Google is an excellent place to work, especially for young adults who wish to

obtain worldwide experience. Due to its varied compensation programs and

benefits and its CSR activities, Google is also one of the most competitive

companies in the labor market.

A1:

Google has always been one of the most forward-thinking companies when it comes

to corporate social responsibility. As an individual looking for new chances, the

company's CSR status piques my curiosity. This is because a firm that practices

CSR and takes it seriously has a higher likelihood of having a highly valued

management and organizational culture. They aren't merely interested in the

company's profitability. They want to show their social responsibility by assisting new

entrepreneurs with small and medium business funding and training programs, as

well as technical improvement to help address nature's ongoing destructions.

Socially responsible companies enhance employee morale and allow them to be

imaginative and creative in their CSR efforts.

A2:

Google's vision and mission statements primarily focus on making nearly all

information available to everyone on the planet. Their business strategy is to build

talent from many industries and update the search engine with high-quality data and

a list of related topic options. They also employ continual technical innovation and

expansion as a corporate strategy, as Google already has a search engine,

electronic emails, cloud storage, location map, YouTube, and many more services.
These techniques provide them with a significant competitive advantage over the

competition. Currently, Google is the industry's trendsetter, which implies that other

companies follow in their inventive footsteps.

Yes, a firm's vision, mission, and corporate strategy are crucial because it outlines

how the organization sees the future and shows them where the company is going.

Furthermore, these statements provide concrete proof and a foundation for

determining whether or not an employee is a good fit for the firm. In terms of Human

Resource Management, Google's vision, purpose, and corporate strategy

demonstrate that human capital is their primary source of innovation. They strive to

collaborate with outstanding and talented people to achieve their goals and

objectives. As a result, HRM is an essential department for sourcing individuals and

screening them before joining the company. They are also responsible for ensuring

that these brilliant people remain loyal to the brand and promote better work

retention and continuity of innovation.

Two Relevant Articles:

1. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/google-advised-mental-

health-care-when-workers-complained-about-racism-n1259728

 Summary of the article:

This article discusses Google's current and ongoing racial and gender

discrimination issues and how the corporation handles these issues when an
employee raises them. It also demonstrates the lack of variety in giant

corporations such as Google and Apple, which are global businesses. This

book tells the accounts of former and current employees who have

complained about discrimination against people of color from supervisors.

Still, the only support they have received is a leave of absence and a

recommendation for counseling.

 Impact on HRM:

Diversity has always been a problem for large corporations, and HR

departments are expected to deal with it effectively. According to the story,

Google HR has a problem dealing with discrimination issues. This will

negatively influence Google's human capital because today's talents and

potential candidates seek companies that treat them well and treat them as

individuals rather than commodities. Different types of people from various

cultures contribute to innovation; therefore, race and prejudice concerns will

only encourage creativity and imaginative ideas.

 Changes the HR can make:

HR should address the issue at hand by reviewing previous cases and

determining the source of the problem. HR should address the issue at hand

by reviewing previous cases and determining the source of the problem.

Seminars and talks on the value of diversity in the workplace are also

beneficial. To help employees have an excellent working environment, make

a policy where racists and sexual predators are penalized or fired.

2. https://www.shrm.org/resourcesandtools/legal-and-

compliance/employment-law/pages/google-settles-pay-and-hiring-bias-

case.aspx

 Summary of the article: From 2014 to 2017, Google committed to

compensating employees who did not get proper wages and employee

candidates who were not accepted due to alleged racial discrimination by

interviewers. Accordingly, pay discrimination is a problem that has been

addressed by numerous laws, such as pay equity.

 Impact on HRM: The result is that contrary to Google's claims, HR is still

closed to diversity. Additional work on pays equality analyses, as well as

pieces of training and seminars for HR employees on how to deal with diverse

talent prospects and raises. This coalition agreement may also have the

unintended consequence of reprimanding HR employees for their actions.

 Changes the HR can make: HR staff receive training and seminars on

dealing with and raising talented candidates from other cultures. Regular

performance evaluations and reviews should be introduced as policies. To

eliminate gender discrimination, salary brackets on positions should be

established.
A4:

I am reconsidering my decision to work for Google. The choice is influenced by

publications on how HR has dealt with racial and gender discrimination issues

regarding work ethics and remuneration. A corporation that does not have a solid

Human Resources department has an inherent and internal problem. This is

incongruent, given that Google is a significant firm whose corporate strategy includes

human capital. Unfairness and prejudices are two of the most harmful behaviors in

any organization, and this trend is continuing. Suppose Google's rules for dealing

with employee grievances are not adequately addressed. In that case, talented and

exceptional people will turn their backs on them and hunt for organizations that

pledge to treat them equally.
