1. Selected students need to present their entry including an oral explanation
Finalist Communication of their vision followed by a Q&A session with the jury.
2. The judges’ panel will include VP- RDI, Executive Directors and
representatives from Research Institutes.

1. 3 winning groups/ 6 students will be sponsored by QF RDI and HBKU Research


to attend the 62nd London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) in UK on
Awards 28th July- 11th August 2021 (airfare, registration and accommodation only).

2. 2 groups will win Gift Certificates

II. Background

The QF RDI goal is to bring together brilliant young women and men possessing a
passion for promoting and developing science, technology and research. With this initiative,
young students can learn more about key global issues and increase their awareness of and
responsibility for playing crucial roles in establishing a sustainable future for the world.
The London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) is one of longest established
residential science conferences in the world hosting students from over 70 different countries.
It provides opportunities for them to interact with the experts in a world-class program of
lectures, workshop and scientific visits. The programme is designed to educate, stimulate and
inspire young students to be aware of the needs of the world. Being a regular participant of
the LIYSF, QFRDI organizes this competition for qualified students in Qatar to encourage young
people to be mindful of their surroundings and stimulate their initiative as to how they may
contribute, as young adults, for the betterment of the future for everyone.

III. Competition Objectives

A poster competition opens to all schools in Qatar under the Ministry of Education and
Higher Education (MEHE). The aim of this competition is to promote innovative and creative
ideas by utilizing students’ creativity and develop problem-solving skills.
QF RDI shall promote research activities among the participating students to enhance
their exploration skills and help them to apply research methods for the resolution of the
challenges identified.
IV. Eligibility of Participants
➢ All High School students aged 16 and above of STEM-based curriculum or equivalent
schools (national and international schools) credited and recognized by the MEHE
(Ministry of Education and Higher Education).
➢ All students should have a valid school ID and QID
➢ Individual or group up to 2 students per project
➢ The maximum entry allowed from each school is 5 projects.

VI. Poster Specification


➢ Poster should be original and unpublished
➢ Artwork must highlight innovative ideas addressing the world challenges for a development of
sustainable environment and better future.
➢ The poster should be A1 in size (594 × 841 mm) and must contain the title, name of
students, goals, objectives, and significance of the research. The text size should be 20- 25 and
the font used should be Calibri.
➢ The text should be written in English.
➢ PDF file of the poster must be submitted to info-scienceforum@hbku.edu.qa

About LIYSF:
➢ 15-day residential science event based at Imperial College London for students aged 16-21
years old
➢ World leading scientists give 12 main lecture demonstrations
➢ 500 students attend from over 70 countries worldwide
➢ 4-day visits to the best UK university laboratories (London, Oxford, Cambridge and UK),
research centers and scientific institutions (choice from over 55 visits)
➢ 4 specialist lecture sessions, across subjects such as; Artificial Intelligence, Nano-
technology, Engineering, Robotics, Biology, Medicine, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and
Astrophysics (choice of 32 lectures)
➢ Active social programme to share and learn about different cultures
➢ Students gain new knowledge and skills, connections and a broader perspective
