SKILL 1 USE AN AC TESTER TO CHECK A WALL OUTLET FOR ELECTRICITY

1. Insert the tester into one of the outlet plugs by clicking with the left mouse button anywhere on the tester and holding
the mouse button to drag it over one of the outlets, then releasing the mouse button.
The prongs of the circuit tester should be near the outlet to be tested, as shown in figure 1-1.

2. Observe the indicator light and record its status on the answer sheet.
If the electrical outlet has voltage, the light on the tester will be on, as shown in figure 1-2; otherwise the light will be
off, as shown in figure 1-3.

3. Check the remaining electrical outlets by repeating steps 1 and 2 for each.
4. You have now used a virtual circuit tester to test for electricity in an outlet. The procedure is identical when using a real
tester. You have now completed this skill.
You may now exit the virtual trainer.
