
●Learning and Innovation Skills Framework include Critical Thing and Problem
Solving, Creativity and Innovation and Communication and Collaboration and
Technology Skills
●Information, Media and Technology Skills Framework
●Life and Career Skills Framework
There are differences in the context of how teacher quality is defined hence,
there is no universal standard of teacher quality. The teaching profession needs
to have standards in away that other professions have to advance it status.
These should be developed and owned by the teachers themselves like Finland,
Sweden and Denmark. In other countries, teacher standards for teacher quality
are set at the national or state levels but with consideration for local flexibility in
the implementation.
In summary, quality teachers are defined by their attributes and characteristics
while teacher quality is defined by the standards set for the profession and are
validated by the students learning outcomes.

Explain why CPD is necessary for professional teachers
With the enactment of RA 10912, the CPDD Law of 2016, CPD for all the
professions regulated by PRC is now mandatory. Mandating CPD is the only
way all professionals including teachers are made to go through CPD.
I believe that each one of us here in the world has a purpose and has
mission. We are called to be unfinished project because our creator settled
a mission and purpose that needs to be done in order to achieve
satisfaction in life. If that purpose is achieved, we can say that we are
satisfied and our mission is finished. Thus, we are now finished project until
our death.
This quote is short but inspiring. Our life is short, with that, we need to
enjoy our life to the fullest. No one experienced excellence and success in
just a blink of an eye but it takes a lot of process and experiences. Life
achievements include different stage. Our existence has a mission to
accomplish. Let us make every opportunity as a great day to be.
