How to comprehend a topic with a dialogue

Subject- happiness

Get the main idea by trying to understand the words used in the dialogue.

First,

- Read the vocabulary words with their meanings, which are listed in the
page.

Next,

- Try to understand before you read the entire topic and if you can't
understand them try to look into the web on how to make sentences out of
those words.

- Get the synonym (similar word that has the same meaning of the other
word) of the word to further understand the meaning of it.

Lastly
- Listen to the audio and jot down (write down) some information that would
complete the thought of the topic/discussion. As a result, you would be able
to get the idea of the topic and you could summarize it the way you have
understood it.

used to say that someone has a tendency to look at situations in a positive or negative
way

A person views the situation optimistically or hopefully. 

Betty was not upset by the last-minute change, since it gave her extra time—she always sees
the glass as half full.
the glass is half empty- used to refer to a pessimistic outlook on life.
Pessimistic: negative

I'm worried about my daughter because she's normally optimistic but lately, no matter what the
situation, she sees the glass half empty.

The door needs to be in alignment with the frame before you start work on it.

gratitude
feeling grateful, expressing thanks to another person

hamster on a wheel
someone involved in activities that make them busy all the time but without ever
achieving anything important or managing to finish a task
Remember, don't be a hamster on a wheel, switch off and enjoy the moment.

satisfaction
the pleasure you feel when you do something you wanted to do, or get something you
wanted to get
A smile of joy and satisfaction lit up her eager face.

hedonic treadmill
the human tendency to return to the same level of happiness after something very good
or very bad has happened
Like a hamster on a wheel, we're stuck on the hedonic treadmill, running faster and faster, but
getting nowhere.
