Tunantada Festival
It begins on January 20 in the district of Yauyos (Jauja) celebrating the festivity of the
patrons of the district: San Sebastián and San Fabián. In this dance, the settlers imitate
the Spanish conquerors. The dancers wear wire mesh masks, with painted eyes,
mustaches and white complexions. Some of the participants carry a baton and knee-
length pants, imitating the colonial Spanish stereotype. I like it because the festival is
very fun and interesting and I like to learn new customs and I enjoy them to the
fullest.              _________________________________________________________
