Dear VTU UG/PG Student of PESIT BSC,

Hope you all are safe and taking extreme precautionary measures in these testing times of
Pandemic owing to COVID 19 outbreak.

On behalf of PES Management, Faculty and Staff, would like to put across directions for way
forward during these testing times of COVID 19.

In these anxious times, please know that everyone including Teachers and Students all are in
the same boat. Every one of us is experiencing this situation for the first time. For many
Institutions COVID 19 posed several challenges on academic front. At the outset we at PES
take pride in ensuring academic continuity with tremendous efforts put by our Teachers and
virtual classroom facilitation from PES Authorities right from 17th March.

I am aware of the apprehensions you have been carrying in your minds on several aspects.
For all these apprehensions, Hon'ble Vice Chacellor of VTU had provided some respite
through the Video Conference with Principals of affiliated Colleges under VTU. Please find
below the modus operandi on each of these aspects that will be adhered to in PESIT BSC

1. Status of Academic Activity across colleges:

On an average 70% students are having good internet access for virtual classroom. Study
material across colleges is via Online Lectures, Subject Notes etc.,. PESIT BSC takes pride in
completing almost 80 % syllabus till date.

All colleges have geared up to Digital Mode of Academic activity. We at PESIT BSC have
Institutional registered access via Impartus with individual student access.

All Colleges have established contacts with all their students and are regularly mentoring
them through their faculty. Even parents are being contacted on regular basis and updated on
the modalities adopted. PESIT BSC is at the front end in this activity

Every subject Teacher is putting tremendous effort in extending personal support to each
student assuring academic value enhancement. PESIT BSC is also a leading Institute in this
regard.

At PESIT BSC Learning outcomes are verified through assignments, Quizs etc.. Wherever
possible, Lab support is enabled in virtual mode.

All Colleges will be able to reach close to 90% syllabus coverage by May 3rd. PESIT BSC is
way ahead.

Way forward after Lockdown 2.0 is lifted (as per Hon'ble VC's directions, provided students
are allowed to return to Campus)

For B.E 8th Sem, close to 2 Weeks handholding will be made before they appear for End
Semester Theory Exams. For Completion of Projects additional 3-4 Weeks will be provided
to complete and appear for Viva Voce after Theory Exams.

The same is valid for 4th Sem M.Tech and 6th Sem MCA. Theory exams also include exams
of 8th Sem. Current regular scheme will be given priority.

For lower semester of B.E (upto 6th Sem) handholding will be done for 4 to 5 Weeks before
theory exams followed by Lab Exams. For Lab exams minimum 75 % Experiments need to
be covered and allowed for practice remaining 25% can be provisioned if possible.

CIE (Continuous Internal Evaluation) will be a combination of IA test Assignments, Quizs

etc. IA test will be held after students arrival in Campus. Decision on One test or Two tests
after lockdown will be taken well in advance.

In this directions PESIT BSC has decided to have 10 Hours of Contact on each day when you
are back on campus to catch up with the curriculum on fast track mode. If needed we will
also work on Sundays (probably for half a day). Please note sufficient time will be available
to catch up before writing the Exams.

Handholding include syllabus completion along with revision from subject teachers in
Campus after lockdown. PESIT BSC has already put this in place. Tentatively Exams will be
completed in June for 8th Sem and Final semester of PG. For lower Semesters exams will get
over in July.

Please note there will be no Vacation for students including Teachers Calender of Events for
next Academic Year will be staggered contiguously from the end of even semester.

2. Safety Guidelines (Valid even after Lockdown is Lifted):

All mandated guidelines from ICMR to be adhered by Students, Teachers,and Institutions

(Viz., Masks, Sanitisation, Social Distancing, etc)

3. Placement apprehensions:

At PES efforts are on to discuss with all scheduled Companies for recruitment drives. Please
understand, even the Recruiting organizations are anxiously waiting for campus drive. Our
Placement office is continuously in touch with more than 30 Companies which had canceled
Recruitment Drive due to COVID 19 Pandemic. These Organizations are eagerly waiting for
Drives to restart. For any clarifications you are free to seek updates from Placement Office in
PESIT BSC headed by Prof. Animesh Giri.

4. Expectations from students by PES in these testing times:

Do not allow anxiety to overtake you beyond limits. Be relaxed. Have faith, PES is there with
only one point focus about welfare of its stake holder ensuring a fulfilled academic career to
every student on its campus. Whatever Lecture material or study material is provided, adhere
to timelines and do not postpone on these things which may invite taxing times at the end.

Be in touch with your Mentor/Advisor/Class Teacher and also Subject Teacher and clarify all
the concerns about way forward and doubts in subjects.

5. Exceptions:

Students need to escalate in case there are concerns on internet bandwidth availability. Be in
constant touch with your mentor and work out with alternate modes of academic activity.
Please be aware we are there to support you on all aspects and concerns. Trust us in this
regard.

In spite of all the limitations, please be advised PESIT BSC will continue to be impartial and
recognises the students through their sincere efforts. Feel secure that you are in the portals of
PES, in turn at PES we reciprocate the trust and faith you have reposed in us.
