GENERAL METHODS OF TEACHING


Course Description

The present course introduces the variety of methods used by teachers in teaching. The
course provides an outlay of the pedagogical techniques essential for an effective teacher,
starting from lesson planning up to the achievement of educational objectives. The traditional
and modern approaches to teaching are explained via the content of the course. The course
also provides a detailed description of the passive and active methods used in teaching. At the
end there is a detailed account of using instructional Aids by teachers for making the teaching
learning process more effective.

Objectives

After Completion of this course students will be able to:

1. Explain the basic concepts of teaching


2. Describe the importance and usage of lesson planning
3. Practice different teaching methods in classroom.
4. Organize classroom discussion and demonstrate its appropriate use
5. Select appropriate audio visual aids in classroom teaching
6. Apply teaching skills on indentifying learning difficulties in the classroom
7. Select, prepare and use appropriate teaching materials
