Historical knowledge as essentially ‘scientific’, and saw the historian’s task as the ‘re-enactment of past
thoughts’. An approach to historical knowledge which focuses primarily on historical ‘phenomena’ on
that scale, simply as objects of ‘present’ concern, is in danger of losing sight of the essential relativity of
past and present which is fundamental to the principle of re- enactment. Knowing historical knowledge
would give you advantage in knowing what you should be aware of and avoid doing things that may
offend the country that you want to put up your company.
