Alcatel Hotel Link (AHL) - A4400
CONFIGURATION WITH EXTERNAL
APPLICATIONS

1. MULTI-OCCUPATION AND SINGLE OCCUPATION PARAMETERS

The configuration of A4400 in "Multi-occupation" or "Single occupation" mode for the connection to
an external hotel application is essential. The "Management per guest" label is also used for Multi-
occupation and "Management by room" for Single occupation.
This mode must be set BEFORE configuring all the users corresponding to the rooms, since it is not
possible to change this mode during the configuration.
To configure A4400 in Multi-occupation mode, you must set the parameter
Applications/Hotel/Multi Occupation to YES
By default, this parameter is set to Single occupation mode.
CAUTION
Do not confuse this with the Applications/Hotel/Check In Facility/Multi Occupation parameter
which has no impact on the management mode, but only at the set display level when a set is
called.

2. AUTHORISING CHECK-IN, CHECK-OUT OPERATIONS

There are often two problems arising in management of the REPLY messages by the PMS (Property
Management System) on the A4400 AHL:
− The PMS does not take into account the "REPLY" messages sent by A4400.
− One result is that PMS does not resynchronise on the GPIN.
The external hotel application does not manage the "REPLY" messages sent by A4400 on the AHL.
This is a problem when these "REPLY" messages are replies to the "CHECK-IN", "ALLOCATION" and
"CHECK-OUT" messages sent by the PMS.
For "Room-status", "Overbooking", "Line busy" or "Messages not consulted" reasons, the fact that the
"REPLY" messages are not taken into account is not problematic since this can be by-passed and the
A4400 can be configured so as not to refuse to carry out the CHECK-IN, CHECK-OUT and
ALLOCATION operations.
− To authorise CHECK-IN regardless of room status, you must set the parameter:
Applications/Hotel/Check In Facility/Room not done to YES
− To authorise CHECK-IN even if there is "Overbooking", you must set the parameter:
Users/Number Of Set Users to value ≥ 1

Alcatel Hotel Link (AHL) - A4400
CONFIGURATION WITH EXTERNAL
APPLICATIONS

− To authorise CHECK-OUT even if the line is busy (external communication), you must set the
parameter:
Applications/Hotel/Management Services/Checkout If Ext. Call to YES
− To authorise CHECK-OUT even if there are messages that have not been consulted in the voice
mailbox, you must set the parameter:
Applications/Hotel/Management Services/Checkout If Voice Mess to YES
On the other hand, for "Number already allocated" reasons, the fact that the "REPLY" messages are
not taken into account is not problematic, since it is not possible to configure the A4400 to force it to
carry out these same operations (which, in any case, is not desirable!).
This may happen on each A4400-PMS desynchronisation.

3. CALL ACCOUNTING TICKET

3.1. Format
Two formats are available on the AHL:
− normal ticket (SMDR),
− extended ticket (Extended SMDR).
The choice is made by setting the parameter:
− Applications/Hotel/Computer Link/Extended Ticket to NO for normal format,
− Applications/Hotel/Computer Link/Extended Ticket to YES for extended format.

3.2. Other parameters

− The external hotel application manages either the cost or the number of charge units.
The choice is made by setting the parameter:
Accounting/Front Office Computer Parameters/Displayed Value to Cost or Units
− Masking the last digits.
The choice is made by setting the parameters at:
Accounting/Front Office Computer Parameters /Nb Of Last Masked Called Digits.

4. NON USE OF THE PASSWORD

In order not to impose the password assigned to the guest on check-in, you must set the parameter:
Applications/Hotel /Room Personnal Code to NO
