Course Descrip
tion :
This course will
introduce students
to the principles
andprocesses of
organic farming as
an alternative
system of farming.
Students can
gainunderstanding
on the
cultural practices
(crop rotations,
cover crops,
pest management,e
tc.) and biological
processes
(composting, soil
food web, plant
and animal health,
etc.)
that form the basis
for organic
production of plant
and animal
products (fruit,
nuts,vegetables,
grain, forage,
pasture, milk,
meat, and eggs).
Finally, this course
allow themto be
acquainted with the
standards being
implemented in the
production
andmarketing of
organically-grown
farm products in
the domestic and
international
markets.
