STAR:
I have placed the San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc., Petron Corporation (Fuel and
Oil), Bank of Commerce, Ginebra San Miguel Inc., San Miguel Brewery Inc. to the star
quadrant because these are the most diversified products that offering a broad range of
high quality foods and institutional. Moreover, these products are generate large
amounts of cash because of their strong relative market share and also consume large
amounts of cash because of their high growth rate.
QUESTION MARK:
I have placed the San Miguel Brewery to the question mark quadrant because the
market saturation for alcoholic beverages due to new social trends, including healthy
living mindset. These subsidiaries have high growth prospects but a low market share.
However, if these product are growing rapidly, they have the potential to turn into stars
in a high growth market.

CASH COW:
I have placed the SMC Properties, Inc. (Real State), SMC Infrastructure and SMC
Global Power Corp. to the cash cow quadrant because I think it is high exposure to
sectors that are capital intensive market with low profit margin.
DOG:
I have placed the mining industry to the dog quadrant because mining industry has
always been a risky one, with worker safety concerns representing only a portion of the
challenges. Increasingly strict regulations, the reliance on technology, inconsistent
demand for raw materials and high commodity prices are concerns.
