There are many great inventions and discoveries in the history of humankind that changed

our lives forever. One of them is the invention of electricity. It changed so many things in the way we
live like the way it affected our social lives and how it made our everyday tasks easier with inventions
of electric household appliances.

The invention of electricity brought many other inventions like appliances we use on a daily
basis. Most of us can’t even imagine how humans have lived without these helpful devices.
Refrigeration appliances such as freezers and refrigerators help us prevent our food from spoiling in a
way easier and effective way than how they did it before electricity. Washing appliances like
dishwashers and washing machines save us a tone of time. They also decrease water usage
remarkably. Cooking appliances make cooking so much easier and they make it better thanks to
stoves and ovens having more precise temperature control than their non-electric versions. Another
thing we owe to electric kitchen appliances are modern recipes. There is more room to make new
recipes now since there are fewer practical restrictions.

Our social lives have been greatly affected by the invention of electricity. Phones are one of
the biggest reasons for that. We can have long and strong relationships with people without even
seeing them. We use texting and calling to communicate deeply with people we haven’t even seen or
to keep in touch with people we love. Moving on to a different point, electricity also gave us social
media. Social media changed our social lives by a few different ways. Firstly, it made the world
smaller so there is a lot of cultural exchanges now which directly affects the way we communicate.
Secondly, it made it easier for us to keep in touch with people who had been in our lives. And thirdly,
it provided us anonymity so we can share radical opinions without feeling pressured.

All in all, the effects of electricity changed how we live greatly by changing our social lives
and making doing chores faster and easier with modern home appliances. I think it is one of the most
important inventions and that can be proved by how all of us who grew up with it don’t even want to
think about what we would do without it.
