DEPARTMENT: Department of IT and Management
STUDIES: Master's degree studies, full-time (full-time)
DIRECTION: Applied Computer Science
SPECIALTY: Computer Engineering
SPECIALIZATION:
Resolution of June 25, 2019
Valid from October 1, 2019
1. Description

Duration (in sem): 4 Professional title: magister

Prerequisites - recruitment: Form of graduation (diploma project, diploma

Competition of grades from the diplomas of graduating from first-cycle
dissertation, diploma examination, etc.):
studies. A person applying for admission to second-cycle studies in the thesis, diploma examination
field of Computer Science must have first-cycle qualifications and
competences necessary to continue education in the second-cycle
studies in this field.

Possibility to continue studies: Graduate profile:

the possibility of undertaking doctoral studies (3rd cycle) Education in the field of Computer Engineering is
carried out within 1 specialization conducted in
English in the form of 4 semesters:
The effect of education is the body of knowledge, skills
and social competences, which are presented in detail
in Appendix No. 1 to the Education Program. The
curriculum includes obligatory and elective courses.
Elective courses are launched after consultation with
students.
Compulsory courses allow you to gain
knowledge in the following areas:
- Advanced analysis and modeling of
information systems
- IT project management
- Database design
- Distributed processing
- Artificial intelligence
- Mobile systems
- Humanistic aspects of IT development
As part of the elective courses, students can acquire
knowledge covering the following groups of issues:
- Parallel processing
- Multimedia software
- Advanced database and expert systems The
obligatory and elective set includes a complex of
issues allowing the graduate to obtain the
following? Hard? technologically oriented skills
that make the graduate:

- solves complex IT tasks with the use of advanced

IT techniques in the area of problems
characteristic of the specialization: intelligent
information systems, Internet and mobile
technologies, software engineering, designing
information systems, database systems,
information systems, decision support systems,
data extraction from the Internet, integration
data from various sources

- solves the tasks of creating models, analyzing and

making decisions for various types of objects.
Students also acquire the so-called ?soft? skills
allowing them to:
- obtaining information from literature, databases and
other sources mainly in English, integrating the
obtained information, interpreting and critically
evaluating it, drawing conclusions and
formulating and substantiating opinions. The emphasis is on

for exhaustive data acquisition from the Internet

and proper verification.
- communication using various techniques, also in
English, preparation of scientific studies in this
language and presenting the results of own
research
- acquiring the habits of permanent education.
Computer Engineering graduates find employment
mainly in IT companies dealing with the production
and implementation of software. Very good
command of English and the ease of establishing
contacts with employees from various cultural
backgrounds predestine them to work in companies
with an international reach, such as: Capgemini,
Nokia Volvo IT Polska, Asseco Poland, or Comarch.
They also work in companies dealing with the
outsourcing of IT services, such as PGS, ClearCode or
Fingo, or at the leaders of the Polish market, eg
Insert. Another group of companies in which they are
employed are large companies with their own IT
departments, such as banks. In these companies,
they supervise the operation of the implemented
systems,

They initially work there as testers, programmers,

system administrators or analysts. After gaining
experience, they quickly move to the positions of
designers, software architects and project managers.

In many cases, students of this field combine

studying with work. This allows them to quickly gain
experience and confront the knowledge and skills
acquired at the university with the practice of IT
activities in companies.
Students interested in more theoretical aspects of
computer science can pursue their passions in
scientific circles, research teams and then
continue education at doctoral studies.
