DISCUSSION

We have carried out applications and installation operations on CNC rotating machines and
were able to determine operations using NC part programming from CAM software for the
production of products on CNC rotating machines. Before running a CNC programme, the operating
instructions of the CNC machine must be provided. The necessary preparations shall include the
attachment of the workpiece directly to the machine or the attachment of the necessary tools to the
correct machine components.

In order to decide the origin of the workpiece on the CNC rotary unit, we must refer to the
CAM and use the X, Z and cutting parameters on the panel to move the workpiece. We then need to
know the length of the instrument and the offset tool to evaluate Z(0) on the surface of the
workpiece in the Z-Axis. For X(0) the rotation axis of the spindle is still the same at all times. The tool
length offset must be right for each tool and precise to ensure that the tool is correctly cut. In
situations where the length of the tool is wrongly offset, this can lead to a crash that may destroy
the tool and, potentially, the machine or the workplace.

RECOMMENDATION

Operation Setup

 Used tool edge finder to get accurate location of the edges of a workpiece.
 Re-collaborate the table gauge reading before any operation setup can reduce the
measurement error.
 Applied 3-2-1 principle when placing workpieces at fixtures with the help of locating
pins to arrest all the six degrees of freedom (DOF) in a fixture. It can avoid any
movement of workpieces during facing operation

NC Programming Setup

 Reduce the number of pass cycles in the process setting to reduce the time cycle for
milling facing operation.
 Add the lean-in or lean-out NC programs to reduce the tool wear after operations.
 Have different types of tooling for each cut operation from rough cut to finish cut.
