 How to select the right television antenna for your boat
When choosing the appropriate TracVision antenna for your boat, you need to consider your cruising area and the coverage and
programming offered by television satellites covering the region where you will travel. Satellite signal strength varies, so as you
travel farther offshore or in remote areas, you may need a larger antenna to ensure consistent reception wherever you cruise.

TracVision Satellite Television Coverage* Maps

Satellite TV services are broadcast using powerful spotbeams aimed at land masses where the bulk of subscribers are found.
The satellite Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) levels of each KVH product provides an indication of the antenna
size and power/efficiency necessary to reliably receive the TV signal in a certain area. On lakes, rivers, and in coastal waters,
an antenna that works in a minimum of 50 dBW EIRP is usually sufficient to receive the signal and provide satellite TV serv-
ice. However, the signal strength decreases as you travel farther offshore and approach the edges of the coverage area. Use
the colored lines on the footprint maps below to determine the antenna type that best meets your needs and then visit the
service provider website to determine what programming is available.
