1. HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION ON INFOSYS
Infosys was founded by seven engineers in Pune, Maharashtra, India with an initial capital of
$250 in 1981. It was registered as Infosys Consultants Private Limited on 2nd
July 1981. In 1983, it relocated its office to Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
With nearly four decades of experience in managing the systems and workings of global
enterprises, we expertly steer our clients through their digital journey. We do it by enabling the
enterprise with an AI-powered core that helps prioritize the execution of change. We also
empower the business with agile digital at scale to deliver unprecedented levels of performance
and customer delight. Our always-on learning agenda drives their continuous improvement
through building and transferring digital skills, expertise, and ideas from our innovation
ecosystem.
HISTORY
Established in 1981, Infosys is a NYSE listed global consulting and IT services company
with more than 249k employees. From a capital of US$250, we have grown to become a

US$13.15 billion (LTM Q3 FY21 revenues) company with a market capitalization of
approximately US$ 72.2 billion. In our journey of over 39 years, we have catalysed some of the
major changes that have led to India's emergence as the global destination for software services
talent. We pioneered the Global Delivery Model and became the first IT Company from India to
be listed on NASDAQ. Our employee stock options program created some of India's first
salaried millionaires.

INFOSYS’ ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEW
TYPE Public
Born in Bengaluru, Nilekani received his Bachelor’s degree from IIT, Bombay. Fortune
magazine conferred him with “Asia’s Businessman of the Year 2003”. In 2005, he received the
prestigious Joseph Schumpeter prize for innovative services in economy, economic sciences and
politics. In 2006, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan. He was also named Businessman of the
Year by Forbes Asia. Time magazine listed him as one of the 100 most influential people in the
world in 2006 and 2009. Foreign Policy magazine listed him as one of the Top 100 Global

Thinkers in 2010. He won The Economist Social and Economic Innovation Award for his
leadership of India’s Unique Identification initiative (Aadhaar). In 2017, he received the Lifetime
Achievement Award from E&Y. CNBC-TV 18 conferred India Business Leader award for
outstanding contribution to the Indian economy in 2017 and he also received the 22nd Nikkei
Asia Prize for Economic and Business Innovation, 2017.
Nandan Nilekani is the author of “Imagining India” and co-authored his second book
with Viral Shah, “Rebooting India: Realizing a Billion Aspirations”.
Salil Parekh, as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, sets and evolves the
strategic direction for the company and its portfolio of offerings, while nurturing a strong
leadership team to drive its execution. Salil has nearly three decades of global experience in the
IT services industry with a strong track record of driving digital transformation for enterprises,
executing business turnarounds and managing successful acquisitions.
Earlier, Salil was a member of the Group Executive Board at Capgemini, where he held
several leadership positions for 25 years. He was responsible for overseeing a business cluster
comprising Application Services, Cloud Infrastructure Services, and Sogeti.He was responsible
for the strategy and execution of these businesses - setting direction and enabling rapid client
adoption. He was also the Chairman of Capgemini’s North America Executive Council

CSR INITIATIVES
Infosys Limited (‘Infosys’ or ‘the Company’) has been an early adopter of Corporate
Social Responsibility (‘CSR’) initiatives. Along with sustained economic performance,
environmental and social stewardship is also a key factor for holistic business growth. We
established the Infosys Foundation in 1996 as a not-for-profit nodal body aimed at providing a
dedicated approach to community development and also to fulfil our CSR commitments. Infosys
Foundation works towards removing malnutrition, improving healthcare infrastructure,
supporting primary education, rehabilitating abandoned women and children, and preserving
Indian art and culture. Infosys Foundation partners with non-government organizations (NGOs)
to make a difference among local communities. The Company’s focus has always been to
contribute to the sustainable development of the society and environment, and to make our planet
a better place for future generations.

Healthcare
Underprivileged cancer patients often have to look for temporary shelters along with family
members who accompany them at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the All India Institute
of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jhajjar, and Haryana. To support such patients and their families,
the Infosys Foundation collaborated with the hospital to build an 800-bed Dharamshala inside
the campus.
Women in Jharkhand are way behind compared to the entire country as the state is mostly
a tribal region with inaccessible areas and villages untouched by technology. Jan Chetna Manch,
Bokaro (JCMB) has been working for several years on women’s health, financial independence
and empowerment in rural areas around the steel-manufacturing town of Jharkhand. The shared
goal of Women Empowerment made Infosys Foundation support JCMB using Infosys CSR
Funds and leadership acumen. The initiative has gotten new wheels and is going to create
maximum impact in the below-mentioned areas.
Education
Infosys Foundation started the Spark-IT program in September 2014. Specifically for
engineering students, the three-month course aimed to provide technology and communication
skills training to those who consistently performed well academically. The program received a
tremendous response and attracted applicants from all over the country. Infosys Foundation also
tied up with a number of institutes in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Pune in order to gain a wider reach

Sustainable Projects
In 2011, Infosys made a commitment to become carbon neutral. Since then, we have been
relentlessly working towards this goal. This year, the United Nations recognized their
achievements under the carbon-neutral program. Infosys received the 2019 UN Global Climate
Action Award under the ‘Climate Neutral Now’ category at the UN Climate Change Conference,
COP25, in Madrid, Spain. Infosys became the first Indian company to achieve this distinction.
They were recognized not only for their innovative solutions to address climate change, but also
for their approach of integrating sustainable development goals such as poverty alleviation,
gender equality, and economic opportunity in their climate action initiatives.
The first COVID-19 case in India was reported on January 30, 2020, and the first death in
India due to COVID-19 happened on March 12. On March 30, 2019, Infosys Foundation
announced 100 crore support for COVID-19 relief efforts. Of the amount committed, 50 crores
were donated to the PM CARES Fund to supplement the government’s pan-India relief efforts.
To provide ventilators, testing kits and PPE for frontline healthcare worker
The Foundation identified the immediate requirements at various hospitals engaged in the
fight against COVID-19 and stepped in to help. Medical equipment and infrastructures such as
ventilators, patient monitoring systems, viral transport media, N95 masks, other masks, non-
contact infrared thermometers, medical gas pipelines and gas manifold systems and PPE kits
have been provided pan- India to hospitals. These include Command Hospital (R&R) in
Bengaluru, 7 Air Force Hospital in Kanpur, 11 Air Force Hospital in Ghaziabad, Military
hospital in Belgaum, Chinmaya Mission Hospital, Bowring and Lady Curzon Medical College &
Research Institute, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in Bengaluru,
and Government Civil Hospital in Pune.

Access to food and nutrition for the poor
The Foundation also recognized the need to take care of the poor and underprivileged,
daily wagers whose livelihoods were impacted. Provisions, supplies and hygiene kits were
arranged to reach such sections, and healthcare workers, through many partner organizations.
The contributions were delivered through Sri Ramakrishna Sevashrama, Pavagada, Karnataka;
Deseeya Sevabharathi, Kerala; Arpan Trust, Chandigarh; Ramakrishna Mission, Karnataka,
Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh; The Akshaya Patra Foundation, pan-India; NASSCOM
Foundation, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and NCR; Maha Vimochana Trust, Chennai;
CII Foundation, Maharashtra; Deenabandhu Trust, Karnataka; South Western Railways,
Hubballi; Police Department, Mangalore Zone; Rama Vikas Society, north Karnataka; Seva
Bharathi, Theni, TamilNadu; Rashtriya Sewa Bharati, pan- India; Mysore Zoo, CUPA,

2. ORGANISATION
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
A structure depends entirely on the organization's objectives and the strategy chosen to
achieve them. In a centralized structure, the decision making power is concentrated in the top
layer of the management and tight control is exercised over departments and divisions. In a
decentralized structure, the decision making power is distributed and the departments and
divisions have varying degrees of autonomy. An organizational chart illustrates the

Functional structures are proved to operate well in stable environments where business
strategies are less inclined to changes or dynamism, the amount of bureaucracy makes it tough
for organizations to respond to changes in the market quickly.It also conducts Career
development practice to help employees to showcase their skills, providing career guidance and
career development activities.
Infosys provides strong property rights to its employees by providing employee stock
option plans. Top management was given profit sharing plans based on the company
performance as incentives. ESOP’s usually guarantee long term employment. But later Infosys
withdrew the stock options plan due to various complexities and accounting challenges.
Infosys also provides health and pension benefits, but not at a very lucrative scale. It is in
line with the government policies.
For its employees, Long term employment recognition and benefits like Pension Plans,
Group Medical Policy, Accident Policy, Bonus, Annual Medical Check-ups, Budgets for
quarterly team lunch, Annual outings as part of team building activities and flexible work hours.
In addition to the above mentioned benefits, Managers and employees above in the hierarchy
level also get these additional benefits – Large salaries, Company vehicle with fuel and driver
charges.

Infosys has 82 sales and marketing offices and 123 development centers across the world
as of 31 March 2018, with major presence in India, United States, China, Australia, Japan,
Middle East and Europe.
In 2019, 60%, 24%, and 3% of its revenues were derived from projects in North America,
Europe, and India, respectively. The remaining 13% of revenues were derived from the rest of
the world.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATIONS:
BS 15000 Certification
Infosys BPO, the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys Technologies, today
announced that it has been awarded COPC-2000® CSP Standard Version 4.1 certification for
selected client programs - in the telecom order entry and order validation processes. COPC-
2000® CSP Standard is a performance management framework that is considered a valued
strategy for implementing contact center best practices that improve performance in customer
satisfaction and service, inbound and outbound sales, service dispatch, collections, retention,
remittance processing, fulfillment, and other service operations.
Infosys BPO, the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys Technologies, today
announced that it has earned the highest rating, Level 5, for the e-Sourcing Capability Model
(eSCM–SP:v2.0) by Carnegie Mellon University's IT Services Qualification Center (ITSqc).
Infosys BPO is the second company in India and third, globally, to be certified a Level 5
eSCM-SP provider. The certification validates that the company has implemented recognized
best practices for the eSourcing industry and demonstrated a sustained commitment to
improvement. Infosys BPO was certified at Level 4 in its first evaluation in 2007.

ISO 27701 Accredited Certification
Infosys (NYSE: INFY), a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting,
today announced that it has been awarded the accredited certification on ISO 27701, the
international standard on data privacy, by Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC). Infosys is one of
the first companies in the world to have earned this certification with accreditation.
Infosys BPO, the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys Technologies, today
announced being certified compliant with the Payment Card Industry's Data Security standards
V1.2.1 (PCI-DSS). The certification affirms Infosys BPO's commitment to a strong data
protection and information management strategy and places it among a handful of 3rd party
service providers around the globe to have achieved this distinction.

Culture Chat
Culture chat initiative is an effort to bridge the culture gaps between two cultures. The
objective is to enhance understanding of business culture as well as provide employees an
opportunity to interact with their colleagues in other locations and understand the nuances of
different cultures. It is also an excellent opportunity to build relationships with employees from
different locations.
Infyability
It is an employee resource group formed for employees with disability that aims to create
a safe, accessible and inclusive work environment. It addresses specific needs towards the
recruitment, development, engagement, growth, and retention of employees with disability by
promoting an inclusive workplace where skills and knowledge of each employee are valued and
respected. It also runs campaigns to raise awareness among employees and contributes to the
design of the Company’s disability inclusion strategy.
Infosys is building sustainable communities under its carbon neutral program. In 2011,
Infosys made a voluntary commitment to become carbon neutral. Since then, they built a carbon
neutral program based on energy efficiency to reduce emissions, renewable energy to avoid
emissions, and carbon offsetting to account for any remaining emissions.
Their projects are helping rural India by directly benefitting over 102,000 families,
providing over 2400 rural jobs, and empowering women. The clean cooking technologies
provided through the projects are helping the families live a healthier life with cleaner indoor air.

While these projects together will reduce over one million tons of CO2e during the project term,
contributing to climate change mitigation, they also contribute to 11 of the 17 UNSDGs.
The LEED Green Building Rating System is a globally accepted benchmark for design,
construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings. Infosys has the largest building
area as LEED Platinum certified in the IT office space category. To make its campuses
sustainable and resource efficient, Infosys has followed a two pronged strategy since 2008 - to
design new buildings to the highest energy efficiency standards and implement deep retrofits in
old buildings. During the journey towards LEED certification, Infosys demonstrated success and
leadership in implementing sustainable operations strategies on existing buildings. The point of
greening existing buildings was to positively impact the environment through efficient
operations.
They have also received the LEED Platinum Existing Building certification for our
campuses in Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, and Chennai. With LEED
Platinum & GRIHA- 5 Star we are now spanning a total area of 25.08 million sq. ft. An
additional 4.3 million sq.ft. of our ongoing projects is currently under green building
certification.
Infosys started its waste management journey in 2013, implementing an ‘avoid, reduce
and recycle plastic’ approach to fulfill the organizational goal of zero waste to landfill. This
entails a wide spectrum of initiatives, both internal and external.
Consciously replacing single-use consumables like paper cups and plates has led to a
95% avoidance rate. Through greater employee awareness and systemic interventions, we are
also reducing the per capita waste generation.
They have nine automated biogas systems with an installed capacity of 3,700 TPA to
treat food waste and the gas is utilized in food court kitchens. The yard waste from large
campuses is treated in eight organic waste converters that have an annual capacity of 2500 tons.

Bio Park:
When we started building this campus in 2007, our plan was to nurture indigenous
species and promote local flora. The rocky laterite bed posed a challenge for us to do so.
We studied the local flora and fauna in detail. As our Green Initiatives team gained more
knowledge on the subject, the idea of creating a bio-park within the campus emerged. Today, the
bio-park has close to 330 species of flora and many species of fauna.
Infosys Foundation
Infosys Foundation USA today announced its CS for All community giving model, a new
private-public-community collaboration that builds on partnerships with the National Science
Foundation (NSF) and DonorsChoose.org to provide as many as 2,000 teachers with computer
science professional development.
Infosys Foundation USA and NSF have partnered to define an end-to-end approach to
computer science education, developing new evidence-based curricula along with sustainable
funding mechanisms to ensure teachers are trained effectively in computer science instruction.
NSF and Infosys Foundation USA have together committed $6 million to this effort
The Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) will organize ‘Gnanadeepa’, a workshop for
middle school mathematics and science teachers from rural Karnataka, at the Infosys campus in
Mysore from August 2 to August 12, 2014. This program is aimed at providing teachers a four-
point framework that can be used to effectively convey any concept in mathematics and science
to students. The program is expected to have participation from 680 teachers from government
schools in rural Karnataka.

Infosys Knowledge Institute (IKI)
The Infosys Knowledge Institute (IKI) helps industry leaders develop a deeper
understanding of business and technology trends through compelling thought leadership. Their
researchers and subject matter experts provide a fact base that aids decision making on critical
business and technology issues.
The Knowledge Institute research utilizes industry, functional, and technology expertise,
combined with the insight of business leaders. Current research focuses on four strategic themes:
digital talent and culture, stakeholder capitalism, platforms, and ecosystems, all in the context of
the pervasive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Knowledge Institute also publishes
regularly on industry, function, and technology trends. Recent projects have included PLM in the
circular economy, systems design, assuring digital trust in manufacturing, explainable AI, and a
major report on the future of tennis. Our offices are located in Dallas, Bangalore, and London,
and supported by a global team.
Infosys analysed five key areas on how well respondent companies were positioned to meet
their talent needs: planning, hiring, training, incentives and workplace to create a Talent
Readiness Index score. The Talent Readiness Index stratifies enterprises into their respective
clusters – Followers, Challengers, Leaders

• Followers: Have fewer approaches to develop talent and don’t measure their results or
effectiveness
• Challengers: Invest heavily in anywhere, anytime training; they still rely on traditional
sources for talent acquisition.
• Leaders: Build lifelong learning culture, and use it to retain top talent.
The report revealed several insightful findings, most importantly about the talent famine,
skills in high demand, the rising importance of soft skills and the barriers to talent transformation
across global enterprises. According to the research, although nearly all large enterprises are
pursuing improvement initiatives, digitizing the business is less about disruption and more about
meeting focused objectives which include better understanding of customers and markets (46%
of respondents), customer experience (45%), increasing productivity (40%), and employee
experience (35%).
Digital initiatives require people with sophisticated technical skills and the ability to
continually update those skills as cycles continue to shorten. The five technical skills in greatest
demand today are analytics (67% of digital initiatives), user experience (67%), automation
(61%), IT architecture (59%) and artificial intelligence (58%).
Digital projects are focused on creating superior customer and employee experiences, and
soft skills have become just as important as technical ones. Those in greatest demand are
teamwork (74% of digital initiatives), leadership (70%), and communication (68%). However,
our respondents seem to underestimate the relative importance of two soft skills: empathy (52%),
which is essential for design thinking, and learnability (56%), which is key to the continuous
personal and technical development essential for today’s digital talent. For both hard and soft
skills, the capabilities hardest to find and in greatest demand are analytics, communication, and
adaptability. However, the skills companies need most vary by industry and the types of digital
initiatives they are pursuing.

DIGITAL PRESENCE:
Infosys’ BPS subsidiary was established in 2002 and offers digital marketing services,
sales, fulfilment, F&A services, legal processing, HRO, customer management services,
knowledge services (KPO), sourcing, and procurement services. In 2012, it carved out a separate
practice called Digital BPS Services (Infosys Digital) to provide a wider range of digital
marketing services. Currently, it offers digital marketing campaign and content management
services, analytics, and consulting.
Infosys has made various investments and acquisitions in machine learning, data
wrangling, NLP, and automation providers, with use cases for marketing. In particular, in June
2015, it acquired Kallidus Inc. (operating as Skava) and its affiliate for $120m. Skava provides
digital experience software solutions including e-commerce and instore shopping experiences to
the retail sector, including mobile wallets, apps, and web stores. Skava is headquartered in San

Digital Factory
Infosys has a dedicated Digital Factory offering which incorporates digital sales,
marketing, and aftersales support. Services such as content management, digital marketing
operations enhancement, analytics, and automation are offered under the Digital Factory. Infosys
Digital starts digital marketing transformation engagements with a design thinking workshop to
identify opportunities for digital enablement, followed by a consulting stage for the optimization
of the UI, provided by Infosys' Consulting practice, often as standalone projects. Next, Infosys
consultants advise on the technological infrastructure to support the transformation and create the
business case for the proposed implementation. Finally, on behalf of the client, Infosys runs
digital programs such as display advertising, paid social management, search, and email
campaigns; and manages web presence such as global and local websites, intranet site, social

client, Infosys customized the Brandage platform to manage the digital asset library, reusing
templates, and repurposing and tagging content.
Infosys' analytics services for digital marketing clients include reporting and dash
boarding, gathering data to generate insights (using tools such as Omniture), and NLP and
cognitive analytics. Insight generation is often bundled with campaign management, where
Infosys analyses conversion rates, bounce rates, and open rates. It also offers analytics as a
separate service, primarily social media analytics to B2C clients.

Labour Unrest:
Information technology (IT) companies in India were in the midst of the industry’s
largest retrenchment drive, with seven of the biggest IT firms planning to ask at least 56,000
engineers to leave this year. The companies include both Indian and multinational firms with

million people, plan to let go of 4.5% of their workforce in 2017.” These retrenchments come
