Answer all questions from this section.

1. Solve the simultaneous equations x − 2 y − 1 = 0 and + = 6. [5 marks]

2. The mass of a group of 10 workers in a company that would like to donate blood in a campaign has
a mean of 56 kg and standard deviation of 6 kg.
(a) Find
(i) the sum of the mass of workers, [2 marks]
(ii) the sum of the squares of the mass of workers. [2 marks]
(b) If two new employees who have mass of 46 kg and 51kg respectively would like to donate blood,
find the new mean and new standard deviation. [3 marks]

3. A long wire with length of h cm is used to make 20 circular rings with the same centre as shown in
Diagram 1.

and the circumference of the largest ring is 96  cm. Find

Diagram 2 shows the straight line PQS and QRT. Point P and point S lie on the x-axis and y-axis
respectively. Q is the midpoint of PS.

Answer any four questions from this section.

7. (a) It is found that 30% of the eggs produced by a chicken farm are of grade A. If 10 eggs from the
farm are selected at random, find the probability that
(i) exactly 3 grade A eggs are obtained, [2 marks]
(ii) not more than 8 grade A eggs are obtained. [3 marks]

(b) The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of the final year students in a university follows
a normal distribution with a mean of 2.8 and a standard deviation of 0.35.
(i) If one student is selected randomly, find the probability that the CGPA of the student is less
than 2.4. [2 marks]
(ii) A first class honor degree will be given to the final year students who obtained CGPA more
than k. If 2.53% of the students manage to qualify for this degree, find the value of k.
[3 marks]

8. Diagram 4 shows two sectors. QPV is a sector of a circle with centre P and radius 8 cm. SWT is a
sector of a circle with centre W and radius 10 cm. PQ is parallel to WS. The length of the arc ST is 7
cm.

PQ, MN and ST are parallel lines where MN = ST. Given PQ = 18.6 cm, PM = 4.8 cm,
RT = 1.6 cm and MRN = 40 o .

13. A particle moves along a straight line and passes through a fixed point, O with a uniform acceleration

(a) Find
(i) the velocity function, v(t), [[2 marks]
(ii) the displacement function, s(t). [2 marks]
(b) Calculate the maximum displacement of the particle. [2 marks]
(c) Sketch a displacement-time graph for 0 ≤ t ≤ 5. Hence, or otherwise, find the total distance

production of a type of food.

(b) The composite index of the food in the year 2017 based on the year 2015 is 115. Find the value
of m and of n . [5 marks]
(c) The composite index for the production cost of the food is expected to increase by 20% from
the year 2017 to the year 2018. Calculate the composite index for the production cost of the
food in the year 2018 based on the year 2015. [2 marks]

15. Use the graph paper to answer this question.


Success Institute intends to enroll x students for science courses and y students for art courses.

(a) Write three inequalities, other than x ≥ 0 and y ≥ 0, which satisfy all the following constraints:
I. The number of science students is at least 200 but does not exceed 500.
II. The total number of both science and art students does not exceed 700.
III. The number of science students exceeds twice the number of art students for at most 200.
[3 marks]
(b) Using a scale of 2cm to 100 students for both axes, construct and shade the region R which
satisfies all the above constraints. [3 marks]

(c) Using the graph in (b), find


(i) the maximum number of arts students that can be enrolled if the number of science students is
250,
(ii) the maximum fees collected per semester if the fees for each science students per semester is
RM 800 and the fees for each arts students per semester is RM600.
