1. The message for both film was freedom of women mainly of the people and the culture
depicted what women should be and the reality what womens are and what womens
want should it be the family friends or or should she choose job career her own interest.
These are the things that are shown in this both movies in a very similar way within
different approach. For first let's talk about roya from under construction. It is a world
within a firm that showed from the perspective of a woman actress that should she
choose a career , how should she settle down and have a baby and end her career
there. In this story we see roya and theatrical actress who has been playing the role of
Nandini for 12 year. Nandini is a character who is perfect in terms of looks. Her beauty is
immeasurable. She is elegant, kind and fertile. This is something society thinks a perfect
woman should be. In the story roya thinks this is just a fantasy that is not perfect
example of a woman. A perfect woman shouldn't be like this. She want to show the
world how it perfect Nandini would look like in story from this current age . She wants to
build her own career and she wants to focus on her career. That was implied over and
over in the movie. But society expect different things from her. Some husband to her
mother they want how to focus on her household life. Her mother told her to get a child.
Same goes for her husband. He wants to have a baby with her. As you can see from the
story, eventually everything is getting tangled with each other. She isn't ready to have a
baby mentally.but from the peer pressure she is getting from her husband and family she
is put into a corner in later part the story she is alone she feels lonely. She wants to do
something but she can't. She is thinking about quitting her acting job and her acting
career. Eventually an incubator who was impressed with her first work wanted to work
on her with that project in modern times. In the story people doubted her. Even her own
director doubted her works and criticized her work. She got the play but she had to direct
the whole thing. It is her own project . If this is successful she will play her plays all over
europe. So it was a big deal for her . This play is like her own child in a sense. But the
support she got was few. As her husband decided for her to bear a child and focus on
family, her mother did not support her acting career from the beginning as her mother
thinks actresses are prostitutes . her mother got sick and had to go to london. So her
husband booked a ticket for her to accompany her but she refused because of her play .
She chose to play instead of her family.

So the msg of the film for me was “freedom of choosing what women want to do” . In our
society we expect a woman to help the household and the man to be the breadwinner
for the family . For a woman to have a successful career and be ignorant about her
family is almost unthinkable here. So, when something this unexpected happens they
get criticized by people. Roya here was confused and lonely. She was self-conscious
about her age after she was replaced by a young actor. This created an emotional
anxiety in her . followed by her family wanting her to have a child, her servant living her
also the pressure from work altogether that piled up. She was alone, she was lonely, she
was feeling trapped. She wasn't happy with her relationship. She saw her husband as a
snake in the dream. Which indicated the toxicity in her life that was slowly poisoning her.
Also the film pointed not all woman think like roya her servant girl want to marry and
have baby .

In the end she had to make a choice and she did . She chose her career. She had a
chance to go with her mother but she chose to stay. From my point of view this is a
tough answer . abandoning her family for her career is a selfish way to go. But
opportunities only come one time. If she missed this opportunity, who knows she might
get this type of opportunity again . Also this is her chance to show what she can do.
What her ideas are . what a real woman should be with her play . So I think what she did
was right. It is not ok for a person to choose career over family. But letting go of your
own dream and not proving you are right and you can do it is worse.

As for Shireens story, she lived abroad with her son . She raised her son as a single mother. He
got divorced and had custody of the child . and left the country when he was young . She never
told anything to her husband about her child. . They came back to bangladesh after her husband
died. She left her husband because she was not happy . she isn't getting the freedom she wanted
to. She was an excellent singer and an actress . her husband praised her for those talents.
Eventually he told her to stop doing this . They had a child and were happy but her husband's
complement of other people's wifes singing irritated her . The breaking point was for him to say
“she used to sing well to “ this was the last straw for her and she got divorced .

I agree with her decision to leave her husband. It was basically what we can refer to as a toxic
relationship where you tell your partner not to do something but compliment others for that exact
reason. The hypocrite thing made her relationship end . but what I don't agree with here is
keeping everything dark from their son. She robbed him from his dad . This was a selfish way of
thinking . Because of this the son did not get a chance to know his own father. He knows he will
never get the chance. In the story we can clearly see the son is confused and sad. He is not sure
why her mother kept everything from him; this might negatively affect him in the future.

Both Roya and Shireen are on the same line if we think about it. Both of them are talented
individuals who choose their passion and career over family . For me I think Shireen is a similar
future self of roya might end up being if she continues her path .roya is not happy with her
relationship.so was Shireen in her story . At the end of the day both of the characters are alone
in their own way . so in conclusion i support riya and Shireen for choosing their own way building
their own path .well what makes them happy . but what i disagree is for Shireen to keep
everything dark about rofiq from their son. This was not ok .

We can cee she is feeling

she is aging

2. Different people have their own way of thinking about what aesthetic should be. For me both of
the films are well made by their respected creators . but for me i felt something was missing from
both films . from ontor jatra . the costumes could've been better for the son also the lighting of
the film could've been better . for the acting the son's character looks still . I understand this
character was meant to represent the confusion that he was facing. But the character felt one
mientional for me. It was very distracting for me. The could've shown his father as a backstory
scene perspective instead of telling the story by mouth it could have impacted deeply.

As for under construction did not give me a feeling of satisfaction when the film ended . it felt
unfinished and I was left with lots of lots of questions. Like what happened to her play . did she
prove herself. Full movie she struggled to prove herself . but in the end the movie ended without
showing it felt cold and raw. I Can understand the director might have thought of an open ending
situation where the audience creates their own ending in their head but when you concentrate
the movie on a specific point . it felt unfinished. Other than that the movies costume/ clothing
was on point lighting and the set up was beautiful.

Character’s expression looked one

dimensional
