FINAL METHODOLOGY

A descriptive qualitative research design was used to successfully meet the

study's goal. The qualitative design features and techniques are sought as the
most effective and feasible method of data collection for the study in this case.
This chapter focuses on the researcher's research methods and procedures
used to answer the specific problems that were posed for investigation in a
systematic manner. Similarly, this goal will highlight how the lockdown affects
poultry farms in the Philippines and how farmers deal with the problem in the
current study. The study used phenomenal to achieve this goal, with the
poultry raisers' data based on the available information gathered from the
secondary source.

According to Statistica, the gross output value of the poultry industry in 2019
was around 245.3 billion Philippine pesos. The agriculture sector's overall gross
production value, which includes forestry and fisheries, was about 1.8 trillion Philippine pesos in
the same year. According to the SALARY EXPERT Powered by ERI, the average
gross salary of a poultry farmer in the Philippines is 172,293 pesos, or 83
pesos per hour. They also get a bonus of $2,068 on average. Salary
estimates based on salary survey data from anonymous employees and
employers in the Philippines. The average salary for an entry-level poultry
farmer (with 1-3 years of experience) is $135,064. A senior level poultry
farmer (8+ years of experience), on the other hand, earns an average salary
of 204,895. According to compensation data from SALARY EXPERT, the
estimated salary potential for Poultry Farmer will increase 39 percent over the
next 5 years.

According to the United Broiler Raisers Association (UBRA), some local

governments have erected roadblocks and imposed personnel restrictions,
affecting deliveries and supply chains. Despite the national government's
order to allow food deliveries through checkpoints, this happened. The poultry
industry has also been hit by the drop in demand, with farm gate chicken
prices falling to P30 on Saturday from P69 prior to the lockdown (March 29,
2020).

Local government units are failing to execute the national government's regulations, making it
difficult for poultry producers to deliver chicken to Metro Manila and portions of Luzon. Poultry
immunity, health, and production are all issues that pose a threat to the poultry industry's future
growth. Consumer confidence, product quality and safety, product kinds, and the development
and re-emergence of illnesses will all remain important obstacles to the industry's current status
and strategic future. This review's philosophy of chicken production will not be confined to
disease control considerations. Rather, it will take into account the animals' health, wellbeing,
and immunity as a whole. It is critical to understand that hens are not vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2
(COVID-19) virus intranasal infection. Nonetheless, the COVID-19 pandemic will have an impact
on poultry consumption, transportation, and farming economics. It will also examine the
economic, ethical, and social elements, as well as the maintenance of high environmental
security. To meet human demands and maintain sustainable agriculture, stockholders,
veterinarians, farmers, and all other stakeholders in the chicken production chain must be more
active in the current situation and the industry's strategic future.

Various chicken farms around the country have suffered negative consequences as a result of the
present COVID-19 illness crisis. Unavailable materials, feeds, and supplies for chicken buildings
are only a few of these difficulties (Food and Agriculture Organization, 2019). Quarantine
measures and lockdown have made it impossible for poultry employees to move back and forth
from their houses, according to Estrella, Maria Charisma's case study on the impacts of the covid-
19 epidemic on chicken raisers. These large-scale farms must do extensive disinfection and
COVID-19 testing in order to assure the safety of their employees and workers in the poultry
area. With the outbreak of the pandemic, veterinarians and nurseries in charge of monitoring the
health, vitamins, and vitals of chickens were forced to close. As a result, poultry owners are
extremely attentive and cautious while handling their hens, as the circumstance has made
treating and managing diseased chicks difficult.

Philippine News Agency is already doing various studies and statistics researchers for
COVID-19 reaction and poultry procedure modifications.Based on their reports,
there has been a 40% decline in poultry business since the onset of the
pandemic. There has been an excess of chicken as a result of the closure and
liquidation of most food enterprises, resulting in a price drop from Php70 to Php30
per kilo (Food and Agriculture Organization, 2019). Aside from the market, a Food
and Agriculture Organization study revealed how nations responded to and mitigated
the present negative consequences on cattle output. These measures, however, are
only accessible and available to large-scale farms and poultry company owners due to
the lengthy procedures and rigorous handling regulations. Small-scale poultry farm
operators, on the other hand, are facing even more difficult challenges. As a result,
there is cause for worry about the existing state, processes, and mitigation of small-
scale farms in the aftermath of the recent disaster.

According to Roger Pe, innovators in the poultry business have used cutting-edge technologies to
increase our output rate. Modernization has even become us the region's new darling. The
Philippines stunned everyone four years ago by receiving Asia's most coveted prize at "Livestock
Asia," the industry's Oscars, which were hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Bounty Fresh Chicken
was named Asia's best at the largest meeting of livestock, egg, and meat producers, and became
the first Philippine brand to get such an honor. It swept all four categories on its way to earning
the top award: technological excellence, food safety, marketing excellence, and industry
leadership. Bounty Fresh has grown to become one of the country's largest and fastest-growing
broiler integrators in just 17 years.
