Subject: - Regarding amendment of the Recruitment Rules for the post of

Assistant Superintendent of Posts

Department of Posts has proposed to revise the Recruitment Rules for the post of
Assistant Superintendent of Posts. As per DoP&T OM No. AB-1401716112O08-Estt.(RR)
dated 13.10.2015, the proposed amendment in the Recruitment Rules is being put up in
public domain for 30 days i.e. on the website of lndia Posts for inviting comments from
stakeholders.

G'S'R' .......G).-In exercise of the powers conferred by the puoviso to article

the Constitution and in supersession of the Department of posts (Assistant
Superintendent of Posts) Recruitment Rules, 2018, regulating the method
of
recruitment to the post of Assistant Superintendent of Posts, except as respects
things done or omitted to have been done before such supersession, the president
hereby makes the following rules regulating the method. of recruitment
to the post
of Assistant superintendent of posts in the Department of posts,
namely:_

1. Short title and commenceuent._ (t) These rules mqy be called the
Department of Posts (Assistant Superintendent of Posts) Recruitment Rules,
Z,OZL."'

Q) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the official
Gazette.

specified in columns (2) to (+) of the schedule annexed to these rules.

3. Method of recruitment, age'limit, qualifications etc. The method. of

recruitment, age'Iimit, qualifi.cations and other matters relating to the said post
shall be as specified in columns (b) to (rs) of the said schedule.

4. Disqualifications. - No person,-
(a) who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a
spouse livingi or
(b) who, having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage
with any person,
shall be eligible for appointment to the said post:

permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and the other party
to
the marriage and that there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any person from
the operation of this rule.
5' Forver to Belax'- Where the 0entral Government
is of the opinion that it is
necessary or expedient so to do, it may, by order,
for reasons to be rocorded in
writing and in consultation with Union Public Service Commission,
relax any of the
provision of these rules with respect to any class
or category of persons.

6' Saving'- Nothing in these rules shall affect reeervation,

relaxation
limit and other concessions required to be provided for the Scheduled of age.
Castes,
scheduled rribes, ex'servicemen and other categories persons,
