Introduction

The aim of this report is to outline the current situation on the

condition of public transport system in my city, identify areas that need
improving and make recommendations for implementing these
improvements.

Background Information
Our city Cluj-Napoca has a well-organized public transport system,
not only because of the big/wide variety of
choices/options/opportunities, but also because of the outstanding
timetables and the fact that the whole area is enmeshed with bus lines.
People travel by bicycles, electric rollers, buses and trams. Traffic
congestion appears, generally from 8 o’clock until 9 am and 6pm in
areas like Szászfenes and Kisbács.

Recommendations
A great “tactical” idea discussing the traffic jams in the above
mentioned territories would be implementing more bus lines, since
these jams are due to the fact that people go home from work, the city
center, each one by car, and of course a lot of cars build up long lines.
Another way of improving would be motivating people in some
way to use public transport, as research has shown that a full bus,
depending on size, can be boarded by 50-80 people. Proposing that 50-
80 people use cars of an average length of about 4.2 meters, it means
that a capacity of a bus (about 14 meters) will consume up to 210-336
meters of road.

Conclusion
The above recommendations would be easy to implement, and
would greatly enhance the public transport system.
