PSI Indicator
After taking the PSI test my resulting 4 letter PSI indicator is ISTJ. Specifically, I got 25/40
introvert, 29/40 sensing, 26/40 thinking, and 30/40 judging. In all my score reflects that I am stronger
in one of the dimensions and weaker in the other in each indicator.

My Opinion
I agree with these results for the most part. I did a Myers Briggs test several months ago and the
only difference was I got feeling instead of thinking. I agree more with thinking being the result, as do
some of the others I asked. I agree that I am judging, however I know that I would never leave a task
behind to start I knew one as I like to have closure. In the handout, the judger is said “When a project
does not yet have closure, judgers will leave it behind and move on to new tasks and not look back.”
This I could not do; the unfinished task would drive me crazy. I do feel that ISTJ is the best fit for me,
as I generally have trouble expressing myself and am very orderly. I tend to make my own decisions, in
the past too much so where I should have been asking others. I am generally stubborn in the way that
once I decide what needs to be accomplished I will work at it until it is done. I work best with the facts
and what is known instead of what could be, as well as knowing what I am doing and staying on that
track.

What Others Said

The first person I asked is my mom, and she laughed while reading the description of ISTJ
saying that it knows me. Dad also agreed that it sounds like me. I also asked two friends, one being
Bobby who now lives in Edmonton and Rocky here in Saint John. Bobby said that it sounds like me as
I am very orderly, introverted and pay attention to detail and am very meticulous. Rocky, who does not
know me overly well yet, said that either ISTJ or ISFJ sounds like me, which is interesting as I got ISFJ
last time I did a Myers Briggs test. They all know me as someone who tends to be quiet in a crowd,
stick with the people I know, over-organized, and work on sometime tirelessly until it is complete.
Bobby termed it as stubborn and could be a pain, but would work good in something like accounting
where detail and exactness matters.

What I Learned About Myself

I learned a bit about myself in doing this. My parents taught me that I am judgmental in the way
that I make quick decisions and that I stick to them, and, apparently, it is not easy to change my mind. I
saw that sometimes I think very logically without much empathy, and yet at other times I do act out of
empathy. It seems that I get different results on the feeling and thinking portion depending on the
questions asked. The other indicators always seem stable. The more I think about myself, I probably
tend to act on what I know and the facts, but try to be kind in doing so or compromise to keep emotions
positive. I knew I disliked being interrupted when I am working, like on this assignment, but never
linked it to being introverted. It makes sense as I am in my own thoughts, and interruption disrupts my
thoughts. I do tend to think my way is the right way, and that sometimes leads to missing other ways of
doing something or being too closed to other ideas. This is something I have worked on over the years
and feel that I have improved vastly on, as it is important to listen to others and different possibilities.
Skills I Bring to a Team
There are some skills that I have that can bring value to a team. I am intelligent, good at
thinking through problems, pay attention to detail, like to complete my work and not just have it done
but have it done well. I am good at the details of what is going, and absorbing the facts. I like different
input as that can change the decision I make and I like to make well informed decisions.
This is not part of PSI but I am very good with technology which usually helps groups in
dealing with any presentation software and using Smartboards, etcetera.
So, my top five skills ranked:
1) Am meticulous which leads to being good at putting work together and making sure all the
topics are covered.
2) I work until my work is complete to a satisfactory level meaning I meet my deadlines and
do what is asked of me, and what the group needs of me.
3) Quick to process information which leads to being able to make decisions and seeing what
needs to be done.
4) Good at math which is part of being introverted and a thinker as I see myself as a rational
thinker. Math skills will help in any part where we must look at costs and available
resources and how to use the resources.
5) Good with technology and computers which can help create the visual presentation, use
things like the Smartboard and also knowledge of the technology market and what is new.
