H Field Antenna Probe (Single Probe Solution)

APREL Laboratories antenna probe utilizes a scientifically developed

sensor arrangement which allows for high sensitivity and directivity
detection of magnetic fields.

Infinitely small elements within the probe are designed to allow the
user to detect electromagnetic fields emitted by RF or integrated
circuits when connected to a spectrum analyzer. A separate LNA (Low
Noise Amplifier) allows for greater sensitivity and can be connected
between the probe and the spectrum analyzer to increase the
dynamic range.

The H Field antenna probe has been fully characterized and assessed
for sensitivity in air from 10kHz up to 20GHz. Characterization is done
through numerical modeling and then physical quantification of the
values experimentally during calibration.

The probe has a standard SMA interface and can be supplied with an
optional 2 meter SMA coaxial cable and dedicated calibration
certificate for a specific band or bands.

The typical response for the probe when calibrated is presented in the plot below and can be
used as a reference for determining the probe coupling factor (antenna factor) which relates
to the probe at a specific distance and frequency. The data range can be extended up to
10GHz and specific values can be provided as part of a calibration for the probe to bands
with a specific frequency span as requested by the user if requested at an additional cost.

Typical Probe Response from 10kHz to 20GHz

The advanced design of the probe shows a flat response across the frequency range where
the average un-calibrated delta is less than 1.5dBm for a 100MHz span and within 0.2dBm
when calibrated. Through calibration the physical quantity can be characterized and the
exact value presented in a calibration certificate to ISO/IEC-17025 standards for IEC-61967.

Calibration of the probe is an additional service and can be quoted at time of probe order. A
simplified calibration is offered and the data provided is similar to that which is presented in
the plot above.
