b The tiger is one of the most alert animal yet it is in danger.-Why?
* Poaching and illegal hunting remains a very severe threat driving this animal on the verge of
extinction.
* People hunt tigers for its skin and also for pleasure.
* Deforestation also poses threat to tigers as it destroys their habitat and hence its food supply/prey.

c How are humans a threat to animals living in the jungle?

3 What steps have been taken by our government to protect the wildlife?
Ans The number of tigers and many other animals in our country is reducing.

There is a danger that some of them will soon disappear.
* To protect the animals,our government has made some forests as protected areas.
* Some of them are Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand and Ghana in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan.
In these areas nobody can hunt animals or destroy the jungle.

Snakes have an amazing sense of smell. They can use their tongues to pick up on all kinds of smell in the

Snakes cannot hear ; Snakes have no visible ear, so they don't hear sounds; it feels the vibrations
through its tongue.

10 How is our sense of smell useful to us?


Ans
Sense of smell is helpful by various ways.
The nose is our sense organ which help
us to smell the things and help us to
detect or recognize the quality of
substances by which we become alert
and do not consume or use them.
Example- the spoilt food or eating stuffs which are not good for our health
Besides smelling the bad food and the smell of burning, our sense of smell helps us to choose
good food, perfume, soap, incense stick etc. and also to find out if any cloth is stinking due to sweat.
