3. Executive Summary

Introduction: This profile investigates improving deforestation by afforestation in Dinsho

district
4. Background
Deforestation is clearing of virgin forests of internal destruction or removal of trees and
other vegetation for agriculture , commercial ,housing or fire wood without replanting
(reforesting )and without contributing to the greenhouse effect and desertification
(FAO,1999). Rates of deforestation are particularly high in the tropics, where the poor
qualities of the soil available for agriculture use. Deforestation can lead to erosion,
drought, los of biodiversity through extinction of plant and animal specific and increase
atmospheric carbon dioxide or reforestation project to reverse the effect of deforestation
or increase available timber (Barbir, 2004). It is impossible to overstate the importance of
human kind clearing to the forests. The transformation of forested land by human action
represents one of the great forces global environmental change and one of the great divers
of biodiversity loss. The impact of people has been continues to be profound. Forest are
cleared, degraded and fragmented by timber human caused fire and many other ways
(perfecto, 1995).

Africa has the highest deforestation rates of all continents on the globe. That has large
impaction on the daily life.

Right in the heart of Africa spreading from democratic republic of Congo towards its
neighboring countries you find the second biggest rain forest of the world. This forests
together with other primeval forest on the biodiversity of the world and also vital the
world’s climate.

At the same time through Africa is the second largest loser of forest in the world. In some
regions, a forest has already completely the rain shed. Like in many countries of the
West Africa in other international wood in rapid pace (FAO, 2009).
Even while Ethiopia is close to the tropic because of it, height enjoy zones of template
climate not long ago it was covered by large forest but as many parts of the fertile layer
of the soil.

The poor country is the more it abuse of its natural resources simply because it’s the only
way to survive that it’s in habitants. In Ethiopia deforestation occurred for many causes it
has accelerate that in recent time. It is believed those forty years ago 40% of the country
was covered. In Ethiopia deforestation was caused primary by cutting trees to the wood,
the uses of land for agriculturally and livestock (WHO, 2006)

5. Project Rationale
The problem identified from the site would be observed. In the actual observation time,
most of the land on the area was degraded because there was high rate of deforestation.
This leads to high poverty rate because declination of agriculturally production from
land. It also erratic rain fall causes high soil erosion on the studied area. Based on that
concept the following problems will be being observed.

1. There was the impact of deforestation in the studied area,

2. There would be some causes for deforestation of forests.
3. The community was not aware about deforestation effect and controlling method.

Impact is the effect expected to result after practicing a certain practice/measure and can
be positive or negative depending on the performance. The impact can be measured by
assessing the economic variables and determine how far economically an individual have
achieved e.g improving deforestation by afforestation.

6. Project objectives

6.1. Project Goal

The goal of this project is to improving deforestation by afforestation.

6.2. General Objective

The general objective of this project is to investigate to improving deforestation by
afforestation in Dinsho district
6.3. Specific Objectives

 To identify the impact of deforestation in Dinsho district

 To differentiate the cause of deforestation in Dinsho district

 To state the effect of deforestation in Dinsho district

 To indicate the methods of controlling deforestation in Dinsho district

7. Project decrptions

During implementations the following inputs will be needed:

 Sufficient budgets
 Human power

8. Project Management and Organizations

The proposed project will have consolidated management system controlled by the
owners of the project. This enables us to get the profit that we estimate and minimize the
cost of administrative through replace other employees being hired from outside. Besides,
to business owners other employees will be hire on permanent and contract basis.
9. Stakeholders and Beneficiaries’

This project directly benefits all in Dinsho district. The whole community of the in
Dinsho district will benefits from this project.

10. Project Implementations

Remark

Increasing local awareness Giving training Dinsho district

Preparing workshop Give training for Sinena Woreda Dinsho district

11. Risk and Assumptions practicing awareness local people

The other plan that essential consider in this project development is Plan of risk
assessment and assumptions. First identify the risks which could jeopardize the
realization of the project outcome. Then, describe assumptions (condition) that are
basically needed to achieve results after the risks have been managed.
12. Monitoring and evaluations

It is responsibility of the funding organization to carry out mentoring and evaluation of

the project because it enables constant check on the activities and helps review the
progress made at every step. So that monitoring and evaluation should be designed as an
integral part of the project.

12.1. Project Monitoring

Monitoring should be the integral part of the project implementation. We use an integral
mechanism to monitor the results, risks, assumptions and performance regularly through
meetings and submission reports. This project granted by Dinsho district. The project
coordinator will be responsible for preparing and submitting as per the agreement
periodic project process report, final technical reports and accounting of expenditures
made from the grated found.

12.2. Project Evaluation

To measure the success of this project it is necessary to carry out evaluation. We consider
these project objectives, results, positive and negative impacts to identify this project
success, shortcomings. It will be evaluate five times a year, four during the submission of
the progress report and the other is on completion of the project phase.

13. Sustainability of the project

These project operations are expected to continue, or expand to other areas, once the
current phase of assistance is completed. There are enough human resources, sufficient
materials resource, enough financial resources and accommodation. After this project will
implement in Dinsho district, it is easy to mobilize for others kebele. In general this
project is become to implement in Dinsho district. Enable to get efficient knowledge,
skills and value.
