environmental awareness, using energy resources and eco-
friendly technologies, reuse of wastes, and recycling
activities starting from production activities of businesses
to packaging and delivering to consumers. Businesses have
now become aware that environment must be preserved
and tended towards green management as a result of
destructed and demolished environment, and the effect of
hunger, scarcity, global problems despite developed
societies. Businesses have switched from traditional
management mentality to environment-oriented green
management.

▪ The objective of green management is to

ensure operation activities be performed in
accord with environment, to preserve
environment in business objectives, visions
and goals as well as operation functions, to
enable continuous development, and to
select technologies in accordance with
sustainability principle.
WHAT IS GREEN MANAGEMENT?

in a capacity where no negative impact is
made on the local or global environment, the
community, or the economy. A green
business will also engage in forward-thinking
policies for environmental concerns and
policies affecting human rights .

conserve the earth's resources, you make
your business more efficient, and reduce
costs.

▪ Save money.
▪ Earn consumer and community trust.
▪ Comply with government regulations.
▪ Create new market opportunities.
▪ Increase efficiency and productivity.
▪ Cultivate employee trust and loyalty by
creating a safer, healthier workplace.
▪ Reduce your carbon footprint by reducing
greenhouse gas emissions.
HOW CAN BUSINESS ENTERPRISES
GO GREEN?
Going green involves four general objectives, which
form EMAP’s “Building Block” approach to
greening your business:

▪ ENERGY – Improve efficiency and reduce

consumption.
▪ MATERIAL -The product or service that you offer
may itself be considered green. But even if not,
you can make decisions on a daily basis about
your day-to-day operations that reduce your
impact on the environment, and possibly save
you money at the same time.
MATERIAL are grouped into several categories:

▪ Packaging

▪ Waste

▪ Water use

▪ Building material
▪ ASSURANCE -To truly "go green", a business
owner has to consider many things. First, he
or she must ensure that the business is in
compliance with all relevant environmental
regulations, which are in place not only
to protect the environment from pollution or
degradation, but to also protect people from
harm, and to maintain quality-of-life
standards.
▪ PURCHASING -As you "green" your own
business, you can encourage the companies
you buy from to produce or purchase their
products more sustainably as well. Make your
purchasing dollars have an impact by
choosing vendors and products that are
organic, sustainable, recycled or recyclable.
SPECIFIC WAYS:
▪ - Monitoring the level of energy consumption
and take appropriate actions in order to
reduce it.

▪ - Replacement of desktops to laptops, which

consume up to 80% less energy.

▪ - Use of reusable products.

▪ Planting trees around the building.

▪ The creation of the Green Team - team of
employees, who will be worked on further
pro-ecological initiatives or monitor the
effectiveness of already implemented ones.
The establishment of such a team, promotes
greater involvement of people in the affairs of
the company, it can also raise their morale.
Very often these activities relate to the
phenomenon known as "greening the office",
but they might be also the part of the Green
Management essence.
