Join the groove guide string

1. Choose Curve tab→More gallery →Join Curves .

2. In the graphics window, select one of the projected curves used as the groove
guide string.

3. In the Settings group, ensure the Associative check box is selected.

4. From the Input Curves list, select Hide.
5. From the Output Curve Type list, select General.
6. Click OK.

Create a length expression

1. Choose Analysis tab→Measure group→Measure Length .

2. Select the joined spline.
3. In the Associative Measure and Checking group, select the Associative check
box.

This creates an expression to save the measurement.

4. In the Results Display group, from the Annotation list, select Show
Dimension and clickOK.

Note the value of the expression.

5. Press Ctrl+E.
6. In the Expressions dialog box, select p40 (Length Measurement (9)).
7. In the Name box, type groove_len and press Enter.
8. Click OK.

Test the associativity

1. In the Part Navigator, select the Sketch (3) feature and expand
the Details panel.
2. Locate the expression p12 and double click the Expression box.

This expression defines the sketch length.

3. Type 165 and press Enter.

4. Use either the Details panel or the Expression Editor to edit the value of p14,
the sketch width, to 152.4.

The measure length expression displayed with the part updates according to
the changes made to the parent sketch.
If there was a defined limit to this expression you can monitor the development
visually in the graphics window.

5. Close the part.

You completed the activity.
