Area and Volume Assessment.

You have been assigned the challenge of building Goolwa an aquatic centre that will service the whole community. You are in charge of costing and are
designing/ supervising the whole project. You will need to design an aquatic centre including pools for both leisure and competition. You will need to come
up with a costing of the total project including concrete, water to fill the pool, tiles, water slides etc. The council are after a creative design with the
recreational pools which will add character to the aquatic centre, for example triangles and circles. You will need to provide the council with a scale
drawing of your intended design.

The council have included a list of must haves (below) and a budget of 3 million dollars.

 At least three pools

 A 50 metre pool with 8 lanes( 2 metres wide) and a depth of at least 2 metres (Olympic
size)
 A recreational pool for the public
 1 Olympic rated diving pool (7m deep) or water polo pool (25m long, 20m wide, and 3m
deep)
 A grassed area of at least 50 metres squared.
 Concrete paths between pools.
 At least 50 sets of tables and chairs.
 A café area (cost of café is coming from a separate budget)

The costing details are below:

 Concrete $120 per square metre.

 Water (1 cubic metre = 1000 litres) 25c per litre
 Tiles (needed to line the pools) $25 per square metre
 Water slides (sections of water slides are 3 metres long) $60 per section
 Full water park (40 metres squared, can be purchased as half or quarter sized parks) $3995
 Full 10 metre diving platform (can be purchased as 5 metre or a 2 metre) $50, 000
 Grass $20 per square metre.
 Tables and chairs (come in sets of four chairs, 1 table) $100
