The table gives information about the percentage of six family types who were living in poor
condition in Australia in 1999. It can be clearly seen from the table that the proportion of poor
families only accounted for nearly around one tenths of all households and it varied
significantly across six separate categories of families.

The highest number of poor famil1ies was sole parent with 232,000 households, which
constituted 21% of all. It was nearly double the percentage of the nuclear families (12%).
Similarly, the two kinds of the families with no children experienced a noticeable difference.
There were only 211,000 couples with no children living in poverty in comparison with
359,000 single people. Moreover, in Australia that year, not many aged people were poor
(10% for the total single aged people and the aged couple).

There’s a common category here that you should pay attention to: single vs. couple. Make
comparisons between single people and couples. Also you can make comparison between
families with children and without children. Try to interpret the information using the
categories.

In conclusion, it seems that the aged people have a better life than the young ones no matter
whether these youngsters live alone or with their children.
Chị cho em hỏi là nếu mình thay percentage và proportion = rate và ratio thì được không
