From the Booster President

What an exciting time we are having this year. The chorus student officers nicknamed 2004-2005 the "Extreme
Makeover" year. Isn’t that an understatement? Our building is being remodeled and we are meeting at the other end
of campus in pretty cramped quarters, but that should only be until January. Two new talented directors stand at the
head of the department, but a few distracting storms have kept them from the firm organization they have had in
mind. Our uniform company discontinued our uniforms, so we start over again on that with all new clothing for the
entire 100+ students. And so it goes.

And yet, the music continues. Step into the classroom any day and hear sweet strains of sopranos and altos,
harmonious voices of tenors and basses. Together again they combine into sounds that will please your ears and
calm your soul. Pop, jazz, major works, and minor. This music continues. Isn’t that why we are all here?

Thank you to the parents who continually show up to do what is necessary to further the work of the program.
Uniforms and forms, scenery and props, risers and lights, food and drink, you are here. Thank you to the directors
and their talent, patience, insight and enthusiasm. They are taking us into an energized and promising future. Thank
you Andrew Minear and Trent Patterson. We have placed our children in your hands and | delight in the results.
And thank you to the students, whose hard work and willingness to learn and practice and practice some more result
in wonderful musical experiences for your audiences. We stand and applaud your efforts. Our hearts go out to you
and the future where your many talents will be shared. The world will be a better place because of you. So, on with
the music.

For its Excellence in Music

Since its establishment in 1953, the Kiwanis Club of North Orlando has supported the
efforts of numerous youth activities throughout Central Florida. It sponsors the Kiwanis
Little League; the longest continually sponsored Little League Program anywhere. It also
sponsors the annual Kumquat Bowl, now in its 51“ year. Proceeds from the Bowl benefit
Pop Warner Football and many local youth activities. No wonder our motto 1s:

| HEAR AMERICA SINGING
I hear America singing, the varied carols | hear,
Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe
and strong,
The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam,
The mason singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off
work,
The boatman singing what belongs to him in his boat, the deck hand
singing on the steamboat deck,
The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench, the hatter singing
as he stands,
The woodcutter's song, the ploughboy's on his way in the morning,
or at noon intermission or at sundown,
The delicious singing of the mother, or of the young wife at work,
or of the girl sewing or washing,
Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else,
The day what belongs to the day-at night the party of young
fellows, robust, friendly,
Singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs.
