NORSU Full Blown Research Proposal Guidelines

I. Research title
a. What are you trying to investigate, find out, determine or discover?
b. Who are the respondents?
c. Where - setting or place where the study is conducted.

II. Introduction
a. Briefly describe the existing and prevailing problem situation based on the proponents’
experience. The scope may be global, national, and local
b. Strong justification for selecting such research problem
c. Relate the background of the study to the proposed research problem
d. Briefly discuss the problem statement, general and specific objectives

III. Review of Related Literature


a. It should be written in terms of the purpose of the study.
b. It should be organized thematically to conform with specific problems
c. It should be synthesized such that evidence from all the studies reviewed would get an
overall understanding of the state of knowledge in the problem area.

IV. Significance of the Study


a. This could be in the form of new knowledge in the field, a check on the major findings of
other studies, a check on the validity of findings in a different population, a check on trends
over time, and a check on the other findings using a different methodology.
b. It discusses the importance of the study to the society, the country, the government, the
community, the institution, the agency concerned, the curriculum planners and developers,
and to the researchers.

V. Methodology
a. Describe the research mode, whether it is descriptive, experimental, qualitative,
ethnographic, historical and etc.
b. Describe the sampling technique and how the sample size is determined.
c. Specify the type of research instrument used, such as a standardized instrument that is
adopted or borrowed with permission from the authors.
d. Statistical treatment of data. Explain how each statistical test is used in the treatment of
data.
