1. Since modular distance learning is the majority’s learning delivery modality based on
DepEd’s survey result, what do you think is its advantages and disadvantages to the learners
and teachers? Give specific examples.
2. How can the Radio Based Instruction Program be of benefit to the learners at home? Give
suggestions on how can it be best delivered to the learners at home.
3. Do you agree with the latest DepEd Order on the Interim Guidelines on the grading system in
the light of the Covid 19 pandemic? Why? Why not?
4. What do you think are the major reasons on the consideration of the Most Essential
Learning Competencies instead of the competencies found in the Curriculum Guides?

Answer:

1. Modular Distance Learning Modality at this time of Covid 19 pandemic,

a. Gives opportunities to the learners to be more independent on their studies.
b. It gives time to learners to have their own schedule if ever they find difficulties in the subjects
c. Teachers cannot give follow up discussion on the lessons
d. Teachers cannot force learners to answer the activity if they don’t know what it is all about.
e. Teachers cannot demand more outputs since no face to face clarifications.

Example:

In my case, some of my learners don’t have a chance to ask me if ever they have questions
because they are living in a barangay where there is no internet signal. Some of them also has no
gadgets like cellphone. So they are not members of our group chats. The challenge is how can I reach
them? and vice versa they also find difficulties to reach me if ever they have questions regarding the
activity. Every friday is the schedule of our distribution/retrieval of modules, I always take this chance
to ask their parent/guardian about the performance of the learners in their module. If what are the
problems they encountered in answering the modules. Sometimes some of the activity have no answer.
Outputs are incomplete and even summative tests have no answer. In this case, my understanding and
patience will come along. I cannot force them to do what they I want since we have no face to face
instructions. I just gave intervention so that they can cope with the studies.
2. Radio Based Instruction Program can benefit learners who have access on the internet at home and
homes with radio signals. Like here in Viga, some of the learners have cellphone but some of them have
no access on the internet so they cannot open the radio station online.
If ever they have an access on the Radio Based Instruction Program, before tuning in on the lesson,
they must be equipped with the modules, ballpens and paper must be ready. Do not forget to take
down notes on the discussion.

3. Yes. I agree on the latest DepED Order on the Interim Guidelines on the grading system in light of the
Covid 19 pandemic because it’s goal is to continue learning of our learners even though we are facing
this pandemic.

4. Reasons why Most Essential Learning Competencies is advisable instead of the Curriculum Guides:
a. MELC compose of the main ideas or skills that we expect the learners to master.
b. MELC compose of the objectives that is designed for the learners capabilities
c. MELC adjusted the time which is just enough to learners to master the objectives.
d. MELC focused only on the present learning ability of the learners.
