1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 General Project Description

National Iranian South Oil Fields Company (NISOC) is developing NGL-1700


project in South of Iran. This project includes NGL-1700 plant, transfer line of
C2+ product to C2+ network nearby NGL-2300.
Heavy Naphtha will be injected to Haftshahidan Production Unit 12" outlet crude
oil pipeline. Lean gas will be delivered at the fence of NGL-1700 plant. Acid gas
will be delivered at the fence of NGL-1700 plant to be transferred by pipeline to
Masjedsoleiman Production Unit (Buyback).
The NGL-1700 plant will be located in the Haftshahidan region of
Masjedsoleiman, northeast of the Khoozestan province.
This plant will be able to process 105 MMSCFD gas and 13175 bbl/day
condensate from the Karun-Bangestan fields, 49 MMSCFD of sweet associated
gas from Haftshahidan Production Unit (1st stage Zilaie Asmari & Bangestan) and
27 MMSCFD sour gas from Haftshahidan Compressor Station.

The plant will include all processing units, utilities, offsite and infrastructure
necessary to produce C2+ and naphtha. Lean gas and acid gas are also
produced.

The NGL-1700 plant includes the following facilities:

- Inlet Compression Unit.

- Gas Sweetening Unit.

- Dehydration & Mercury and Heavy Metal Guard Unit.

- C2+ Recovery Unit.

- C2+ Polishing Unit.

- Lean Gas Compression Unit.

- Acid Gas Compression Unit.

- Acid Gas Dehydration Unit.

- Condensate Stabilization Unit.

- Flash Gas Compression Unit.

- Utilities and offsite required for operation.

1.2 Scope

This specification outlines the general requirements for the testing and supply
design, materials, inspection, of reciprocating compressors and related
accessories and is intended to supplement the API 618 fifth edition, Dec. 2007,
"Reciprocating Compressors for Petroleum, Chemical and Gas Service
Industries". Generally, Reciprocating Compressors shall meet requirements of
Iranian Petroleum Standard IPS-M-PM-200 "Material and Equipment Standard
for Reciprocating Compressors". Reciprocating compressor for plant, utility or
instrument air is not covered by this specification. (Mod.)
Where the Vendor’s proposed design deviates from this specification or API
standards the subject deviation shall be submitted to the Contractor/Client for
approval. Unless written approval is received by the Vendor, it shall be assumed
that no exception is granted. (Add.)
Compliance with this specification does not relieve the Manufacturer or the
Vendor of the responsibility for supplying gas compressor packages of proper
design, construction and fully suitable for all specified operating conditions.

Equipment offered by the vendor shall satisfy the following minimum service and
manufacturing experience requirements:

a) It shall be identical or validly similar in power rating, speed, discharge


pressure, mechanical design, materials and rotor dynamics, sealing
arrangement with at least two units produced by the vendor at the proposed
manufacturing plant. The units must have had at least one year’s satisfactory
operation.

b) Equipment manufactured under license, in addition to satisfying the above


requirements shall also have the licensor’s written guarantee. (Add)

The following paragraphs specifying the modifications follow the API 618
numbers, and each paragraph denotes an addition, modification, substitution or
deletion.

The API standard clause is deleted and replaced by the new clause.

The API standard clause is deleted without any replacement.

3.0 DEFENITIONS OF TERMS

3.7 Combined rod loading shall be determined for each compression stage with the
piston Speeds and the expected internal pressures (taking into account the valve
pressure drops) corresponding to:

- Specified operating conditions

- Maximum differential pressure which would be obtained if the compression


stage suction pressure was at minimum specified value and the compression
stage discharge pressure was equal to the pressure safety valve setting.

3.63 Compressor set: Complete compression unit including base plate, compressor,
driver, lubrication system, and where applicable, pulsation suppression devices,
cooling system and control system. (Add.)

3.64 Deleted.

5.0 REQUIREMENTS

5.1 Dimensions

The Data, drawings, hardware (including fasteners) and equipment supplied to


this Specification shall use the SI system of measurement and shall be in
accordance with the requirements of IPS-E-GN-100. (Mod.)

6.0 BASIC DESIGN

6.1 General

6.1.3 The capacity at the normal operating point certified by the manufacturer is to
have no negative tolerance. The compressor vendor shall submit the design
tolerance between the compressor's rated capacity and the required capacity.
This tolerance should not be more than 3%. (Sub.)

6.1.6 Unless otherwise specified, the following sound pressure limit shall be met at any
measuring location, 1m from the equipment surface.
Compressor=87 dBA -Compressor+Driver=90 dBA
Vendor shall include in the proposal complete noise data sheet indicating
guaranteed sound level for the compressor, driver and auxiliary systems, as
single noise source.

When standard “Low noise” equipment is available this equipment shall be


proposed as an option by Vendor, even if not mandatory for compliance with the
specified sound pressure level. (Mod.)

6.1.12 All elements of supply shall be suitable for the area classification specified on
data sheets.

This requirement covers electrical items like motors and heaters, instruments
using electronic devices and also mechanical parts which may produce sparks in
case of accidental friction.

Attention of the supplier is required on classification which may result from the
equipment itself. (Mod.)

6.1.20 Pumps and auxiliaries shall be suitable for outdoor unprotected installation,
unless otherwise specified on data sheets.
The equipment shall be engineered for NGL-1700 plant which will be located in
the Haftshahidan region of Masjedsoleiman, distance from Ahwaz 95km and
northeast of the Khoozestan province. Site conditions are as stated in Process
Design Bases "MIS-00-ESS-PR-001" latest revision. (Add.)

6.1.22 Flow, gas composition and gas condition will be specified in data sheets.(Mod.)

6.1.23 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
vendor shall also calculate the isentropic compression coefficient and indicate
the gas state equations used for determination of gas parameters.
Vendor shall clearly indicate with his proposal any limitation or particular
procedures for partially or fully unloaded operation resulting from specified
points, starting or stopping sequences. (Mod.)

6.1.25 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
vendor’s scope of supply shall include all the accessories and auxiliary circuits
mentioned in API 618 standard and necessary for operation of the compressor
set in the specified conditions.
Auxiliary circuits shall be designed to minimize the number of external
connections (typically a single inlet connection and/or a single outlet connection).

Accessories and auxiliary circuits shall be fully assembled (and tested as much
as possible) in Vendor's works. (Mod.)

6.2 Bolting

6.2.2 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: also
adequate clearance shall be provided to permit the us of torque wrenches,
including multipliers for torque values over 300 Nm. (Mod.)

6.4 Allowable Speeds

The rated speed shall not be higher than 500 rpm. Compressor average piston
speeds for lubricated cylinder shall not exceed following unless agreed by the
Contractor/Client:

For special high pressure services these maximum speeds could be considerably
lower, based on the manufacturer's experience.

The average piston speed in compressors handling saturated hydrocarbon gases


and in non-lubricated compressor cylinders shall not exceed 3.5 m/s. (Mod.)

6.5 Allowable discharge temperature

6.5.2 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
each cylinder shall have its own dedicated temperature measuring point for high-
discharge-temperature alarm and shutdown, which shall be as close as possible
to the cylinder discharge valve. (Mod.)

6.6 Rod and Gas Loading

6.6.1 The maximum actual rod loading shall not exceed 85% of the Manufacturer’s
maximum allowable continuous rod loading. (Mod.)

6.8 Compressor Cylinder

6.8.1 General

6.8.1.2 Unless otherwise specified in data sheets, horizontal cylinders shall be provided,
which shall have top suction and bottom discharge. (Mod.)

6.8.2 Cylinder Appurtenances

6.8.2.2 Each cylinder shall have a replaceable, dry-type liner, not contacted by the
coolant. Liners shall extend the full length of the cylinder, and shall be pinned or
dowelled from outside to prevent possible rotation. (Mod.)

6.8.3 Cylinder Cooling

6.8.3.4 Forced- Liquid coolant systems

6.8.3.4.6 Pumps in the cooling system shall be centrifugal and shall be of the horizontal
type. Pumps shall comply with project specification for “Centrifugal Pumps in
General Service”. Pumps shall have nodular cast iron or steel casing. Each pump
shall have a suction strainer with a 40 mesh SWG 32 stainless steel screen.

6.9 Valves and Unloaders

6.9.1 Valves

6.9.1.4 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: the
seats and guards of valves with metallic plates in sour service shall comply with
the requirements of “NACE MR0175”. All lines to or from unloader shall be
AISI316L stainless steel. (Mod.)

6.9.1.10 Metal valve plates shall be completely machined and not of the punched out
type. (Mod.)

6.9.2 Unloaders

6.9.2.1 Unless otherwise specified, cylinder unloading shall be accomplished by either


valve depressors or plug-type unloaders. (Mod.)

6.10 Pistons, Piston Rods and Piston Rings

6.10.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
hydraulic tightening methods are preferred for all piston rod nuts. Piston with
diameters larger than 500mm, may only be furnished with the explicit approval of
the purchaser. (Mod.)

6.10.3 Pistons

6.10.3.2 Replace "if specified", by the "unless otherwise specified". (Mod.)

6.11 Crankshafts, Connecting Rods, Bearings, and Crossheads

6.11.2 Bearings

6.11.2.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
minimum bearing life for operation under specified conditions shall not be less
than 32000 hours. (Mod.)

6.12 Distance Pieces

6.12.1 Distance Piece Types

6.12.1.1 Type of distance piece will be specified on data sheets.(Mod.)

6.12.2 Distance Piece Requirements

6.12.2.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
distance pieces compartments shall be equipped with gasketed solid metal
covers for toxic or flammable gas service. (Mod.)

6.12.2.3 Replace "if specified", by the "unless otherwise specified". (Mod.)

6.12.2.4 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
unless otherwise stated, vent of the distance piece adjacent to cylinder shall be
connected as follows:
- For compression of non-flammable and non-toxic gas to a local vent.

- For compression of a flammable non-toxic gas to a remote vent with flame


arrestor or to a flare system.

- For compression of a toxic gas to a flare or a gas treatment system. (Mod.)

6.13 Packing Cases and Pressure Packing

6.13.1 General

6.13.1.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
gaskets and sealing systems for hydrocarbons or for application under
hazardous conditions shall be designed in such a way that gas leakage cannot
occur during or after shut-downs. (Mod.)

6.13.1.3 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
methods of detection of pressure packing leakage shall be proposed as option by
the compressor Vendor. (Mod.)

6.13.1.6 The paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std: for services
containing H2S the API arrangement is mandatory. In the data-sheet the piston
rod packing shall be purged with nitrogen. For that a complete pressure control
station per compressor shall be provided with the minimum equipment as follows:

6.14 Lubrication

6.14.2 Compressor Frame Lubrication

6.14.2.1 General

6.14.2.1.3 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
duplex full-flow filter shall be furnished. The compressor sump or the oil reservoir
(if separately installed) shall be equipped with an oil thermometer. When the oil
tank is separate, it shall be made of 316 L stainless steel. (Mod.)

6.14.2.1.11 Required quantity and specification for lubricating oil shall be specified in the
proposal. (Add.)

6.14.2.2 Auxiliary Pump

Auxiliary oil pumps shall be electric motor driven and the operation of which shall
be integrated into the compressor start sequence. The pump shall preferably be
rotary type. (Mod.)

6.14.2.3 Cooler

The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: for
water cooled exchangers the oil pressure shall be at least 1 bar greater than the
water pressure.
Section c shall be modified to read as follows: Coolers shall be furnished with
removable bundles and the minimum tube wall thickness shall be 1.65 mm (16
BWG). (Mod.)

6.14.2.4 Filters

The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: the
filters shall be of the duplex type complete with a separate or integral continuous-
flow transfer valve that provides tight shutoff of the idle filter. (Mod.)

6.14.2.5 Heater

If the specified minimum ambient temperature is less than the minimum lube oil
temperature required by the manufacturer for starting, Vendor shall furnish a
removable electrical heating element for oil reservoir.
Compressor sets without heater shall not have any operating limitation due to
minimum ambient temperature. (Mod.)

6.14.2.6 Pressure Relief Valve

The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: all
relief valves shall be mounted outside the crankcase. (Mod.)

6.14.3 Cylinder and Packing Lubrication

6.14.3.1 General

In the case of lubricated compressor, forced feed oil lubrication shall be provided
for cylinder segments and packing (material will be selected by the Vendor for
the specified application). At least one lubricating point shall be provided per
packing and two lubricating point per cylinder. The oil supply shall be designed
with mechanically driven oil pump and complete piping (in stainless steel).
In case of non-lubricated compressors completely oil free delivery must be
ensured under all conditions.
Neither oil nor oil-mist may enter the process gas chambers in the machine
during start-up, run-down, shut-down, full - and part - load operation. (Add.)

6.14.3.1.1 Unless otherwise specified single-plunger, per-point lubrication shall be


furnished. (Mod.)

6.14.3.1.4The paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std: if the specified
minimum ambient temperature is less than the minimum lube oil temperature
required by the manufacturer for starting, Vendor shall furnish a removable
electrical heating element for oil reservoir. (Mod.)

6.14.3.2 Pump to Point Lubrication

6.14.3.2.1 General

6.14.3.2.1.2 Lubricator reservoirs shall be equipped with a low level alarm. Piston rod packing
of cylinders with a rated discharge pressure of 10000 kPa g (100 bar g) or more
shall have a minimum of two lubricating points unless otherwise specified.

Piston Rod packing of cylinders with a rated discharge pressure above 25000
kPa g (250 bar g) shall have a minimum of three lubricating points unless
otherwise specified. Lubricating points shall be made on the upper side of the
piston rod. (Mod.)

6.15 Materials

6.15.1 General

6.15.1.2 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: when
the Vendor’s quoted material specification is DIN, JIS or another international
standard, the proposal shall indicate the nearest above named American
specification equivalent along with exact and specific deviations (chemical
properties, physical properties, testing, etc.) From this indication, the Contractor
will evaluate equivalence for service intended, and approve the Vendor’s
proposal. (Mod.)

6.15.1.8 The Contractor will specify gas composition and any corrosive agents present in
the fluids or in the environment. If concentration of these corrosive agents is not
quantified, the Vendor shall state any concentration limitation implied by his
compressor and material selection. (Mod.)

6.15.1.10 The anti-seize compound shall be suitable for the operating temperature. (Mod.)

6.15.1.11 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: all
materials exposed to H2S gas service as defined by NACE MR0175 shall be in
accordance with the requirements of NACE MR0175 and also NACE
MR0103..(Mod.)
In Annex Q , all components are required that to be NACE MR0175 , also shall
be according to NACE MR0103.(Add.)

6.15.2 Pressure Containing Parts

6.15.2.1 Gray cast iron shall not be used for compressor cylinders. Above 7000 kPag
cylinder relief valve pressure, nodular cast iron (also known as ductile iron) shall
not be used. (Mod.)

6.15.6 Repairs to Castings and Forgings

6.15.6.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: the
Contractor /Client shall be given notice of any major component repair A defect
identification plan showing the type and the dimensions of scouring after defect
removals shall also be submitted by the Vendor. (Mod.)

6.15.7 Welding

6.15.7.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: for
each weld, the following documents shall be submitted to Contractor for review:

7.0 ACCESSORIES

7.1 Drivers

7.1.1 General

7.1.1.2 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: the
full flow relief condition at the discharge and normal conditions at the suction
shall be taken into account when the sizing the driver. Any limitation on starting
or special provision to be furnished by the Contractor shall be stated in Vendor’s
proposal. (Mod.)

7.1.1.5 When several operating conditions are specified, Vendor shall determine the
worst case (operation and starting) for sizing accordingly the driver. Load on
driver in case of operation of a compression stage against safety valve setting
discharge pressure shall be evaluated. (Mod.)\

7.1.1.9 V-belt drives are not permitted. (Sub.)

7.1.2 Motor Drivers

7.1.2.1 Electric motor drives shall comply with MIS-00-ESS-EL-004 “Specification for
Induction Motors” and MIS-00-ESS-EL-019 “Specification for MV/HV Induction
Motors”, as applicable and IPS standard IPS-M-EL-131, IPS-M-EL-132(Mod.)
Motors, electrical components and electrical installations shall be suitable for the
area classification (zone, gas group, and temperature class) specified by the
Contractor on the data sheets. The compressor vendor shall be responsible for
the complete unit including driver, coupling, etc. (Mod.)

7.2 Couplings and Guards

7.2.1 Couplings

7.2.1.2 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
model, material, service factor and mounting arrangement of coupling shall
comply with API std. 671 as amended/supplemented by IPS-M-PM-310.
Coupling manufacturer shall be from the agreed sub-suppliers list or approved by
Client.
Couplings shall be designed to retain the spacer in case of discs failure. For
compressors direct driven by one bearing motor, rigid flange coupling type is
preferred.
Couplings with spacers must have a sufficient length to permit the following work
to be carried out:
- Removal of the coupling hubs (with hydraulic equipment),
- Removal of the bearings adjacent to the coupling (Mod.)

7.2.2 Guards

7.2.2.4 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: if
required, guards shall be provided with eye bolts for lifting purposes. Opening
provided in flywheel guard for barring over shall be covered by a hinged or sliding
door. Removable coupling guards shall effectively enclose any moving part and
may be of Vendor’s standard.(Mod.)

7.2.2.3 In addition to other specified safety requirements coupling guards shall be


designed to withstand a minimum, static vertical load of 1000 N. (Mod.)

7.3 Reduction Gears

7.3.1 For compressors having ratings above 225kw (300 hp), if recommended by the
vendor & approved by purchaser, gear units may be used. (Mod.)

7.5.3.6 Unless otherwise specified anchor bolts will be furnished by the Vendor in this
Case. The design and method of installation in the foundation will be subject to
the vendor's review and approval. The Vendor will provide the shims required for
erection and fine alignment of the machines during installation (Mod.)

7.5.3.9 Leveling plates shall be supplied. Leveling plates (see Annex L) shall be steel
plates at least 19 mm (3/4”)thick. (Mod.)

7.5.4 Baseplates and Skids

7.5.4.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: the
selection of the axis height and the dimensions of the base plate are such that
proper work on the flange connections of all machine nozzles is permitted. (Mod.)

7.6 Controls and Instrumentation

7.6.1 General

7.6.1.1 Compressor control system shall meet the requirements of MIS-00-ESS-IN-007


“Specification for Package instrumentation and Control”. (Mod.)

7.6.1.6 Each piston rod of a compressor shall be provided with a non-contacting probe
for rod run out measurement. (Add.)

7.6.2 Control System

7.6.2.1 The control and instrumentation shall be adequate for controlling the compressor
safely and efficiently at the operating conditions specified in data sheet. (Mod.)

7.6.2.4 Automatic startup unloading (unattended by operator) shall be provided for driven
units when the motor is not designed to start the compressor, loaded and the
compressor:

If any unloaded steps of capacity control are limited in duration of operation,
vendor shall advise in his proposal the method to be used (e.g., periodic loading)
in order to prevent accumulation of lube oil or heat build-up in the cylinder. The
Vendor shall clearly indicate the maximum time the compressors can withstand
unloaded operation. (Mod.)

7.6.2.7 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
valve sequencing and timing for start up, normal shut down and ESD shall be
specified by manufacturer. (Mod.)

7.6.2.10 If clearance pockets are recommended by the Vendor, they shall be


pneumatically actuated.

7.6.3 Instrument and Control Panels

The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
A local gauge panel for the complete compressor set shall be supplied.
Control panel consists of annunciator, controllers, recorders, vibration monitoring
system, selector switches, push buttons, indicating lights and PLC system to
control start-up sequence as well as normal and emergency shutdown.
Control panel for each compressor train will be located in main equipment room
(Air conditioned and pressurized) and shall contain panel mounted "HMI".
Each compressor train shall have also separate gauge panel at site.
PLC programmer, operating program, software and user program shall be
supplied by vendor.
Flash memory shall be used for PLC user program.
Unit control panel shall be contracted to main control system via redundant serial
link.
Wiring termination for different voltages if any shall be housed in separate
enclosures. (Mod.)

7.6.5 Relief Valves

The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
Vendor supplied relief valves shall be in accordance with make and type agreed
by the Contractor. Brass and cast iron safety/relief valves and fittings are not
accepted. All safety valves shall have flanged inlet & outlet connection. (Mod.)

7.6.6 Alarm and Shutdowns

7.6.6.6 Alarm and shutdown devices shall be energized at normal operating conditions of
the system and be installed such that device failure, power wire breakage etc.
will cause alarm and/ or shutdown to activate. (Mod.)

7.7 Piping and Appurtenances

7.7.1 General

7.7.1.4 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
vendor shall clearly identify the requirement of insulation or heat tracing on the
related drawings. Pulsation suppression devices shall be arranged to facilitate
the attachment of insulation, if required. Vendor shall supply all process and
auxiliary piping inside the base frames up to a limited number of connections
located at skid edge. (Mod.)

7.7.1.6 Vendor will be given drawings and information on the equipment immediately
upstream and downstream of limits of supply for incorporation in the calculation
of the pulsation suppression devices. Vendor shall review and comment these
documents and request further details if necessary. (Mod.)

7.7.1.10 Using threaded connections are allowed only on instruments, when approved by
the Contractor. (Mod.)

7.7.1.16 Vendor shall be responsible for on-skid piping design (if any) (calculation notes
to be handed over to Contractor). (Add.)

7.7.2 Frame Lubrication Oil Piping

7.7.2.3 All lubricating oil piping, fittings and flanges, including return lines, shall be
stainless steel as minimum 316L S.S. All lube oil system valves shall be carbon-
steel with stainless steel trim. (Mod.)

7.7.6 Process Piping

7.7.6.2 Pulsation suppression devices, temporary start up screen (to be installed just
upstream of suction pulsation suppression device), the removable spool pieces
and required pressure taps to allow monitoring of pressure drop across the
screen shall be supplied by Vendor.(Mod.)

7.7.7 Distance Piece Drain and Vent

7.7.7.3 Degassing vent lines shall be designed for the maximum cylinder end pressure.
The design shall also ensure that leakage gas from piston rod seals or from
possible gas breakout is safely carried off to avoid unacceptable pressure

7.8.1 Intercoolers and After Coolers

7.8.1.5 The supplier shall supply thermo wells on the cooling-water inlets and outlets of
the intercoolers and after coolers. (Add.)

7.8.1.6 Unless otherwise specified, water-cooled shell-and-tube intercoolers and after


coolers shall be designed and constructed in accordance with TEMA R, as
amended / supplemented by IPS-G-ME-220, Finned tubes and U tubes are not
acceptable. (Add.)

7.8.1.7 When air coolers are specified, they shall conform to IPS-G-ME-245. (Add.)

7.9 Pulsation and Vibration Control Requirements

7.9.1 General

a) Suppression devices and piping design shall meet the mechanical and
performance requirements as listed in this specification. The design shall
consider the most economical combination of the following techniques, listed
in order of preference:

1) Increasing the suppression device and/or pipe volumes above the


minimum required by detuning
2) The application of orifices.
3) Addition of suppression device internal elements
4) Addition of secondary suppression devices. (Add.)

b) Unless otherwise specified, the vendor shall provide pulsation suppression


devices at the suction and discharge side of each compression stage.

Volume bottles (defined as vessels without any internals, with a diameter of at


least twice the line connection diameter, and having an internal volume of at
least 12 times the piston displacement per revolution of all connected
cylinders) shall be used as pulsation suppression devices.(Add.)

7.9.5 Pulsation Suppression Devices

7.9.5.1.2 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
volume bottles shall be designed for full vacuum service. Suction pulsation
suppression devices shall be designed for the same design pressure as the
discharge pulsation suppression devices except when protected by a relief valve
provided by Vendor. (Mod.)

7.10 Air Intake Filters

7.10.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
mounting of inlet filter shall be designed to limit vibrations of the filtration media to
an acceptable level. If connection between the air filter and the first cylinder inlet
flange uses a flexible piping, this piping shall be designed for complete vacuum.

8.0 INSPECTION, TESTING AND PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT

8.2 Inspection

8.2.1 General

8.3.3.6 Auxiliary equipment not integral with compressor such as auxiliary oil pumps, oil
coolers, filters, etc. shall be subjected to a functional test and cleanliness
verification as a subassembly in the vendor’s shop if not used during a
compressor running test. (Sub.)

8.3.3.7 The compressor shall be dismantled for inspection which shall be carried out as
follows:

- Internal surface of cylinder liners to be checked for roundness, required


surface finish and material imperfections.

- Piston rings and rider rings to be checked for gap clearance, groove clearance
and bearing surface

- Piston rod to be checked on packing area surface and run out which shall be
in accordance with the limits of (Annex C).

- All valve assemblies to be checked for correct lifting height of valve plates and
leakage (leakage test of valves to be done either with air or with low viscosity
solvent, water is not allowed).

- Main bearings, crank bearings and cross head to be checked for correct
bonding of Babbitt material to the base metal and for correct bearing surface.

- Crankshaft journal, crank pin and cross head pin to be checked for the bearing
contact area.

- Crankcase to be internally inspected to check:

- Locking device of all bearing bolt nuts.

- Correct fitting of lubricating oil piping to main bearing.

8.3.4.5 Packaged Unit Test

When specified, such components as gears, the driver, the control panel, and all

with the compressor during the mechanical running test. This will include, but not
necessarily be limited to, coolers, vessels, piping, all instrumentation and all

electrical equipment in the scope of supply of the Vendor. Compressor control


system and all associated instrumentation shall be demonstrated to be fully and
correctly operational. Details of the extent and the procedure of the test shall be
included in the proposal. The final version of the test procedure shall be
subjected to purchaser's approval. (Add.)

8.4 Preparation for Shipment

8.4.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: the
purchased equipment shall be suitably packed for the marine and overland
transportation. Details of the package, including weights and dimensions, shall
be submitted for the Contractor approval. The preparation shall make the
equipment suitable for 12 months of outdoor storage from the time of shipment
(Mod.)

8.4.8 The painting application procedure, type and characteristics of rust preventive,
compounds for coating of the equipment internals and external machined
surfaces shall be submitted for the Contractor review and approval. (Mod.)

8.4.15 All materials shall be shipped together and separate shipment is not acceptable.

8.4.23 Instruments and other delicate items shall be specially packed to ensure
additional
protection during transportation. (Add.)

8.4.24 Spare parts shall be fully clamped inside a container and protected against
impact and/or damage during transportation. (Add.)

9.0 VENDOR’S DATA

9.1 General

9.1.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
vendor shall submit the documents and data as listed in the “Technical
Document Commitment for Compressors” as per the dates, types and quantities
specified therein. All documents shall be in English language. (Mod.)

9.2 Proposal

9.2.1 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
priced spare parts list shall be included. (Mod.)

9.2.3 Technical Data

s. The Vendor's Proposal shall also contain an installation list containing the
following:
1) Compressor manufactured at the proposed point of manufacture having
comparable speed, power, rating, cylinder size, and discharge pressure of a
gas of comparable analysis and characteristics.

2) Date of installation and beginning of continuous process service. (Sub.)

9.3 Contract Data

9.3.1.2 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: the
purchaser will state in the inquiry and in the order the number of prints and/or
reproducible required and the times within which they are to be submitted by the
vendor (6 numbers shall be furnished unless otherwise noted). (Mod.)

9.3.2 Drawings

The purchaser's order number and the purchaser's equipment item number shall
be provided on every drawing. (Mod.)

9.3.3 Performance Data

9.3.3.1 Vendor shall submit performance curves or tables and shall assume complete
responsibility for design, engineering and manufacture of the compressor in such
a way that it can provide the guaranteed capabilities in industrial service. This
responsibility also extends to the specification of the parts and accessories sub-
contracted by the Vendor. (Mod.)

9.3.3.2 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: rod-
load and gas-load charts shall be furnished for the worst specified operating
conditions and in case of operation of one cylinder against safety valve setting
discharge pressure. In any case the vendor is responsible for satisfactory load
reversal for all specified operating conditions. (Mod.)

9.3.3.5 The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618:
Calculation of time for acceleration to full speed shall take into account any
necessary allowance over the expected parameters. (Mod.)

9.3.5 Progress Report

Vendor shall submit progress reports at regular interval and in addition as soon
as an unexpected event may justify extra resources to maintain the scheduled
delivery date.(Mod.)

9.3.6 Recommended Spares

The following paragraph shall be added to the related clause of API std 618: an
illustrated part list shall be furnished. (Mod.)

10.0 GUARANTEE

10.1 Mechanical

All supplied material, equipment and/or stated component parts shall be


guaranteed by Vendor against defective material, design and workmanship,
when operated under normal conditions, for 12 months after commissioning and
putting it into operation but not exceeding 24 months after the date of shipment.
The guarantee period for repaired or replaced parts shall be 12 months after start
up of repaired equipment/items but not more than 18 months after the shipment
of repaired or replaced equipment/items parts or replaced. (Add.)
If the defect or failure cannot be corrected, Vendor shall replace promptly free of
charge said equipment or shall remove the equipment and refund the full
purchase price.

10.2 Performance

The equipment shall be guaranteed for satisfactory mechanical & hydraulic


performance at all operating conditions specified on the data sheet. Besides,
selected equipment shall be, in all respects, well within the range of the
manufacturer’s proven experience, and shall not involve the use or application of
any prototype design or components. (Add.)

10.3 Spare Parts

10.3.1 Vendor is to include in his proposal recommended spare parts for start up,
commissioning and 1st two years operation, indicating price and delivery.(Add)

10.3.2 Vendor shall guarantee the availablity of supply of spare parts for ten years as
minimum. (Add)
