Lecturer Professionall Development Programme

The British Council Indonesia is offering a funded development 'programme, as part of UK


ID 'English Digital knovation Grants, to support development in 'gher Education in
Indonesia.
The 'EMI Pathfinder' programme is being developed and offered by the University of
Sheffield ELTC, UK and Universitas nd1oneeia, Depok (UR) from April 2022 to January
2023 as Teacher Professional Development (TPD) courses to support EMI and
internationalisation in your institution,
luring these courses, participants will engage with key E,MI topics aimed at current lecturers
with experience Os' interest in the teaching of subjects through English. The programme
aims to increase the lecturers confidence, knowledge skills to teach through English and to
help them design and deliver development activities for other lecturers in your institution.
The participants will reflect on and develop in their EMI contexts with both Subject and
English teachers by completing a series of part-time, on-lline courses and a 5-day intensive,
face-to-f ce course (in 'VI, Depok) delivered by UoS staff from the UK.
We invite your histitutdonhlaculty/dep urtment to nominate up to four lecturers to join this
British Council Indonesia funded programme. We hope that you can successfully implement
or further develop EMI teaching, modules and development for your international educati n.

o Nominees must be lecturers in pArs: 1 English lecturer/teacher from the
university/institution and 1 s bject lecturer from the Faculty of Social Sciences AND 1
English lecturer/teacher from the university/institution and 1 subject lecturer from the
Faculty of Hard Sciences. Both pairs should be currently teaching or who will be
assigned to teach English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI).
• Nomi ees should have an interest in teacher development in EMI and be motivated and
supported by your institution to complete the training.
O Nominees should be proficient users of English (equivalent to IELTS 7/iBT TOEFL 95
for the English lecturer/teacher and IELTS 6.0/iBT TOEFL 80 for the subject lecturer).

G Nominees must agree to join and be supported to complete both the courses delivered
online via 'Moodle' and the face-to-face training which is b& .g delivered at Ul in
Depok (please see the details of dates and course len h below).
e Nominees should disseminate the knowledge and skills that they have acquired by
conducting some dissemi ation training or activities for lecturers in their university or
universities in the surrounding areas.

rtilegalation Costs
The tritish Council UK-ID English Digital Innovation Grant will cover the University of
Sheffield travel and honorarium for the programme delivery, the cost of participant lunches
and refreshments during the workshops. Universitas Indonesia will provide the workshop
venue and will coordinate logistics. If your nominees are accepted for participation, yom.
university would be expected to cover all expenses related to their travel to and minimum 4-
night accommodation in Depokillakarta (i.e., airline/train ticket, local ground transportation,
lodging, and all meals other than the lunch provided at the workshop). Please note that while
we hope to accept as many of your nominations as possible, the final selection of participants
will be affected by the total number of nominations we receive from other institutions of higher
education.

A minimum of 80% participation on the two online courses (April 25 — July I) is required in
order to be eligible to join the Master Training Course in July 2022. Afterwards, participants
are required to join two more online courses (August 8 — October 14, 2022) that are needed to
design dissemination activities and an EMI module. A minimum of 80% participation is also
required for these two online courses. Later participants are required to disseminate their
knowledge to lecturers in their universities, or universities in the surroursiding areas, with the
final product of some training activities. Each institution must complete the dissemination
activities no later than January 27, 2023 and a subsequent short report no later than February
11,2023.
