essay

Vegetarian lifestyle is a hotly debated topic, that often divides opinion. There are benefits, and of
course also drawbacks of it, and it is always hard to decide whether or not it would be beneficial to
cut out meat. The question in this essay is, would it be a good idea to ban meat from a college
cafeteria, and whether or not its advantages outweigh the disadvantages it comes with.

Firstly, it is undoubtedly the case that vegetarians usually have a much healthier lifestyle than
others, although this may only be the outcome of the fact that they pay much more attention to
what goes into their bodies,/do they consume when in the meantime, others sometimes forget to
even think about it. However, scientist approve, that when someone has a balanced diet, eating
both veggies, fruits and meat they can be as healthy as any non-meat eaters. Professionals think,
that nobody should be forced to eat a way or another, but everyone should be able to find balance,
and not overdo any diet.

Secondly, it is often claimed, that no meat consumption could be also beneficial for the
environment. The animals we breed need a lot more food than us, humans, and the energy we use
to grow them as fast as possible, could be used for a lot of different things too. This way, the plants
we grow would have much more space, and we should not use as many chemicals either. It would
mean a greener space, and of course less animal torture in the future too.

Despite the fact that you can have a balanced diet eating meat too, I firmly believe, that banning
meat from the canteen would be the best choice for everyone. It would not only benefit the
students’ health, but also mean a big step towards a healthier and more balanced environment.
