PRINCIPLE
Justice- The moral need
to act on the basis of a fair
adjudication between
opposing claims can be
defined as the principle of
justice. As a result, it is
associated with justice,
entitlement, and equality.
This can be separated into
three areas in health care
ethics: distributive justice
(fair distribution of finite
resources), rights-based
justice (respect for people's
rights), and legal justice
(respect for morally
acceptable laws) (Gillon,
1994). Alperovitch et al.
(2009) define equality and
equity as two aspects of the
principle of justice.
PATIENT’S POV
For the patients, they must
have the right to choose
what brand of vaccine will
be use for them. In the
case of brand agnostic
policy, patients wil only
have two choices which
are to use the unknown
brand or vaccine or not. It
will violate the fair
distribution of finite
resources. In the scenario,
it has not mentioned that
the Pfizer vaccine is
limited instead the issue is
all about the violation of
social distancing. Thus,
each patient has the right
to have the brand of
vaccine of their choice.
LGU’S POV
For the LGU, they are just
concerned with social
distancing and violation of
health protocol. They are
just concern with the
patients’ sake but they are
compromising this
bioethical principle. Their
concern is the common
good of the majority but
they need to do it without
the violation of any
bioethical principle.
