Topic: With the increase in use of the Internet, books will soon become unnecessary. To
what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Since the Internet came into being, many aspects of our life have been significantly changed.
Face–to-face teaching is gradually replaced by Internet-based learning;, people go shopping
online more often than use the traditional way, etc. Yet, it there remains arguments about
whether the Internet will completely take the place of books or not. HoweverFor me, it is
obvious that books still play an undeniable part in human’s life.

Firstly, it is clear that using the Internet is spreading fast because of the decreasing cost of
computers. Nevertheless, it still costs readers much more than using books. According to
statistics, reading a document on the Internet commands a price of $20 in average for both
computer cost, and Internet fee and electricity charge, while a book only costs around $10.
Therefore, books provide a widely access to all the people in the world, including the poor
oneser population.

Moreover, reading by books is likely to be friendlier with environment than using the Internet.
When being thrown away, paper is gets decayed easier than polymer, which is contained in a
computer’s components. According to scientific some research, paper can decay in only
several years in comparison with hundreds of years for polymer. In addition, using the
Internet indicates using much electricity, therefore it leads to the warmth of the Earth, which
can be avoided by using books. Thus, reading in the traditional way is a method to save the
environment.

Finally, books provide the readers with more reliable information than the Internet. A book
before being able to be published must follow a stringent procedure, for instance, asking
authority about the content, the illustration, the source of facts, etc. Whereas, the Internet
usually uses the user-generate contents, which shows meaning that everyone can post and
share their knowledge on the Internet. As a matter of fact, this kind of information is not
heavily censored and not always be certain to be relied.

In conclusion, although it is true that the Internet has been widely applied to human’s life, it
cannot replace all our traditional activities, particularly reading books. Books still prove to be
an essential part of our life since they are worldwide accessible, reliable and harmless to the
Earth. Therefore, it is advisable that we should use books in parallel with the Internet rather
than eliminating them.  Pretty good conclusion!
