MAIN STREET UNIONVILLE MARKET TERMS AND CONDITIONS

GENERAL
The Main Street Unionville Market is open to all vendors who grow, make and sell products.
This market has no exclusivities, no exemptions or restrictions to the type or amount of similar
or shared products between vendors. All competition is welcome and equal. We will do our
best to ensure a vendor of a similar product is not directly beside you when possible.

➢ Sunday June 6th 2021 – Sunday Sept 19th 2021 – 9am-2pm


➢ Location : Stiver Mill at 9 Station Lane, Unionville
➢ Space per vendor is 10 feet by 10 feet, assigned by Market Manager – two spaces may be
purchased together
➢ All spaces outside – washrooms available inside but no tables due to COVID regulations
➢ Weekly fees of $40 + HST per space
➢ One-time seasonal fee of $600 for 16 weeks + HST
➢ Unionville Market will be RAIN or SHINE. If the Unionville BIA considers the weather
threatening to vendors and visitors, it will cancel and give notice to vendors 24 hours prior
to the Market and provide a refund for that date. Otherwise, there are NO refunds for
vendor space once booked and paid for as your market fees go towards market promotion,
advertising and management.
➢ Vendors must have at least $2 million (per occurrence) liability insurance including a cross
liability clause and naming the Unionville Business Improvement Area and the Corporation
of the City of Markham as additional insureds.
➢ There is no smoking within the Unionville Market space

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Vendors must be set up and ready to sell no later than 8:45am. Tear down will not take
place until market closing time.
2. Vendors may only sell the products listed on their Vendor Application form, as approved by
Market Manager – lists may be updated with the approval of the Market Manager.
3. Booth rental fees must be prepaid 5 business days in advance of your booked date(s). If you
subsequently miss and/or cancel a market date, fees are not refunded. Vendors are not
permitted to sublet their booth space. The Unionville Market will NOT accept any
applications the day of the market. NSF cheques will have a surcharge of $40.00.
4. Vendors are responsible for their own set-up, take-down and clean up (teen volunteers may
be available to assist). There are NO tables, tents or chairs for rent please bring your own.
Tents MUST be weighed down with proper weights – no stakes allowed in ground or
cement.
5. Vendors are responsible for the behaviour of their staff and agree to abide by reasonable
rules and regulations as determined by the Market Manager.
6. Vendors are responsible to obtain and comply with all necessary licenses, permits, and
regulations related to the sale of their products.
7. Food Vendors are responsible for ensuring all York Region Health regulations are followed
and forms completed and approved.
8. Vendors are responsible for their clean up. If there is garbage left behind, the Vendor will
incur a $40.00 clean up fee.
9. Vendors are requested to display the prices of their products/services.
10. The Market Manager assumes the right to reassign your spot if you are not set up by
8:45am. If you are late or cannot make it, please call the Market Manager. Any three missed
weeks in a season will result in a vendor losing their assigned spot regardless of the
circumstances. There will be no refund of vendor fees.
11. Vendors may pull up close to their tent location to unload, but then must park in behind the
Stiver Mill. Unloading MUST be completed by 8:45am.
12. The Unionville Market reserves the right to refuse rental space for any reason.

Non-Profits, Community Groups and Service Club Participation

Non-Profits, Community Groups and Service Clubs will be permitted a single booth space (if
available) at no cost. Each group will be allocated a space at the discretion of the Market
Manager for promotion, education purposes and sale of products to raise funds for charitable
purposes. Each group may be eligible (space providing) for a total of 3 weeks in the 16 week
period. Each group is required to provide 1 week notice with a complete application form to
participate. Space is limited and dependent on availability. We must at all times ensure 51%
food products being sold in order to operate as an essential service.

BIA Member Participation

A member of the BIA is eligible to have a single booth space at no cost. They are required to
give a minimum of 1 week notice if they wish to participate. There will be reserved space for
members, but is limited and is dependent on availability. Maximum participation of 3 weeks in
the 16 week period. We must at all times ensure 51% food products being sold in order to
operate as an essential service.

We hope that you will consider our Market as a safe, comfortable environment to sell your
products. We need to remain diligent with our COVID-19 measures now so that we can return
to the enjoyment the Market will surely bring in the future. Please understand these rules and
regulations will be enforced by the staff, City of Markham Bylaw and York Region Health.

In consideration of the Unionville BIA accepting my/our entry for participation in the Main
Street Unionville Market during the summer of 2021, I/we intending to be legally bound, do
hereby for myself/ourselves, my/our heirs, executors and administrators, wave and release
forever all rights and claims on damages I/we may accrue against the Unionville BIA and/or The
Corporation of the City of Markham, and all personnel or agencies involved in promoting the
Event, for any and all injuries (including death) or damages suffered by me/us while travelling
to and from and while participating in the Main Street Unionville Market.

MAIN STREET UNIONVILLE MARKET 2021 COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN

The Unionville BIA will enforce strict COVID-19 measures during the Main Street Unionville
Market.

➢ No seating areas or kids play areas


➢ Physical distancing between vendors (6 feet between tents)
➢ One-way pedestrian traffic with social distancing
➢ Mandatory masks
➢ Sanitizer at each Vendor tent
➢ Contract tracing for all Vendors, Staff and Volunteers
➢ COVID screening questionnaire for all Vendors, Staff, Volunteers and Visitors

Communications

➢ All social media platforms will be used to inform the public about the COVID-19 regulations
and updates, as well as signage throughout the Market

Vendor policies
➢ Use tables and other barriers to ensure customers keep a safe distance from you and your
products
➢ Consider all sides of your booth. To prevent customers being tempted to approach your
booth from the side, ensure that the area is also blocked or expanded to ensure a safe
distance is maintained.
➢ Have hand sanitizer available for both you and your customers
➢ No sampling
➢ No use of reusable or customer supplied containers

To handle Customer interactions/sales


➢ Ensure all products are pre-packaged and kept behind your table as recommended in the
above section. This ensures customers will not handle your products before they have been
purchased.
➢ Masks are required
➢ Keep a 6 foot distance from customers at all stages of making a sale where possible.
➢ Try to round your prices to dollar values that will not require change
➢ Sanitize your hands and any common surface area after every customer interaction
