1. Regarding Anatomy terminology:

a. Distal
b. In front
c. Lateral
d. Sagittal

2. Types of body cavities.

i. Ventral cavity
ii. Dorsal cavity
iii. Abdominal pelvic cavity

3. Cell division: most body cell divides by mitosis; a process that results into two new
genetically identical daughter cells formation of gametes (sexual cells) ova and spermatozoa
takes place by meiosis and the four daughter cells are genetically different from the parent
cell and each other. The period between cell division is known as interphase towards the end
of interphase the chromatin replicates and becomes tightly coiled forming double
chromosomes call chromatics in preparation for cell division. In human cells, there are 46
chromosomes. The chromatids of each chromosome joined at the centromere.

4. Cells provide six main functions:

i. They provide structure and support
ii. Facilitate growth through mitosis
iii. Allows passive and active transport
iv. Produce energy
v. Create metabolic reaction
vi. It aids in production

5. Types of epithelial tissues:

i. Simple epithelium
ii. Squamous epithelium
iii. Cuboidal epithelium
iv. Columnar epithelium
v. Ciliated epithelium

ii. Secretion
iii. Absorption

8. Principal parts of neuron are:

i. Cell body
ii. Dendrites
iii. Axon

9. Four physical barriers of general defence system:

i. Skin
ii. Mucus membrane
iii. Endothelia
iv. Tight cell junctions

10. Components of general defence system:

i. Barrier defence
ii. Phagocytosis fever
iii. Inflammation
iv. Interferon
v. Thee complement system

11. Five embryology terminology:

i. Germinal stage: development that occurs from conception until 2 weeks (implantation)
ii. Gastrulation: process during embryonic development that changes the embryo from a
blastula with a single layer of cell to a gastrula containing multiple layers of cells
iii. Neurulation: folding process invertebrate embryo, which includes the transformation of
the
neural plate into the neural tube
iv. Development of organs
v. Development of physical features

12. Define the following:

i. Spermatogenesis: is the origin and development of sperm cells within the male
reproductive organs, the testes.
ii. Oogenesis: is the differentiation of the Ovum into a cell competent to further develop
when
fertilized.

iii. Embryogenesis: is the development of an animal or plant embryo.

iv. Organogenesis: is the phase of embryonic development, that starts at end of gastrulation
and continue until birth.
13. Functions of the Integumentary system:
i. Protects the body's internal living tissues and organs.
ii. Regulates body temperature.
iii. Protects against invasion by infectious organisms.
