FADE IN:

1. INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT

CLOSE UP

Of a COMPUTER LAPTOP SCREEN. We see Video MONTAGE Highlights of

Basketball Super Star and Phenom DAVID ‘DEE’ STEWARD. We See:

1. High school photos of Dee and his team holding up their S.A.C. BIG RED
MACHINE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY

2. Dee in College hitting the buzzer beater shot like Jordan to win the NCAA
championship.

3. Dee at a press conference.

DEE
After winning championships at both high school and college
level. I have decided to enter this year’s draft and take my
talents to the NBA and to hopefully win a couple there also.

4. Dee being drafted as the 1st DRAFT PICK by the CHARLOTTE HORNETS. We see
him being congratulated by Team Owner MICHAEL JORDAN, who presents him with
an Official HORNETS CAP and his GAME JERSEY. It has his name STEWARD on the
back, with the NUMBER 35. He is all smiles. He made it.

5. At the NBA Draft, we see a teary eye Dee taking Photos with his AGENT, parents
MR & MRS. STEWARD, his 10 year old sister PEYTON and Michael Jordan.

6. The 2nd draft pick MYLEZ ‘THE BEAST’ JOHNSON is upset as hell. He complains
to his parents and family. Very upset, he points at Dee while putting on the hat of his new
NBA team.

7. TNT’S ‘INSIDE THE NBA’ with SHAQUILLE O’NEAL, KENNY ‘THE JET’
SMITH, CHARLES BARKLEY and ERNIE JOHNSON watching the draft interviews.

MYLEZ ‘THE BEAST’ JOHNSON

(being interviewed at draft)
I just think this is bullshizz. I had just as good stats. I should
have been the 1st draft pick. But it’s ok. We will see each
other in the NBA. And I’ll show him and everybody who’s
the best. Just watch and see.
2.
DEE
(being interviewed)
Listen man, I don’t know what the hell Mylez talking about.
I just gave him the biznizz when we won the championship
over them. Duh! He must still be delusional from all the dunks
I put on him. He acting like something is going to change in
the NBA. Only thing change is that I will be getting paid to
beat his ass, that’s it. So all I gotta say to him is bring it bro.
Who want some can get some. I ain’t hard to find. Facts.

ERNIE JOHNSON
So guys what do you think about what you just saw?

CHARLES BARKLEY
Ernie. Mylez is crazy. He is the 2nd best player in the draft.
Dee Steward’s stats are better than his. Plus he can’t tell teams
who to pick first. What’s wrong with him?

KENNY SMITH
Chuck is right. The team with the 1st pick looks at what they
need to make their franchise better. They are both excellent
scorers and defenders. But Dee has better maturity and is a
freak force of nature. You guys heard of Godzilla. Well my new
name for Dee in the NBA is DeeZilla. And on top of that He is
an unselfish and better player who will make other players on
the team better.

SHAQ
Yes. Jordan made the right choice. Dee Steward is the best
choice to build around to help his franchise win their first
championship.

CHARLES BARKLEY
But Ernie, It should be fun to watch those two.

KENNY SMITH
Well let the rivalry from college to the NBA continue.

SHAQ
So which one of those guys you think will be rookie of the year?

ALL OF THEM
Dee.
3.

SHAQ
Listen, if Dee plays like he can play. It won’t even be close.

CHARLES BARKLEY
And I Guaranteeeeee It!

KENNY SMITH
Oh Shucks. Chuck guaranteed it. That does it. He’s screwed.
(they all laff)

Camera Pulls Back To Reveal 10 year old WILFRED MOSS lying in his bed with laptop.
The Camera Pans His Room. We see many PHOTOS of him and Dee. It is obvious he
idolizes Dee.

On his laptop, a FACEBOOK MESSAGE pops up from ‘MOM’. It READS, “IT’S

11:59 PM. GO TO BED. With a HEART and KISS EMOJI .’ Wilfred types ‘OK’.

MOM types ’I’M SERIOUS. GO TO BED NOW. DON’T MAKE ME HAVE TO

COME IN THAT ROOM OR ELSE.’
Wilfred types ‘OKAYYYYYYYYY.’ He adds a couple FROWN FACED AND
BROKEN HEART EMOJIES. He then turns off his laptop and goes to sleep.

2. EXT – HOUSE – FRONT - DAY

We see a nice regular looking three bedroom low cost house in an inner city area. We
HEAR the BOUNCING of a BASKETBALL coming from the back of the house.

EXT. HOUSE – BACK – DAY

We see Mr. Steward coaching Dee on his basketball drills.

Drill 1. He has some chairs set up that Dee has to dribble the ball around then step back
and shoot 15 footer jump shots.

MR. STEWARD
Nice. Let’s go. Again.
(Dee does it again.)
Ok. This time the game is tied with 2 seconds on the clock.
You are going to run around the pick. Catch the ball and pull
up for the championship winning shot. And it better go in or
else you don’t eat tonight and your ass gets traded. Go.

Dee does as instructed. He hits the shot. Mr. Steward rebounds the shot and passes it back
to him.
4.

MR. STEWARD
That might have been luck. Let’s do it again to make sure. Go.
( Dee runs the drill again and hits the shot)
Nice. Now you’re looking like an NBA all star.

Drill 2. Posting him up. Mr. Steward using a boxer’s punching pad to forcibly push Dee
away as he uses his power to dribble closer and closer to the rim for the sweet 5 footer
shot or the nasty dunk.

MR. STEWARD
Come on. Move me forward out the way. Step back and shoot.

They do it again. Dee is working harder.

MR. STEWARD
Come on. Let them feel your power. They don’t want none
of this. Push him. Then slip under him for the easy dunk. Nice.
Let’s go.

Dee follows his dad’s instructions.

Drill 3. Dee is strengthening his vertical with two feet jumping drills from the ground
onto huge tire.
MR. STEWARD
Let’s go.
(Dee jumps on top of the tire. Then jumps down.)
Eighteen. Let’s go.
(Dee jumps on top of the tire. Then jumps down.)
Nineteen. Let’s go.
(Dee jumps on top of the tire. Then jumps down.)
Twenty. And in the words of TBE.E.E. 50 -0 undefeated
and undisputed boxing champ. “All work is what?”

DEE
(jumping higher)
Easy damn work.

Drill 4. Dee is shooting free throws. He shoots. His dad gets the rebound and passes it
back to him to shoot again.

MR. STEWARD
Let’s go. Seven out seven.
(rebounding the shot and passing it back to him)
Let’s go. Eight out of eight.
5.

MR. STEWARD (Cont’d)

(rebounding the shot and passing it back to him)
Let’s go. Nine out of Nine.
(rebounding the shot and passing it back to him)

DEE
What’s the score? How much time left on the clock?

MR. STEWARD
Let’s go. Two seconds left. The score is tied and this one is for
the championship. Finals MVP. And To be the G.O.AT. Bzzz.
(rebounding the shot and passing it back to him)
The shot at the buzzer is good. And David ‘Dee Steward has
just won his seventh NBA championship and seventh Finals MVP.
He has just passed Michael Jordan and is the new GOAT of GOATS.
And the crowd goes crazy wild. Shouting Dee. Dee. Dee!
(falling on ground Jordan like crying and hugging
the trophy when he won the championship)
And this one is for my father. I owe all of my successes to him.

DEE
(falling out with laughter)
Dude you got jokes. Very sad jokes.

MR. STEWARD
Jokes? I’m serious. When you win, I want you to do one of
them Jordan ‘this one if for my father’ moves. All this hard
work I be doing. You think it for free? I want my props.

DEE
That’s all you want pops? That’s small stuff. You know you
been my A1 ride or die from day 1. None of this would be
possible without you and Mom. So I promise to do my best to
make you guys proud of me.

MR. STEWARD
(hugging him as he gets teary eyed and emotional)
Hey hey relax. Nothing has changed from primary school
buddy. Winning is nice. But Win. Lose or Draw. All your
daddy wants from you is your what?

DEE
My 100% A- game best.
6.

MR. STEWARD
And once you do that. Win. Lose. Or draw. We what?

DEE
Golden.

MR. STEWARD
We what?

DEE
Golden.

MR. STEWARD
And you’re my what?

DEE
MVP.

MR. STEWARD
Damn right. I love you mannnn.
(kissing his forehead. noticing him feeling better)
Good workout. Now let’s get breakfast.

3. INT. KITCHEN - DAY

The Steward family is enjoying a delicious looking pancake breakfast.

CLOSE ON TV.

ROLAND MARTIN.
(on tv)
The problem in this country is white police brutality against
black people. This is nothing new. But it must stop now. This
killing of James Harris another unarmed black man is just
another example of the police brutality of white cops against
black people that is running rampant across this nation.
Ironically white people do not get this same treatment. We
saw the video of Jeff Whitman a young while male armed
with two glock 9 mm walk into a Texas church and murder 6
black people and injure 8 persons. And what did the white police
officers do? Firstly they took him alive. Secondly, They took
him to Wendy’s for something to eat before they took him to
the station for booking. What the? So why is it that black people
do not get the same treatment from white cops that white people
7.

ROLAND MARTIN (Cont’d)

get? Why? My God, they shot an unarmed man 7 times. 7
times in front of his little children. Damn. Where was the
body cam footage? Why did they have them turned off?
If on duty police officers turn off their body cams they should
be instantly fired. We need stronger federal legislation against
killer racist cops. The cops should be charged under hate crimes.
I have spoken to judges who told me that they believed the cops
were lying. If not for the cell phone footage in the case this case
would get swept under the rug with the rest of the case. We saw
what happen with the George Floyd case. We saw the riots. I am
calling on the President of the United States Of America to do
his damn J.O.B. But sadly, he is silent. Sadly, he seems to sup-
port this white supremacy racism. Sadly after enslaving us for
400 years. Sadly, after Black people have fought bled and died
for this country just like white folks. This is Not right America.

DEE
(responding to tv)
This some bullship.

MRS. STEWARD
Watch your mouth in this house young man.

DEE
What did I say? Bullship is not a curse.

PEYTON
Ooh, but I know what you meant.

Mr. Steward eats his pancake with a pensive look on his face as he watches the tv and
absorbs the impact of the deadly racial reality of being a black man in America.

ROLAND MARTIN
Black people have bled for this country more than any other
race in this country. But in 2020 we still can not get the
respect we deserve. In 2020 we still cannot get the justice we
deserve. The bottom line is that this wanton and deliberate
slaughtering and murdering of innocent black people must
absolutely stop. Black Lives Matter Gad Dammit. And By
whatever means necessary. Black people must unite. We must
get out there and vote. We must put persons in the legislature
that will fight for our Black rights. And fight for our Black lives.
8.

MR. STEWARD
We’ve had this conversation before. If they pull you over.
put your hands on the steering wheel, don’t make any sudden
moves and be respectful. Yes sir. No sir. And comply with
their instructions. At the end of the day, the objective is to
come home safely and alive. If there are constitutional violations
we will let the lawyers deal with it and make them pay. But at
the end of the day, a bully truly only respects one thing to Make
him Stop. And crying and begging them to have mercy on you
as they violate your human rights and take your life definitely
ain’t one them. Facts.

4. EXT. HOUSE – DAY

Mr. Steward is in his truck. He is HONKING his horn.

MR. STEWARD
(shouting into house)
Dee. Let’s roll bro.

5. INT. LIVING ROOM – DAY

DEE
(dashes through the living and shouting)
Coming dad. Later Mom. Bye Peyton.

As he exits the door. on the wall, we see PHOTOS of Mr. Steward dressed in military
uniform. We see PHOTOS of him: 1. Shooting a snipers rifle. 2. Receiving the
Congressional Medal of Honor from the President. 3. Receiving the Silver Star Medal Of
Honor. We also see PHOTOS of him dressed in a Karate Gi with a black belt around his
waist striking a deadly karate pose. On the wall we see:

1. Mrs. Steward Dressed in a Nurses uniform receiving an award.

2. Peyton receiving multiple Principal’s List Honor Roll Student Awards.
3. Dee Basketball championship pictures.
4. Dee in a Baseball uniform winning Tee Ball Championship.

Looking at the photos it is obvious that greatness runs in this family. Through the
window we see Dee jump in the truck and they pull off.

6. INT. TRUCK – DAY

They drive silently through their Inner City rough and tough and gritty looking
neighborhood.
9.

7. EXT. JUNKANOO PARK – DAY

The huge BANNER hanging from the lamp poles read, “SUMMER MADNESS
INDEPENDENCE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT JAM – 4-6TH JULY, 2020”

10 AM in the morning and the ballers are already hooping it up. On one side of the
basketball court the older young men are playing. And on the other side of the court,
Wilfred is playing two on two with some other kids his age.

He passes the ball to EARLINE the only female on the court. This nine year old
Mambacita is crossing up her defender, who is putting some good defense on her. We
see Wilfred wide open waving her to pass him the ball.

WILFRED
Pass the ball. Pass the ball.

Deliberately ignoring him. She gives her defender a head fake and step back for a fade
away 15 footer. Swoosh. All nets.

WILFRED
(to Earline)
Look, I’m the team captain. How many times do I need to tell
you that you need to stop being a ball hog? When I tell you to
pass the ball you need pass the ball. Do you understand?

EARLINE
Pass what ball? I was open. I took the shot. It went in. We won.
So what’s your problem?

WILFRED
Since you don’t like to listen, I ain’t picking you no more.

EARLINE
Pick who? You forget I’m the one who pick you ay?

About to give her a piece of his mind, Wilfred sees Dee’s dad truck.

WILFRED
(mad dashing to the truck)
Dee. Dee.

8. INT – TRUCK – DAY

10.

Mr. Steward sees Wilfred followed by EARLINE and the other kids waving down his
truck. He pulls over and stops.

WILFRED, EARLINE & KIDS

(shouting and knocking on his window)
Dee. Dee.

DEE
(rolling his window down and dapping them)
Wsup my lil young kings and queen? Y’all good?

WILFRED
We great. Dee when you go to the NBA are you still going
to invite us to the game on opening night to see you play?

DEE
Did I tell you was going to do it?

WILFRED
Yes.

DEE
Well So said. So Done.
(watching the kids get ecstatically crazy)

WILFRED
We going to an NBA game. Dee for President.
(chanting his name)
Dee. Dee

DEE
And of course I ga fly y’all out. Put y’all up in a nice hotel.
Rent a nice escalade for y’all to pull up to the game in. Have
y’all fresh up in my jersey and some J’s on ya feet. And plus I
ga put one lil $200 in each one of y’all pocket. How that sound?

EARLINE
$200? $200?

WILFRED
(really freaking himself out)
Oh Lord, that sounds awesome. Oh Lord I can’t take no more.
11.

DEE
But of course y’all know all that sweetness is not for free.
There is price to pay if y’all want me to do all that. And what
is the price?

ALL THE KIDS

We have to be good children. Do our best in school. Listen to
our parents. Don’t use drugs, smoke cigarettes or drink rum.
And be our brothers keeper.

DEE
(giving him a $20)
Good stuff. I’m proud of y’all. Lil Will, here buy my Coconut
water from Mr. Ced for when I come on the park later. And y’all
get something for y’all too. Ok?

WILFRED
Ok. I’ll see you later.
(watching them pull off. To the squad)
That’s my big brother. So if y’all want to go to the game.
Y’all better do what I say.
(to a defiant Earline)
So you better pass me the ball when I tell you. Or you Not
coming. And you’re Not gonna get no $200.

9. EXT. BIG D’S CHICKEN SHACK – DAY

There is a nice line of customers at the ‘PLACE ORDER’ window waiting to place their
chicken snack orders. Fine Azz ERIN KELLY is next in line waiting to place her order.

10. INT. BIG D’S CHICKEN SHACK – DAY

We see Dee working hard. He takes five pieces of chicken breast and thigh parts out the
deep fryer. He places them into plates on the counter. He puts an order of fries next to
each piece of chicken. He then grabs the bottle of ketchup in one hand, and the bottle of
hot sauce in the other hand and sprays it on the food.

11. EXT. BIG D’S CHICKEN SHACK - DAY

CASHER ERICA
(giving customer his change)
Next please.
12.

ERIN
Hi. Can I get two Breast Snacks with Ketchup and hot sauce,
And two Conch snacks with ketchup, hot sauce and mayonnaise?

Erin peeps through the window. She sees Dee working hard. He sees her. They smile at
each other.

12. INT. OFFICE - BIG D's CHICKEN SHACK - DAY

Mr. Steward sits at his desk doing some paper work. On his desk we see a 9mm GLOCK
in a holster. On the many tv screens for the surveillance cameras in and around the store.
We see Erin receiving her order. She goes to a nearby Outdoor Table. Unpacks and opens
her food, and begin eating.

13. EXT. BIG D's CHICKEN SHACK - OUTDOOR TABLE AREA - DAY

DEE
Any compliments for the chef madam?

ERIN
(smiling)
Yeh. You can tell him it alright.

DEE
Just alright? Well coming from picky you, I'll tell him it was 5
star excellent. Cause you know what we say, ' Once you had a
taste of the Big D. You will back.'

ERIN
(watching him crack himself up)
I see you still got stale jokes. Just don’t forget you're lil D
and Your daddy is Big D.
(laughing at him)

DEE
Good one. So where you been, haven’t seen you in bit?
You look like you don't even be on social media no more?

ERIN
Yeh. I was wasting too much time on them, so I deactivated my
accounts.

DEE
So congrats.
13.
ERIN
On what?

DEE
On graduating college. Now that you got that big time
engineering degree. You ready to get paid.

ERIN
No. I didn’t get to graduate. It didn't work out.

DEE
Wow. What happened? You had it all planned. Get mechanical
engineering degree. Invent product to solve the world's
pollution and global warming problems. Form a company. Go
IPO and Bam! Become a billionaire and win Nobel peace prize
for your invention to save humanity. It sounded like a good
plan to me. What happen Erin?

ERIN
I know right? I got pregnant and had to drop out in my last year.
DEE
Looking at you, I assume you've had the kid. So just go back.

ERIN
I can't. I lost my scholarship.

DEE
Damn. That's messed up. So if you could go back. Would you
go back and get your degree?

ERIN
Of course. In a heartbeat.

14. INT. MR. STEWARD’S OFFICE – DAY

Very concerned, we see Mr. Steward observing Dee and Erin on the security monitors.

15. EXT. BIG D's CHICKEN SHACK - OUTDOOR TABLE AREA - DAY

DEE
Ok. Tell you what. Since you just need one more year to finish.
I'll give you a scholarship. But it’s not going to be that big time
University where you was going. You can go right here to the
State University. Check out the cost. And you can start in
September. So Said. So Done. No Problem.
14.

ERIN
Yeh. Jokes.

DEE
I'm serious. If you want it, it’s a done deal.

ERIN
So after I did you dirty and cheated on you and broke your
heart. You going to give me a college scholarship?

DEE
Damn. You’re right. On second thought Fuck dat shit. What
the hell was I thinking? Your shit was rachet.
(enjoying the look on her face and laughing)
ERIN
Yes. I know. Sorry about that. I fucked up.

DEE
No. It’s ok. Besides the cheating and lying part you were ok.
We had some good times. And how could I forget my prom
date. Breaking up with you actually turned out to be one
of the best things to happen to me. It allowed me to focus on
school and graduate with honors. It allowed me to focus on
my game and get drafted #1 and sign a big fat million dollar
contract to play with Charlotte Hornets. So a stack or two is
small stuff. Besides, I’d like to think if the situation was
reverse you do the same for me?

ERIN
Me pay scholarship for a cheating ass boyfriend? Hell no. So
what is this gonna cost me? Something always for something.

DEE
(smiling at her being a little flirtatious)
I know right? But I want absolutely nothing. Just try finish
school and not to get pregnant again. Then go save the
world and have a nice life. And we’re golden.

ERIN
Ok. Thanks.
(he nods. and leaves. She’s sad that she lost a good dude)

16. INT. MR. STEWARD’S OFFICE – DAY

15.

Very concerned, Mr. Steward is observing Dee leave the table and going back to work.

17. EXT. JUNKANOO PARK – DAY

We see Dee splitting the double team. He drives hard down the paint. He raises up high
above the rim and gives the defenders a nasty Shaq Diesel No Mercy Facial Dunk.

Wilfred, Earline and his kid squad are cheering and loving it. We see COACH
SCOOCHY, BIG DUDE the hood boss and his crew reacting to the crazy dunk.

WILFRED
That’s my big brother.

CUT TO:

We see Dee playing hard ‘Deefense’. His opponent tries to cross him up, but he stays in
front of him and does not go for the fake. His opponent dribbles the ball through his
legs a couple times. He drives Dee hard forward. He stops suddenly. Steps back and pulls
up the twenty footer. Unfortunately, Dee is all over the ball blocking it way into the
bleachers. Coach Scoochy and Big Dude are impressed with the block.

CUT TO:

From fifteen feet away, Dee is posting up his defender and backing back his guy. He
shakes left, then right and pulls up for the Jordan fade away. Swoosh.

CUT TO:

Dee shows he got the full package as he does the James Harden step back three pointer.

CUT TO:

A player steals a pass. He drives the ball coast to coast for an easy break away dunk. We
see Dee run the ball down like Lebron and pin it to the backboard. Big Dude and his
squad is wowed.

EARLINE
Oooh did you see that? Go Dee. That’s my big brother.

WILFRED
(visible jealous and upset)
No. He’s not. He’s my big brother. How he get your big brother?
16.
EARLINE
What you mean how? The same way he get your big brother.
That’s how.

WILFRED
That’s it. I’m tired of you. I’m breaking up with you.

EARLINE
You can’t break up with me cause I’m breaking up with you
first.

WILFRED
That’s it. I’m gonna tell Dee not to let you come to the opening
game.

Defeated. she pouts over to the end of the bleachers and sit quietly.

18. EXT. MR. CEDRIC’S STORE – NIGHT

MR. CED
As black people we need to stay woke. You young guys are
the future. You can’t take no chances. The system trying to
take y’all out. So you have to wise.

DEE is reading a FLYER, it reads, ‘SUMMER MADNESS INDEPENDENCE

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT JAM 4-6TH JULY, 2020’ . He pays Mr. Ced
for a couple of COCONUT WATERS for himself, Wilfred, Earline and the other kids.

MR. CED
(cashing up Dee’s stuff and dropping knowledge)
As black people we need to stay woke. You young guys are
the future. After 400 years of slavery, racism is still alive and
thriving in America. That’s facts. The system is designed for
black people to keep black people down by making us think
that we are inferior. So that we can stay disorganized and fight
amongst ourselves trying to impress the massas we think are
superior. We are the silly billies that perpetuate the slavery 2.0
infinity matrix with the white Jesus indoctrination, even though
the Bible clearly and pellucidly describes him as a black man
But you have black pastors perpetrating this massive fraud. In
the words of late great Bob Marley, “Tell The Children The Truth.”

DEE
Hey lil Will, y’all wants some wings?
17.

WILFRED
Yes please.
(to the kids and especially Earline)
See that. He’s my big brother.

DEE
Add four orders of wings too please.

MR. CED
(continuing)
In order for black lives to matter. We have to make it matter
to us in how we become united and look out for and take care
of each other. Nobody is going to do it for us. We have to do
it for us. Ya understand? Now you got yourself a lil opportunity
to play in the NBA and make some money. So you gatta be
smart. You can’t be stupid. Ya hear me?

DEE
Yes sir.
MR. CED
You have to be smart with your money. You gotta be cheap.
You gotta take a page out of Lebron’s book and give back
to your community. Use your power for good and help some
of these kids around here. Help give them a chance not to end
up dead in these streets or dead in jail. If Black Lives Matter.
You We Us have to make it matter. Do you understand?

DEE
(grabbing his stuff and leaving)
Yes sir. Mr. Ced. I’ll do my best.
(to guys)
Let’s roll guys.
(they exit store eating and drinking)

19. EXT. MR. CEDRIC’S STORE - NIGHT

DEE
(dapping up the guys)
All right guys, let me see y’all get home safe.

Earline dashes to a house across the street. She waves that she is safe. Wilfred runs up the
stairs to some apartments above Mr. Ced’s shop. He RINGS the DOORBELL. MS.
MOSS opens the door. She looks down stairs at Dee.
18.

DEE
Goodnight Ms. Moss.

MS. MOSS
Goodnight Dee.

WILFRED
(giving him the thumbs up sign)
Goodnight big brother.

DEE
(giving him thumbs up sign back)
Goodnight lil brother.

Wilfred watches Dee go to his Explorer Jeep. Get in and pull off. Stop at the RED
STREET LIGHT. Wait for the light to turn GREEN, then drive until he is out of sight.

20. EXT. OFFICE COMPLEX – DAY

The sign says, LAW OFFICES OF W.H. COCKRAN

21. INT. OFFICE – DAY

Mr. & Mr. Steward and Dee are reading some contracts.

W.H. COCKRAN
The Academic Foundation is called the “Dee Steward Mom &
Dad Scholarship Foundation”. It will be initially funded with
$1 million dollars to be distributed over a ten year period. And
of course you can add more to it at anytime if you wish. You
guys are the trustees. Mr. Steward you sign here. Mrs. Steward
you there. And you there.

MRS. STEWARD
(signing and hugging Dee)
Ooh honey, I’m so excited. Giving back to our community is
such a great thing. This will be such a blessing to kids who
can’t afford to go to college. I’m proud of you.

MR. STEWARD
(dapping Dee)
Yes. Ma’ man. This is definitely some good stuff. The Mom
& Dad Scholarship Foundation. I like the sound of that name.
19.
DEE
I know right? But you guys are my heroes man. And I wanted
to do something to forever honor y’all. I love y’all man.

22. EXT. MR. CEDRIC’S STORE - NIGHT

23. INT. MR. CEDRIC’S STORE – NIGHT

BIG DUDE
(showing him a Summer Madness Tournament poster)
Check out how crazy this is man. And you’re our star player.
This year The Destroyers will destroy every team. So what
you saying bro? We need you. We can’t let them punks come
all the way from South Side and win again, and disrespect us.
Fuck dat!

DEE
Looks good bro, unfortunately I’d like to. But I can’t. I just
signed my contract and my agent said not to over extend myself
or push it or take a chance doing anything that may get me
injured before season.
COACH SCOOCHY
Wow. C’mon bro we need you to beat the 5 Horse Men Team.
The community needs you. Look at the poster. Look how great
you look. We got the word out that you’re playing with us. Just
look how great this uniform looks bro. Even got your number.

DEE
I’m sorry bro. You saw what happened to Zion. That one injury
now his whole career is in jeopardy from playing in that tournament.

COACH SCOOCHY

and y’all can’t come to the opening game. It’s no problem?

Oh my Gawd. If you love basketball, let me hear your shout,
“’I’m A Big Ballerrrrr!”

CROWD
(shouting)
I’m a big ballerrrrrrr.

D.J. JIMBO
Alright lets get this elimination round started. First up is the
defending champions the Five HorseMen vs The Rattlers.

We see the two teams at half court. The referee jumps the ball. Mylez ‘The Beast’
Johnson #3 gorillas the ball away from his competitor. He bully drives the ball to the
rim for an easy nasty slam dunk bucket. He does his victory dunk shake dance for the
crowd and runs up court on defense.

The TIME is :39 Seconds On The GAME CLOCK. The SCORE is Rattlers 61. Five
HorseMen 63. The Rattlers Star Player RICK FRANCIS pushes the ball quickly up
court. He passes it to his teammate. He runs around a screen and gets open at the corner
three point line. His teammate quickly passes the ball to another teammate who passes
him the ball at the three point line. Francis pulls up and drains the three. The crowd goes
crazy. The Five HorseMen’s Coach calls a Time Out.

The TIME is :11 Seconds On The GAME CLOCK. The SCORE is Rattlers 64. Five
HorseMen 63. The Five Horsemen is trying to inbound the ball. The Rattlers is playing
tough trapping defense to prevent the ball from inbounding. Mylez is running around
screens. He is working hard to get free.

Finally, he gets free. The pass is thrown to him. It is almost intercepted. It is 9 seconds on
the clock. He has his opponent faced up at the top of the key. His team spreads the floor
so he can take his man one on one. He now has him posted up. He is backing him back
like Jordan. The GAME CLOCK is now at 4 seconds. Giving his opponent the shoulder
fake. He jumps up high into a fifteen footer fader away and releases an all net two pointer
for the win. The Crowd goes crazy.

The GAME CLOCK buzzer goes off. Game over. Rattlers 64. The Five HorseMen 65.
Mylez’s teammates bumrush the floor to cheer him for hitting the game winning shot.
23.

MYLEZ
I’m the best. They robbed me in the draft. I should have gone
#1. I’m the best. Tell Dee if he thinks he is #1 to bring his ass
out here and get some of this smoke. We don’t have to wait
until we reach the NBA. We can settle this out here. Right now.
Y’all tell him. He can run. But his bitch ass can’t hide. He have
to come see me. I’m on his court destroying bitches. And I’m
taking this trophy. Me. Tell him if he is a man to come stop me.
Tell him to come get some of this.

No overtime. Let’s send these losers home now. Show them
who the real first draft pick is.

DEE
Let’s go buddy. We need these two to win. This is easy work.
You can do it.

The Destroyers player is at the free throw line to shoot two. Mylez is on the rebound line

he makes this shot. Everybody Dee up.

The Destroyers player shoots the Free Throw. It’s another Brick. The shot is off bad. It
hits the rim and bounces up high in the air. Suddenly Dee, AirJordan like, out of nowhere
flies through the paint in the air. Grabs the ball as it rebounds up off the rim and dunks in
Mylez’s face. Bam! Gave over. The Destroyers win 86 to 85.

The Park erupts. Wilfred and Earline go crazy. The Destroyers team rushes the court to
hug Dee. We see the agony of defeat on Mylez’s humiliated face as he cusses his team.
He sits on his bench. Puts his towel over his head and probably cries.

WILFRED
That’s my big brother. That’s my big brother.

D.J. JIMBO

the Five HorseMen. DeeZilla led the way with a huge forty- two

THE CROWD
Destroyers. Destroyers. Destroyers.
We are the champions. We are the champions.

The Destroyers hold up their winning trophy to the CHANTING crowd, as persons take
cell phone pictures of them. Dee winks at Wilfred and Earline and gives them a thumbs
up. He calls them over to hold the trophy. They love that. They take a couple photos.

69. EXT. OFFICE DOOR – DAY

The SIGN on door reads: PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE- ROBERT R BACON

70. INT. OFFICE – DAY

ROBERT R. BACON
And you would be willing to testify to what you saw in court?

WILFRED
Yes Sir. Dee was my big brother. And those white police killed
him for nothing. And that’s not right. The police are suppose
to protect the people not kill the people.

ROBERT R. BACON
You are absolutely right son. You are a brave young man Wilfred.
And mom, this is ok with you?

MS. MOSS
It has to be. I have a young black son. I don’t want the same
thing to happen to him. We have to speak out and put an end
to these racist killing of innocent black people crap. Yesterday
it was Floyd, Breonna and Dee. Tomorrow it can be my son or
your daughter. And it don’t matter if you are rich or poor. It
don’t matter if you Live in the ghetto or a luxury gate community.
Once you black. You are a target. We are supposed to be one
country. Where everybody is supposed to be equal regardless
of color. All black people and everybody white or green that
stands against racism must all unite and lobby the government
to do the right thing to end this. End this before a civil war
breaks out in this country. We have to get Justice for Dee and
everybody else. So hell yes. It is very ok with me.
(Mr. Steward sees a very proud Wilfred look at his mom)
49.

71. EXT. THE BLOCKS – STREET

The Police have three thug looking young black men positioned against their car and
searching them.

DETECTIVE REDNICK
(searching Tino)
So you are the Spike Lee guy that video taped the park shooting
that has good cops lives and jobs in jeopardy?

TINO
Is that what this harassment is all about? Yeh I video taped it.
Yeh I saw them murder Dee. Yes I already game the police
a statement. Yes I’m coming to court to testify when they get
charged. Yes I want to see them rot in jail for murdering Dee.
And when I leave here I’m going to the station to file a
complaint on y’all for harassing a witness. Then I’m going to
get my lawyer to sue the city. And cause y’all to lose y’all jobs.
What happen? Y’all wanna kill me too? I don’t care. But see
them people over there video taping. Smile. Y’all racist cops
are gonna be social media celebrities again in a minute.

DETECTIVE REDNICK
Nobody is going to kill you Mr. Johnson. The Police does not
kill innocent people. We are here to protect and serve you. We
understand that from our investigations that Mr. Steward was
was an arms dealer in the neighborhood?

TINO
Man that nigga wasn’t no gun dealer. He signed to play in the
NBA for millions of dollars. He was legit and y’all murder him
for nothing. End of story. Period. You can’t spin this one.

Officer Joe sees the guy recording. He sends the officer to go retrieve the footage. The
guy sees the police officer and breaks off running which attracts even more eyes and cell
phone hood cinematographers.

DETECTIVE REDNICK
Ok. You men are free to go. Have a nice day and drive safely.

Tino and his boys take their pocket stuff from the car hood, and put their wallets etc back
in their pockets. They watch the cops drive off.
TINO
Racist fucking cop killing bitches.

72. EXT. MR. CEDRIC’S STORE – DAY

We see two white plain clothes police detectives, REDNICK and HANKS, roll up in an
unmarked police car. They exit the vehicle. They scope out the stores surveillance
cameras attached to the roof pointing to where Dee was murdered. They enter store.

73. INT. MR. CEDRIC’S STORE – DAY

Knowing cops when they smell them, the black people start to fade out the store.

DETECTIVE REDNICK
(at counter to Mr. Cedric)
You the manager?

MR. CED
Yes. Why? What’s the problem officers?

DETECTIVE REDNICK
No problem sir. We have a warrant for the video from your
cameras for the night of 6th July.

MR. CED
Oh you mean the night you racist cops murdered Dee?
Where is the warrant?
(detective throws it on counter. Mr. Ced checks it out)
This way.

They follow him to the stores office. They stand at the door. Mr. Ced goes in. He finds
that date and begins downloading it onto a jump drive for them.

DETECTIVE HANKS
We understand from our informants that the deceased was
involved in narcotics and gun running in this neighborhood,
which was probably the reason he was trying to evade lawful
custody. What do you know about that?

MR. CED
Stop it. Just stop it. You racist white cops killed an unarmed
black man again. Dee was a good kid. A college graduate. A
basketball star already signed to play in the NBA. And your
colleagues murdered him. That’s it. So no matter how you try
to spin this and cover it up. We will get Justice for Dee. And
those racist murdering cops are going down.
(reluctantly giving Rednick jump drive)
51.

Putting his card and couple bucks on counter for a couple cokes and chips.

DETECTIVE REDNICK
Well if you can think of any information as to where the
decease got his drugs and guns from. We would appreciate
a call. There’s a confidential cash reward for good tips.
(seeing his disgust)
We understand that he spent a lot of time in this store. It
would be a shame to find out that this store was a front for
his operation. Senior citizen like you in prison wouldn’t
last a day. And you may be too old to be somebody’s
sidechick.

MR. CED
Get the hell out of my store.
(they leave)
And don’t worry, if you misplace the evidence his lawyer has
plenty copies.
(they exit store)
Gaddamn racist kaksuckers. Our lives matter too.

DETECTIVE REDNICK
Indeed. And that is how justice is should be.
(exits office)

82. INT. BACK ROOM – NIGHT

Detective Rednick is sitting at a table having a drink. Hood gangster looking RUSTY
WILLIAMS is reading a sheet of paper. Detective Hanks stands guard at the door.
DETECTIVE REDNICK
Do you understand it? Can you handle it?

RUSTY WILLIAMS
And if I do this, all my cases will get dropped?

DETECTIVE REDNICK
Well not all. You have more cases than a fucking brewery
bro. So we have to make it look good. But there will be no
jail time. Just some probation. Probably a lot of probation.

RUSTY WILLIAMS
No jail. Of course I can do it. Where do I sign?

DETECTIVE REDNICK
Now go home and memorize it. Cause if you fuck this up
your black life ain’t gonna matter. You understand?

RUSTY WILLIAMS
I understand. I gat this bro. Relax. Now you also mentioned
something about some deniro. Some paper?

DETECTIVE REDNICK
(throws him $2000 cash)
Now beat it.

83. EXT. COURT HOUSE -DAY

We see a huge crowd of ‘Black Live Matter/Justice For Dee’ Supporters with Placards
etc. The Media from all the major and local networks are out in full force. The Police is
also out in full force. They are not taking any chances.

84. INT. COURT ROOM #2 –DAY

54.

PROSECUTOR BACON
(speaking to mostly white jury)
Members of the jury. This case is a very simple and straight
forward case. And we have the live video to prove it. It is
my intention to prove to you that Officers Ferman and Keller
on 6th July did willfully kill and murder an innocent young
man that was drafted to the NBA and was going to do our city
proud. It is also my intent to prove to you that it falls within
the ‘Hate Crime Act’ because their motives were racial because
the deceased Mr. David ‘Dee’ Steward Jr was a black man.
And that if he was an unarmed white young man. He would

Nervous looking officers Ferman and Keller sit at a desk with their High Powered Black
Harvey Specter Johnny Cockran looking Defense Attorney, GIBSON JONES.

PROSECUTOR BACON (Cont’d)

still be a live today. And that they would not have shot and
killed him for nothing. The police are supposed to protect and
serve its citizens. Atleast that is what it say on their motto, on
their website, on their cars. Therefore, whenever we find out
we have some bad, racist and murderous ones mixed up with
the good bunch who commit heinous crime. It is your job and
duty to convict them and send them to prison forever. If not,
citizens will lose confidence and trust in the police force. And
that must never ever happen because of the bad, racist and
murderous few. Thank you.

GIBSON JONES
(standing up and presenting to jury)
Ladies and gentlemen. This is a simple case of self defense.
That is it. It is not a case of racist white cops killing an unarmed
black man because ‘Black Lives Do Not Matter’ It not a case
of a an innocent young man drafted to the NBA shot and killed
for nothing. It is definitely not a case of a Hate Crime.

The Officers look more relaxed and confident. Mr. and Mrs. Steward look concerned.

GIBSON JONES (Cont’d)

No. It is most definitely not. We are going to prove that David
‘Dee’ Steward on the night of 6th July was armed. We are going
to prove that Officers Ferman and Keller, who have sworn an
oath to protect and serve you were in fear of their lives, when
they shot and killed the deceased. Thus the shooting was lawful
and they are innocent of the charges they are here for today.
55.

CUT TO:

DR. LEE
(on witness stand being questioned by prosecutor)
My name is Dr. Daniel Lee. I have been a corona for eleven
years.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Please tell the court what was the cause of death for Mr. Steward?

DR. LEE
(looking at his notes)
David ‘Dee’ Steward. Twenty-one year old male. Cause of
death seven gunshots to torso resulting in massive hemorr-
haging and death.

PROSECUTOR BACON
No further questions your honor.

JUDGE CLARKE
(giving him permission to cross examine)
Mr. Gibson Jones.

GIBSON JONES
No Questions for the witness your honor.

CUT TO:

PROSECUTOR BACON
Officer Gustav please tell the jury again. How many bullets
penetrated the body of Mr. Steward and killed him.

OFFICER GUSTAV
He was fatally shot seven times.
PROSECUTOR BASTIAN
Seven times. Why would Officers Ferman and Killer shoot an
unarmed man seven time, thus killing him?

GIBSON JONES
Objection your Honor. He is leading the witness to improperly
speculate. Also it has yet to be established that the deceased was
unarmed and the officer not in fear of their lives when they fired
their weapons.
56.

JUDGE CLARKE
Objection sustained.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Officer Gustav, please tell us what was the ballistic report on the
bullets and from whose weapons did they come?

OFFICER GUSTAV
(in witness box looking at notes)
All seven shots were in the upper torso. They were all nine
millimeter bullets. Five were from Officer Ferman’s weapon
and two were from Officer Keller’s weapon.

PROSECUTOR BACON
So you are telling the court that Officer Ferman who is sitting
right over there shot Mr. Steward five times? And that Officer
Keller who is sitting next to him shot him two times in the torso?

CLOSE ON: The Painful Reaction of Mr. and Mrs. Steward and Wilfred.

OFFICER GUSTAV
Yes sir.

PROSECUTOR BACON
No further questions your Honor.

JUDGE CLARKE
(to a reluctant Gibson Jones)
No questions your Honor.

OFFICER EDMONDS
(in witness box)
Yes sir, based on my examination of the video footage of
the shooting it was the actual raw footage with no editing or
enhancements done to it.

PROSECUTOR BACON
(to the jury)
So that horrendous evil footage of Officers Ferman and Keller
that you saw folks it is real? It is not some Hollywood movie
directed by Denzel Washington or Celi Moss? It’s real. It is a
nice decent young man’s life wrongfully taken away by those
officers who had no reasonable cause to shoot an unarmed man,
who could have been your son or nephew ladies and gentlemen.
57.

GIBSON JONES
Objection your Honor. The prosecutor has yet to corroborate
and prove the decease was unarmed and therefore not a threat
to the lives of Officers Ferman and Keller.
PROSECUTOR BACON
Your Honor, honorable members of the jury, the proof is in
your hands. Just look at your ipads. Mr. Steward has his hands
in the air. Do you see a gun in his hand? Does he look like a
threat to you with his hands high in the air? Well if he does
not look like a threat to you, how does he look like a threat to
trained armed officers? How?
(seeing jurors agree with him. The officers hang their heads)
No further questions your Honor.
(Gibson Jones shakes his head saying no to cross examination)

CUT TO:

85. INT. COURT ROOM #2 - DAY 2

GIBSON JAMES
Mr. Steward. Please tell us did you have any knowledge of
any reports your son selling drugs at his university?

MR. STEWARD
(calmly)
My son was not a drug dealer.

GIBSON JAMES
Mr. Steward please answer the question. I did not ask you if
you son was a drug dealer sir. My question to you is did you
have any knowledge of any reports of your son selling drugs
at his university? Yes or no.

MR. STEWARD
(very calmly)
My son was not involved in any drug dealing at his school or
anywhere.

GIBSON JONES
Your honor can you please direct the witness to answer my
very simple question?

PROSECUTOR BACON
Objection your honor. What is the relevance?
58.

GIBSON JONES
Your honor. The relevancis simple. In Officer Ferman's
statement he claimed that drugs and guns were in young
Mr. Steward's vehicle at the time of the incident. He stated
that the evidence was removed from the vehicle when they
had to run for their lives to avoid killing even more people.
Also, in his statement, he stated he got reports of young Mr.
Steward's alleged drug dealing at his university. But he was
arrested and suspended from the force before he could complete
his investigations. That is the relevance your honor.

JUDGE CLARKE
I'll allow.

GIBSON JONES
Please answer the question. Do you have any knowledge of
any reports of your son dealing drugs at his university?

MR. STEWARD
No. I have no knowledge of any reports of my son dealing any
drugs at his university.

GIBSON JONES
So you are saying that on the night of 6th July when officers
Ferman and Keller searched his vehicle that if drugs and guns
were in his vehicle that you would also have no knowledge of
that?
PROSECUTOR BACON
(instantly and standing)
Objection your honor!
CUT TO:

GIBSON JONES
Mrs. Steward. Please tell us did you have any knowledge of
any reports your son selling drugs at his university?

MRS. STEWARD
Say what? Listen you need to stop talking fool in this court and
accusing my good son of being a damn drug dealer. And trying
to make him look like a criminal to justify those two racist white
cops shooting him seven damn times for nothing.
(losing it)
You need to stop it. You hear me?
59.

GIBSON JONES
Mr. Prosecutor. Please control your witness.

MRS. STEWARD
Control me? He need to control you talking fool trying to allow
these Racist cops to get away with murder. Black lives matter.
you hear me? Uncle Toms like you are a disgrace to black people.

GIBSON JONES
Your Honor please. I’m trying to do my job.

JUDGE CLARKE
Mrs. Steward. I understand your frustrations. But if you cannot
enhance your calm and control yourself. I will have to have you
removed from the court. This is how our system of justice works.
The defense attorney must be allowed to cross examine you. So
if you are truly Interested in getting justice for your son. Please
answer the questions and give the system and process a chance
to work.
(She reluctantly nods ok)

GIBSON JONES
Mrs. Steward. Please tell us did you have any knowledge of any
reports your son selling drugs at his university?

MRS. STEWARD
(knowing his strategy and next question)
No.

ĢIBSON JONES
So you are saying that on the night of 6th July when officers
Ferman and Keller searched his vehicle that if drugs and guns
were in his vehicle that you would also have no knowledge of
that?
(seeing her trying hard not to. But losing it.)

MRS. STEWARD
(standing up and banging her hands on desk ready to fight)
Listen how many times am I going to tell you to stop talking
Fuck in this court room. My son is not no damn drugs or gun
dealer. And I don’t appreciate sellout uncle Toms like you
slandering his name to justify his murder by these racist white
cops.
60.

JUDGE CLARKE
Bailiff please escort Mrs. Steward from The courtroom.

We see the quiet and calculating reaction of Mr. Steward as he observes the smirk on
Gibson Jones's face that his strategy to win is working via having Mrs. Steward thrown
out of court. We also see a look of concern on Wilfred's face.

MRS. STEWARD
(being escorted out and shouting)
Justice For Dee. Black Lives Matter. Just For Dee. Justice For
Breonna. Justice For George Floyd. Justice for Emmit.

Mr. Steward nonchalantly gets up. Locks an unthreatening eye contact with the two
officers. And quietly leaves the court behind his wife.

86. EXT. STEWARD'S HOUSE - NIGHT INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT

MRS. STEWARD
(in bed)
It’s just not right. They kill us like dogs in the street. Yet, we
have made a significant contribution and sacrifices to the
building of this country from slavery to you in the military and
fighting bravely in wars for it. Even earning a silver star and
congressional medal of honor for saving many white lives. And
they spit in our faces and reward us by murdering our son. They
convene a kangaroo court to ensure that we don’t get no justice
for Dee. That ain’t right honey. It ain’t right.

MR. STEWARD
I know baby. I know. Well the ball is in their court literally.
So let’s see how it plays out.

87. EXT. COURT HOUSE - DAY #3

88. INT. COURTROOM #2 - DAY

WILFRED
(on witness stand)
Well Dee had just finished winning the tournament. And after
we went over by Mr. Ced’s store celebrating. Dee bought me
and Earline a coconut water. Coconut water was his favorite
drink. He loved some coconut water. He got some drink for
the coach and his team mates. Then he said he had to go home.
Then I told him I was sorry for telling him earlier that I didn’t
61.

WILFRED (Cont’d)
want him to be my big brother no more. He said it was ok.
And to prove we were still cool. He gave me one of his trophies
he won. After that, we left the store.
(crying)
He told us to go home like he normally would. I ran upstairs
above Mr. Ced’s store where I live. And Earline ran up the
street to the house where she lives. After he made sure we
got home safely. Like he normally does. He went to his car.
He gave me the thumbs up sign. And I gave it back to him. I
watched him drive off. He stopped at the red light, like he
would sometimes. THEN SUDDENLY from out of nowhere
two police cars rushed in front of him. And then the white cops
came out with their guns drawn and ready for war. I couldn’t
hear what they were saying. But Dee came out of his car with
his hands in the air. And those two cops just started blasting him.
It felt almost like I was watching a video game. But I knew it
was real. And that’s when I ran to him. But it was too late. Sir
those two officers murdered my big brother. He wasn’t doing
anything wrong. And they killed him for nothing. And I will
never ever see him again. And that’s not right. Black people
are not dogs. We’re human beings too.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Thank you. You are a brave young man. I know it was tough to
to relive that night. And I am sorry for the loss of your big
brother. No further questions your Honor.

GIBSON JONES
Mr. Moss. You said that you saw Officers Ferman and Keller
shoot Mr. Steward?

WILFRED
Yes sir.

GIBSON JONES
Can you please tell the court why they shot him?

WILFRED
Pardon me?

GIBSON JONES
You said that you witnessed the police officers shooting Mr.
Steward. Correct? My question is did you see why they shot him?
62.
WILFRED
(thinking hard)
Yes sir. They shot him because they were and are white racist
cops who hate black people.

GIBSON JONES
Really? Have you ever met officers Ferman or Keller before?

WILFRED
No sir.

GIBSON JONES
Well if you never met them before what proof do you have
that they are racist?

WILFRED
Proof? Um my proof sir is the video and the fact that my big
brother Dee is dead. He had his hands up and they just killed
him for nothing. Do you want more proof than that?

GIBSON JONES
From where you witnessed the shooting. Were you able to see
what Mr. Steward had in his waist at the time he exited the car
with his hands up as you testified?

WILFRED
No sir.

GIBSON JONES
So you are saying that if he had a weapon, a gun in his waist
that from where you were that you would not have been able
to see it? But Officers Ferman and Keller would be able to
see it because they were closer to him?

PROSECUTOR BACON
Objection your Honor.

WILFRED
Dee did not have any gun or drugs on him?

GIBSON JONES
How do you know if you were not there and able to see like
like Officers Ferman and Keller? How? Do you think that
these two good decent Christian officers would just kill
another human being because of the color of his skin?
63.

WILFRED
(a beat. then)
Yes sir. They do it all the time. From slavery to Breonna
Taylor To George Floyd. To a lot of black people.

GIBSON JONES
Maybe others may have done that. But not these two good
decent officer who have taken an oath to protect and serve all
citizens, regardless of color, race, creed, sexuality. But the
bottom line is that you have testified that based on your location,
that you could not confirm or deny that David ‘Dee’ Steward
was armed with a firearm that made these honorable officers
fear for their lives. That resulted in them justifiably discharging
their weapons into Mr. Steward. Thank you sir. No further
questions your Honor.

Wilfred leaves the box feeling like he failed Dee. His Mom gives him a hug. We notice
that Mr. and Mrs. Steward are not present in court.

BAILIFF (o.s.)
Officer Matthew Ferman. Please take the stand.

89. EXT. STEWARD’S HOUSE – BACK YARD – DAY

Mr. Steward is shooting some free throws. Mentally wishing Dee was there. But he is
not. He is dead. Giving up. He grabs a seat in the chair. Mrs. Steward Brings him a drink.

They sit sad and silent. They reflect how they will never hear the bounce of Dee’s
basketball again. And how he or other black people are not able to get real justice in the
system’s kangaroo court. It’s Fucked up!

90. INT. COURT ROOM #2 –DAY #3

GIBSON JONES
Officer Ferman, Are you a racist?

OFFICER FERMAN
No sir.

GIBSON JONES
Officer Ferman, Do you hate Black people?

OFFICER FERMAN
Absolutely not sir.
64.

GIBSON JONES
Do you reject and denounce all forms of racism and bigotry?

OFFICER FERMAN
Absolutely yes sir.

GIBSON JONES
Officer Ferman, please tell the court what happened on the
night of 6th July?

OFFICER FERMAN
We received a call that a black male driving a 2018 blue ford
explorer license plate with first three numbers only 454 had
just robbed and shot a person and that we should be on the
lookout for the vehicle. We saw the suspected vehicle with
the license plate beginning with the 454 numbers at the stop
light on the intersection. We cut in front of the car. Got out
and demanded the driver to get out of the car with his hands
up. The driver exited the vehicle as instructed with his hands
up. That is when I noticed the he had a pistol in his waist. I
instructed him to freeze. He then made a sudden move for his
weapon. Fearing for my life and the lives of my colleagues,
I fired my weapon, hitting and killing him. An initial search
of the vehicle revealed four 9 mm Glocks and about a half kilo
of suspected cocaine. Before we could secure the evidence,
a riot had ensued with angry neighbors throwing rocks and
shooting guns at us. Fearing for our lives. We had to run for
our lives. Unfortunately we were not able to secure the evidence.
By the time SWAT arrived all the evidence in the vehicle had
been removed.

GIBSON JONES
So it is your sworn testimony in this court today that the reason
you fired your weapon, thus killing Mr. Steward in your execution
of your job to uphold the law and protect the citizens of this
community was because Mr. Steward had a weapon in his waist.
that he made a sudden move to get to shoot you and kill you.
Thereby causing you to fear for your life. Thus causing you and
Office Keller to discharge your weapons at him?

OFFICER FERMAN
Yes sir.
65.

GIBSON JONES
And it is also your sworn testimony that at no time was this
shooting racially motivated?

OFFICER FERMAN
No sir. It was Not racially motivated.

GIBSON JONES
On behalf of a grateful community, Officer Ferman. We thank
you for your bravery and all the service you provide to ensure
our safety. No further questions your Honor.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Officer Ferman you testified that you are not a racist? You
testified that this shooting and killing was not racially
motivated, did you not?

OFFICER FERMAN
Yes sir.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Officer Ferman do you know a Hugh Strachan?
(seeing his reluctance to answer)
Officer, c’mon. it is a very simple question. Do you know a
Hugh Strachan?

OFFICER FERMAN
Yes.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Well don’t keep us in suspense. Please tell the court who he
is?

GIBSON JONES
Objection your honor. If this Hugh Strachan is not on the
witness list. I don’t see the relevance.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Oh but it is very relevant your Honor. Officer Ferman testified
that he is not a racist and that he does not hate black people.
Thus the shooting was not racially motivated. I am about to
debunk that lie that is why he is reluctant to answer. Look at
him. Officer Ferman, please tell the court who is Hugh Strachan?
66.
OFFICER FERMAN
He is the man that my wife had an affair with.

PROSECUTOR BACON
And not just had affair with, she got impregnated by him, and
left you for him. Did she not?

OFFICER FERMAN
Yes.

PROSECUTOR BACON
And can you please describe for the court what Mr. Hugh
Strachan looks like?

OFFICER FERMAN
He is about 6feet 4 inches. Two hundred and fifty pounds.

PROSECUTOR BACON
And please tell the court what completion is he?

OFFICER FERMAN
(very reluctant and embarrassed)
He’s. He’s B-Black.

PROSECUTOR BACON
I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you. Can you say it louder please?
OFFICER FERMAN
(too loud)
He’s black.

PROSECUTOR BACON
So you are saying that a big 6 foot 4 inch, two hundred and fifty
pound strapped mandingo big shaq deisel negro was having
an affair with your wife? And he impregnated her with his
negro seed when you were married for years with no children
and impotently could not get the job done. Then on top of that,
she left you to be with him where she could be properly satisfied?
Sir are you going to stand in that witness and lie and say that
that didn’t make you mad as hell? And make you hate a nigger
and want to kill any nigger?

OFFICER FERMAN
No sir.
67.

PROSECUTOR BACON
So it is your sworn testimony in this court today in front of
this honorable judge and jury that you have never sent your
ex wife any voice notes making disparaging, demeaning and
racist insults about Mr. Strachan? Sir be reminded that you
are under oath.

OFFICER FERMAN
Umm. I did say some not so nice things.

PROSECUTER BACON
Of course you did. Officer Ferman. I put it to you that you
hate black people. You hate the fact that a big black 6 foot
4 inch two hundred and fifty pound mandingo gorilla looking
negro was and is putting it hard to your wife. You hated that he
impregnated her when you impotently could not. That made
you mad. Officer Ferman I put it to you that when you saw
6 foot 7 inch, 250 pound Dee Brown step out of his vehicle.
You saw Hugh Strachan. And you snapped and became deadly
enraged. I put it to you Officer Ferman that the gun that you
saw in his waist. The only 9 that you saw in his waist was his
penis. That was the 9 that you envisioned that big black negro
Hugh Strachan was ravishing and punishing your fragile wife
continuously with. And you then fired your gun to stop him.
Cause you could not deal with that. Is that not what happened?

OFFICER FERMAN
No. No. That’s not true. He had a real gun. A chrome 357.

ROSECUTOR BACON
Are you sure it was not a black one? Officer Ferman why was
you body cam turned off?

OFFICER FERMAN
It probably had a malfunction

PROSECUTOR BACON
Of course it did. No further questions your Honor.

91. EXT. COURT – DAY #4 - DAY

From the POV of somebody looking though the windshield of a car, we Gibson Jones
walking up the steps to the court with his clients Ferman and Keller.
62.

The Black Lives Matter Protesters are still out in full force and effect.

92. INT. COURT – DAY #4 - DAY

GIBSON JONES
Mr. Williams, what did you see and do on the night of 6 July?

RUSTY WILLIAMS
(in witness box)
I was on the park. There was a police shooting. Then there
was a riot. The people started throwing rocks and shooting
at the police. Then the police got scared so they hopped in
their cars and rolled out. So I ran over to see what happened.
I saw Dee on the ground dead. I also saw a gun on the ground.
so I picked it up quick before the rest of the crowd came over.
suddenly more police came. So I ran.

GIBSON JONES
Mr. Williams is this the gun that you retrieved from the ground
ground next to the deceased body of Mr. David ‘Dee’ Steward?

RUSTY WILLIAMS
So Mr. Williams, can you please tell the court what made you
come forth? The $2000 reward. The police came on the blocks.
They said that they were investigating the shooting. And that
they were looking for a weapon that was removed from the
crime scene during the riot.

GIBSON JONES.
Thankyou. No further questions. I believe Mr. Williams
testimony confirms that the decease was armed. Thus establishing
reasonable doubt. The defense rests.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Mr. Williams do you have any cases before the court?

RUSTY WILLIAMS
(stuttering)
P-Pardon me?

PROSECUTOR BACON
(mocking his stutter)
P-Pardon me? Don’t start stuttering now. I asked you a question.
Do you have any matters presently before the court?
69.

RUSTY WILLIAMS
(embarrassed)
Yes.

PROSECUTOR BACON
So what? You thought that you could just come up in here and
make up stories and tell lies to the court and get away? And
nobody was going to do a background check on you? Is that
what you thought? You think we stupid?
(no reply)
Please tell the court the cases you have?

GIBSON JONES
Objection your Honor. This type of witness badgering is not
called for.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Your Honor the character of this witness is very relevant.
because if he has matters before the courts. And if Officer
Ferman is his arresting officer. Then suddenly he gets an
amazing plea deal on his cases to have charges dropped
in return for coming here and giving false witness. It is
very very relevant your Honor..

JUDGE CLARKE
I’ll allow.

PROSECUTOR BACON
What are the offenses you are charged with? And please be
honest. I have it right here.
(showing him a piece of paper)

RUSTY WILLIAMS
Drug possession. Robbery. Rape. Attempted murder. To name
a few.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Mr. Williams do you know Officer Ferman?
(seeing his reluctance)
Mr. Williams would you like to add perjury to your list
of charges? I have your charge sheet in front of me sir.

RUSTY WILLIAMS
Yes. He was arrested me a couple times.
70.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Yes he did. Have you made any plea deal with the police in
exchange for you coming here and giving evidence today?

RUSTY WILLIAMS
(having paper waved at him)
Yes.

PROSECUTOR BACON
Mr. Williams surely you can appreciate how suspect you look
no pun intended. You have cases in court with Officer Ferman
who is charged for the murder of Mr. Steward. And you just
mysteriously pop up with the mysterious gun that Officer Ferman
claims Mr. Steward tried to pull on him. That none of the videos
including his or any from the other officers showed any gun or Mr.
Steward making any sudden moves to justify this shooting? Oh
of course you got a great plea deal that resulted in no jail time for
two of your charges that carry ten year penalties. Mr. Williams,
please tell the court why should we believe that you are telling
the truth and that this is not a setup?

RUSTY WILLIAMS
Um.. um.

PROSECUTOR BACON
(looking at jury)
Um um exactly. No further questions your Honor.

JUDGE CLARKE
(banging gavel)
Thirty minutes recess. Then we will hear closing arguments.
And the jury will give us their verdict.

93. EXT. STEWARD’S HOUSE – NIGHT

MRS. STEWARD
(very loud scream and crying)
Oh God Noooooo! Noooooo!

94. INT. KITCHEN – NIGHT

ROLAND MARTIN
(on tv)
Breaking news just in. Police officers Ferman and Keller who
71.

ROLAND MARTIN (Cont’d)

were charged with the 1st degree murder of NBA 1st draft pick
have been found not guilty. I repeat not guilty. In spite of video
footage of an unarmed Dee Steward with his hands raise being
blatantly shot, killed and murdered by these cops. This is a sad
day, a very sad day in this country when a black man can’t even
get justice.

MRS. STEWARD
(Mr. Steward holding her)
This is not right. They murdered our boy for nothing. Now they
are getting away with it. And we can’t even get no damn justice.
I hate this fucking racist ass country.
(we see a tearful Mr. Steward holding her)

95. INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT

In bed. As his wife sleeps. We see tears coming out of a wide awake Mr. Steward’s eyes
for his son. He is enraged.

We See a MONTAGE of TV NEWS REPORTS.

REPORTER #1
Black Lives Matter Protest have started up all over the country
rejecting the acquittal verdict of the two officers in the David
‘Dee’ Steward shooting

REPORTER #2
Yes Mike, there have been reports of looting and burning of
buildings

GIBSON JONES
We are pleased with the outcome of the case. The justice
system has worked. This has been a very hard time for these
two good decent officers. They are just looking forward to
bringing some normalcy back to their lives and putting this
behind them. Hopefully they will be given that opportunity.

CELBRITY #1
Clearly the system has failed. And I fear for my black son
every time he leaves home. I never know if he will return.
If some racist cop will pull him over and murder him like
they did Dee.
72.

CELEBRITY #2
It’s messed up man. If a black man can’t even get justice
in this country when there is video footage showing clearly
that he is unarmed and doing nothing. Can you imagine if
there is no video? Damn.

CITIZEN #1
They break into your house and murder you. Nothing happens.
They put their knee on your neck and murder you. Nothing
happens. They walk in your church and murder you. Nothing
happens. It is time for black people to weapon up. We have a
right to defend our lives by any means necessary as Malcolm X
said.

CITIZEN #2
I’m a black police officer. And after watching the video. I am
disgusted. The attorney General needs to appeal this case asap.
Unfortunately we have some bad racist apples in the police force
and it is time to do something about it before a civil war breaks
out in this country.

NFAC MEMBER
It is the 2nd amendment right of all black people to bear arms
and protect themselves from racist white people. And that’s

OFFICER KELLER

73.

OFFICER REDNICK
(toasting beers)
No problem brothers. We protect our own. We not going let
death of one black muthafucka cost good men to go down.
It’s rough out on them streets. And if negroes get out of pocket.
Shit has to happen to put them back in pocket. But make no
mistake about it, we are the good guys.

OTHER OFFICERS
(cheering with a toast)
The Good Guys. Hoorah!

OFFICER REDNICK
(to Ferman)
Admit it, your punk ass was getting scared up in there for a
minute? Thought you was gonna go to jail and miss and drop
that soap up in that muthafucka huh?
(the guys have a good laff)
Ok boys, let’s lock and load. Party time is over. Time to go
protect and serve.

98. EXT. D’S CHICKEN SHACK – DAY

99. INT. D’S CHICKEN SHACK – OFFICE - NIGHT

In darkness, Mr. Steward in deep deep thought. His laptop shows a picture of Cops Knee
On George Floyd. We also see A Picture of Officers Ferman and Keller with their
Lawyer Gibson Jones. They are Free and smiling in front of the courthouse.

100. INT. FRONT ROOM – DAY

Sitting in darkness, the CLOCK on the Cable Box ticks 12:55 AM. Mr. Steward is deep
in thought. He is painfully deep in his feelings as he looks at the URN with his MVP son,
Dee’s ASHES in it.

101. EXT. OCEAN - DAY

Mr. Steward is in his truck having lunch.

102. INT. TRUCK - DAY

Mr. Steward is on his Cell phone looking at videos of him working Dee out in the
backyard. He tries to take a bite of his lunch. But he is overcome with grief. He sees a
Black father giving his 10 yrs old son a piggyback ride on his back. He sees a police car
speed past with sirens on and two white cops who remind him of Ferman and Keller.
74.

He looks at the video of him hugging Dee the night he graduated college.
He looks at video of him hugging his son the night he was drafted into the NBA.

He takes his Congressional Medal Of Honor and Silver Star from the Glove box. Looks
at them asking himself, “is this the country I is risked my life for?” The answer is No.
He throws them out the window and drives off.

103. EXT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE – NIGHT

104. INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE – NIGHT

Officer Ferman and Keller are both duck taped to a chair in the middle of the dark and
empty abandoned building. The mouths are duck taped.

We see a WHITE MAN walking slowly toward them. He is armed with an AK47 with
100 Round Drum and Silencer on it. The closer he walks to them. The more frightened
they become. He stands point blank in front of them. He stares at them. They don’t know
who he is or what he wants from them. He snatches the duck tape from Ferman’s mouth.

OFFICER FERMAN
Who are you? What do you want? We are officers of the law.

WHITE GUY
Who am I? I’m your Judge. Jury. And Executioner.

He peels off his WHITE FACE MASK to reveal that he is Mr. Steward. Kelly shits
himself.

OFFICER FERMAN
(shit faced)
David Steward’s father.

MR. STEWARD
(very calmly)
Well atleast you remembered his name. So your next question
was what do I want? Simple. I want Justice For Dee.

OFFICER FERMAN
This isn’t the way to get it. This is not the solution.

MR. STEWARD
Of course it is. It’s my solution. The same way it was your
solution when you murdered my son. See contrary what you
may believe. Not all black people are pussies. Some of us don’t
75.

MR. STEWARD (Cont’d)

give a fuck who you is. We will find you and kill your fucking
ass. And I’m one of them. Actually I’m the worse. Cause I
will kill you, your fucking kids, your mother, your father, your
dog, your cat, your plants if you fuck around. Black lives may
not matter to you. And that’s ok. But that one black life that
you took. Matters a lot to me. And that’s where you fucked up.
When you killed the fucking wrong nigga son bruh. So the only
question is after done I light you fuckers up is if I feel I got
enough justice for my son. If not, I’m gonna have to go and
slaughter your whole fucking family and remove your entire
scummy existence from this Universe. So let’s pray it does
for their sakes.

OFFICER FERMAN
(seeing him take a shooting stance. They both panic.)
No. No. I’m sorry.

Mr. Steward aims and fires. He lights them bitches up like a Christmas tree on Christmas
Day. The Silencer catches fire. The gun finally runs out of ammo and stops. He stares at
his work. Inspecting their very dead bodies, He exhales a huge breath of CO2. Then he
inhales a fresh breath of O2 trying to feel if he got justice. Did he get Justice for Dee? It
looks like he got some. But it does not bring his son back. He is still sad. So he weeps.

105. INT. RED TABLE - STUDIO – DAY

On the web television talk show RED TABLE TALK, RAPPER ICE CUBE is on a split
screen being interviewed Via ZOOM by JADA SMITH, WILLOW SMITH and
ADRIENNE BANFIELD – NORRIS.

ICE CUBE
(being interviewed on Zoom)
“The solution to all this racism and bullshit and the police terror-
izing people in their own neighborhood is that laws must be
changed in all areas of inequality. How do we do it? Simple. We
make politicians sign a contract with black America to earn the
black vote, to make them make the legislative changes we want
to demand things like qualified immunity. That’s the only way
the racism is going to stop. Cops need to be held accountable.
And this contract with black America is something concrete.
It is something we black people can all grab a hold of and get
behind. Voting is great. But voting with a purpose is better.
This contract ensures that we get what we want and need for
our best quality of life and respect we deserve in America. But
76.

ICE CUBE (Cont’d)

the politicians have gat us locked in where we have to be
democrats. But neither democrats or republicans have done
nothing significant for us. We catch hell regardless of who
is office. And nobody is opening the door for us on economic
rights. Everybody is slamming the door on us. Both of them.
So we cant just sit back and take a ride and get nothing. We
gatta have demands. We gatta go to these candidate with our
demands. This is what we want. And we have to go to both
parties with demands. And shake the tree up. And whoever
give us what we want as a people. That is who we vote for.
And this contract with Black America will guarantee that we
get the legislation that will end police brutality and economic
inequality, to ensure we get that foothold that we need to uplift
ourselves economically. If not, at the end of the day we will
always be regulated to the bottom and treated like garbage.
We all know you get treated differently if you broke than if
you some money. Cause bottom line, at the end of the day.
Dignity comes with dollars even if they still don’t like you.”
(The ladies agree)

106. INT. HOUSE – DAY

On a SPLIT SCREEN, we see SEAN ‘P DIDDY’ COMBS being ZOOM interviewed by

CHALAMANGE THE GOD.

SEAN ‘P DIDDY’ COMBS

“The solution is Our Black Party. If we want to end all this
racism and bullshit now we need to own our politics to effect
the legislation we need for our betterment as a people. Yes
we can be angry and march. Yes we can protest. People can
hear you. But nothing changes. So let’s not wait for them,
democrats or republicans to save us. We need a platform to
own our black politics. We need an institution that’s going
to promote and lobby for us to get our shit. And Our Black
Party will ensure that for us. Cause if we don’t have our people,
our politicians at the table. Then we have to eat whatever crumbs
they feed us. Us weaponizing our dollar and weaponizing our
vote through a platform like Our Black Party is the solution to
end this and to put all black people in the best better position,
to live the quality of lives we deserve. We as people have been
the most abused people on the planet. And it’s time for that shit
to stop now. We gatta start biting their legs off. When they put
their foot on our necks. We gatta start biting that shit off. Ain’t
77.

SEAN ‘P DIDDY’ COMBS

nothing going to stop unless you stop it. Our Black Party is
about supporting the right social and political leaders to make
sure we have a seat at the table. To make sure we get ours. We
don’t need to wait on nobody. We just have to mobilize. We
just need all of our kings and Queens to wake up. And we have
to ride hard for our people and future generations. So we have
to unify. We start now with Our Black Party to get political
power. Then we get our economic power. Then we end this
black racism and insanity. No more of that old negro shit. No
need to hate the player. Just learn the game and play it better.
No more killing us for kicks and giggles. We can’t handle one
more hashtag. We are at the breaking point. But this a new
negro. And we are one billion strong on the planet. And it’s
time for Africa To Unite. Cause this is global problem that needs
a global solution. And Our Black Party is that catalyst to that
freedom.
CUT TO:
CNNN REPORTER (on TV)
“CNNN Breaking Business News just in. Michael Jordan said
the Jordan brand will be donating 100 million dollars over
the next 10 years to organizations dedicated to ensuring racial
equality and social justice.” In a statement he said. “The Jordan
Brand is us, the Black Community. Until the ingrained racism
that allows our country’s institutions to fail is completely eradi-
cated, we will remain committed to protecting and improving
the lives of Black People.” That is indeed powerful stuff from
the GOAT himself.

LEBRON JAMES
“I think back to Emmett Till’s mom. That’s one of the first
things I thought of. The reason she had an open casket was
that she wanted to show the world what her son went through
as far as a hate crime, and being black in America. No matter
how much you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter
how many people admire you, being black in America is tough.
We’ve got a long way to go, for us as a society and for us as
African Americans, until we feel equal in America. Facts.”

107. EXT. CAPITOL HILL – DAY

We see thousands of white rioters storming the Capitol Building. We see them fighting
with police in riot gear who are spraying them with tear gas etc.
78.
CLINT WATSON
We are getting breaking news that armed rioters have breached
and stormed the Capitol. There are gunshots in the Capitol. We
have video of the violent mob attacking officers inside. Officers
are running for their lives as rioters scream racial slurs at them.
The lawmakers have been evacuated. Though It seems that their
objective was to get to the Senate hearing to stop the lawmakers
from passing the new ‘Black Lives Matter’ bill into law. This
is surely a day of infamy that will go down in American history.
Sadly, it shows how divided we are racially as a country. And
that we are a country in need of much much healing if we are to
truly be united and great. But the question on every black persons
mind is how were armed rioters able to sieze the Capitol Building?
Where was and is the national guard? They were called in for a
group of peaceful black protesters. Why are they Not here now?
And if that were violent armed black rioters breaching the Capitol,
attaching police, how many dead black bodies would be on the
ground right now? How bloody red would the Potomac River be
right now? Some would call it white privilege. What do you call
it? Clint Watson. Our New Channel 13 Atlanta.

108. EXT. MR. CED’S STORE – DAY

We HEAR the Song ‘AFRICA UNITE’ by Bob Marley.

Wilfred is sitting on the steps with Earline. The ballers are on the Park hooping it up.

Wilfred sees Mr. Steward’s truck driving toward him. He gives Mr. Steward a small
wave as he passes by. Mr. Steward gives him a small wave back. Mr. Steward looks at
his son’s MURAL. He nods ‘yes’ at it. He drives past it. We HEAR the Song “ONLY
GOD CAN JUDGE ME’ by Tupac.

CLOSE ON DEE’S MURAL. His Face. And the Words that read. ‘JUSTICE FOR DEE.
R.I.P BRO. The Tupac music is cranked even louder as Wilfred watches the truck drive
away.
THE END.
